Our trade can not be done online like so many others. This is the livelihood of our families and ourselves and without being able to perform our licensed trade, we are at risk of losing our businesses, homes, cars, etc... With the potential PPP running out of funds and tenants receiving minimal rent deferment with strict guidelines, and little to no rent forgiveness, can take out all financing of independent contractors and small business owners. Many government officials still are receiving salon services Illegally because they are the face of the city. Yet we support many other business professionals who need to maintain their appearance as well as their mental health from their image.

Allow a licensed beauty professional to perform a beauty service/ privately with one client in the salon / per stylist at a time Starting as of Monday, April 27, 2020. All necessary precautions and sanitation protocols approved by the state of Ok and the local Board of Health will be followed. Our industry needs to be recognized & deemed as an essential business so we can better serve our community. Servicing one client at a time (while wearing a mask & gloves) poses little to no risk of spreading the virus, as compared to 20 or more people in a grocery store or 10 plus people at restaurants picking up food. Covid 19 is affecting the economy in major ways and forcing people to make tough decisions for their families based upon recent events and work displacement. To ease the economical pain in our industry it is in our best discretion to open back up with these limited restrictions. Moreover the quarantine was implemented to flatten the curve of the spread of covid 19 to ensure that hospitals were not overwhelmed all at once and to help prevent such rapid spread. The number of people infected is currently on a decline and the numbers aren’t as bad as once projected. Additionally Tattoo artist are trained and certified in blood borne pathogens and cross contamination as well as many other medical safety and sterility procedures.

Our right to pursue happiness and make a living has been taken away. This cannot be allowed.

People in detention are highly vulnerable to outbreaks of contagious illnesses. To date, we have seen the high level of contagion in New York jails and many counties across the county have released people detained or incarcerated as a measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Protecting the health of people in detention is a necessary step to protecting the public safety, as detention center staff and ICE officers go back to their homes and communities each night. Our demands are simple: Release all people incarcerated and detained in the Etowah county Detention Center and County Jail. Immediate action before an outbreak occurs is the best and safest way to prevent the spread of disease and reduce the threat to those most vulnerable to complications from the novel coronavirus. Release your plans to prevent the spread of COVID-19 within the Etowah County Detention Center and County Jail. Sheriff Horton has yet to release a detailed plan to reduce the risk of a COVID-19 outbreak in the Etowah County Jail and Detention Center. An outbreak would totally overwhelm the Etowah County Jail and medical facilities in Etowah County. Plans should include screening, testing, non-punitive isolation methods, and adequate medical care. Make publicly available information regarding the spread of COVID-19 within the Etowah County Detention Center and County Jail and uphold the right of those in custody to communicate with their families, friends, and legal counsel. Families, friends, and lawyers should have access to regular communication with those in detention including free phone calls (including confidential phone calls and video conferencing with attorneys), access to email, video visitation, and postage mail. Many of us cannot pay our bills or buy food now and others are close behind if we don’t get back to work soon, Please consider this petition to let us work again. We know & comply with the rules of sanitation everyday already in our work environment & understand them better than the average person because we are licensed through the state of New Mexico. We know how to properly clean and sanitize all of our tools and work space. All we have to do is add masks as many already use gloves and aprons & wipe down any surfaces our clients touch.
