Precious Water Not "Precious Metals"The purpose of this petition is to stop, before it begins, sulfide mining in northern Minnesota. The rock formations containing MN's copper and nickel minerals also contain sulfur compounds. When millions of tons of this rock are exposed to water and air through mining, sulfuric acid is formed creating Acid Mine Drainage and leaching metals into ground and surface water. Superfund sites from sulfide mining require billions of dollars in clean-up costs. The jobs created by mining are few compared to the ones provided by the year round tourism that supports northeastern Minnesota. This pristine environment enjoyed by millions year round must be protected. Mining companies make many promises but they cannot guaranty accident free worksites.1,461 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Diane Hiniker

Abolition of Assault WeaponsThe purpose of this petition is to urge Congress to ban assault weapons in the United States except for law enforcement and the military. It is the intent of this petition to reduce the level of violence in our society and to prevent future mass killings of the kind we saw in Tuscon, at Virginia Tech, and at Columbine High School. No law abiding citizen, including hunters and sportsmen, need to possess "weapons of war" capable of firing dozens of rounds of ammunition in a matter of seconds.5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Darryl Cherness

Economic Rights For AllHello! Have you noticed that the issues that matter to you most like the economy and health care are not getting the real attention that they should? Help spread the word that Americans want real change in Washington, regarding the rights of all citizens, regardless of income, age, or race. The 2012 race is just beginning to heat up, and Wall Street and their moneyed interests are attempting to portray President Obama with false and unfounded attacks, which are not a solution for meaningful change in Washington or on Main Street. We want to affirm our rights as individuals, and ensure that the richest Americans do not have a monopoly on public discourse, and stride to prevent cheap ploys that the Republicans, as well as their shadowy benefactors, use to divide America. Please help us petition to tell Washington and Wall Street that we are all united, and that we want to talk about real issues that matter to all Americans, such as the economy, health care, and Social Security, and not manufactured issues that only serve to confuse and muddle what's really important. Please take a moment to join with your fellow Americans to tell Mitt Romney and his fellow Republicans that Americans still have a voice, and will not sit idly by and let divisive politics get in the way of the real issues! Tell those in Wall Street and in Congress that we want genuine solutions, and not the same old divisive politicking. Please sign today to make a REAL change for the rights of everyday Americans!1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by David Parks

Tell 24 Hour Fitness to recycle!24 Hour Fitness has about 3 million members and more than 400 clubs in 17 states but not a single recycle bin. In-fact most of the trash in the 400+ clubs consists of plastic bottles and paper towels, that's hundreds of metric tons of recyclables going to landfills every year. We have the power to change this. We can help our environment. 24 Hour Fitness plans to have more than 1000 clubs in the next five years. The impact will be tremendous. Sign this petition and show CEOs how important the environment is to you!7 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Dmitriy Tkachenko
