Investigate Florida Voter DisfranchisementRecently, Florida Governor Rick Scott ordered the Secretary of State, Kurt Browning, “to identify and remove non-U.S. citizens from the voter rolls.” In the process a list of 182,000 people was generated, and was considered so flawed by Mr. Browning and others, that Mr. Browning wrote a formal refusal to release the data to county election officials; subsequently, Mr. Browning resigned in February. Using a "known to be flawed" data-set, Governor Scott initiated a purge -- commencing with approximately 2600 voters. This purge has resulted in a serious disenfranchising of clearly eligible America Voters in a criminally negligent fashion, and must cease and desist without delay.1,398 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Progressive Centralists

Stop the governments war on the American peopleThis is about ending the useless and expensive "war on drugs". Many of the people our government is waging this war on are our own citizens. Not only that, but the war on drugs has created a black market ran by criminals to fund criminal endeavors and organization, and to fund terrorism. The war on drugs also siphons money out of our country. The war on drugs hurts us in many more ways than it helps us.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Michael Grimm

Homeless veterans need our helpSigning this petition demonstrates awareness that homelessness among veterans is avoidable provided resources are redirected and allocated directly to veterans in order to purchase homes, build businesses, or reduce personal debt. Government funding designed to assist veterans should not be limited to corporations and institutions that seek to educate veterans, improve job and self-help skills, or seek to "avoid homelessness among veterans." We can do those ourselves with the right resources. I retired from the United States Army in 2004. While pursuing a master's degree, I attempted to refinance my mortgage (with a good credit rating). Bank of America delayed this process so long that eventually I either missed, or was late with a couple payments, which disqualified me for refinancing. I then applied for a modification. This process became quite lengthy as well, and Bank of America threatened to foreclose on my home. After 2 years I began filing complaints with various agencies and government officials. It was then that Bank of America completed the modification process. I have veteran friends who returned from the war with health challenges. They have had to beg for assistance just to remain in apartments (not houses they were purchasing). I have opened my own home to potential homeless veterans, because the so-called programs in place do not assist those who need a little help. If the president allocates resources to support veteran entrepreneurship we can improve job opportunities for all Americans, limiting the challenges and funding associated with developing programs that supposedly help employ veterans. I accepted unpaid employment as an intern in order to prove myself capable of performing the duties associated with employment that I was over qualified for. I only wanted to get a job I could feel good about, while helping others. I sought assistance with veteran transition programs and was denied assistance in building my own business. This business would have aided in developing many jobs for other qualified veterans and civilians. I now own my own business and have to fight with large non-veteran businesses and corporations for contracts supposedly set aside for veterans. All I get is “fee-for-service contracts,” equal to part-time employment at best. I began using my "Post 9/11 GI Bill" benefits in order to attend Argosy University, Seattle (EDMC/40% Sachs owned). Half-way through the program, someone decided to terminate pursuit of accreditation. Even more discouraging, another decision was made to close the program due to lack of enrollment. My GI bill funds were consumed; I had a mountain of student loan debt; and I don't even have a degree (which would have carried little merit). This is criminal/predatory/fraudulent behavior; an act of Terrorism, and no one has been held accountable, yet veterans are the targets of such systems. I suffered medical challenges that interfered with my quality of life. My income decreased, and my debt increased. Many of my veteran friends share similar experiences. Some self-medicate with alcohol and drugs. Reduction in personal debt decreases medical challenges associated with anxiety, PTSD, depression, and substance abuse, which puts a strain on the American economy. This is avoidable. You don't have to be a veteran to agree, support or assist, and we’re not asking for your money. We ask that you sign and pass along this petition. Thank you for your time.161 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Sonorra McMath

Save the Iraqi Mandaean Community from ExtinctionThe Mandaean community in Iraq faces extinction. Out of more than 60,000 Mandaeans in Iraq in the early 1990s, only 5,000 to 7,000 remain, most having fled since 2003 in the face of murder, kidnapping, rape, eviction, and forced conversion. We're calling on the United States government to help preserve the Iraqi Mandaean culture, heritage, and existence by funding a Mandaean language school and programs to assist Iraqi Mandaean refugees in returning to Iraq. The United States has a responsibility to this community that is almost extinct because of the United States' war and occupation.36 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Luke Wilcox

Please, Mr. President, Go to Wisconsin, and Help Tom Barrett Oust One of the Worst, and Most Corr...Notwithstanding being outspent 25 to 1, Tom Barrett is within the margin of error in Wisconsin's recall election. Everyone agrees that this will be the second most important election in our country this year. Tea Partiers and other right wing fanatics are furiously working to defend the indefensible: Scott Walker, the most dishonest governor in the country, a known dirty tricks artist, an unindicted coconspirator, and an admitted puppet of the Koch Brothers and other corporate and billionaire conservative extremists who are bound and determined to make the lives of ordinary working people as burdensome and intolerable as possible. A Walker defeat would energize liberals throughout this country, whereas a Walker victory would dishearten those Wisconsinites who have worked so hard for a year and a half to stop the toxic flow of right wing extremism in their state and beyond. Please, Mr. President, no one can rally the troops like you can. And, by so doing, you will also enhance your own chances of prevailing in November. If you won't travel to Wisconsin to invigorate liberals who have been courageously trying to prevent their state from being overrun by right wing extremists with their anti-worker and anti-consumer agendas, please ask the First Lady, the Vice President, and/or President Clinton to stand in for you. The entire future of this country could well be hanging in the balance pending the outcome of this election, and this might well be your only opportunity to cut off the head of the snake before we all are poisoned.5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jeff Friedman

Medicare Prescription Plan PenaltiesWhen I retired in 2008, I was not told that the Medicare Prescription Plan was mandatory and I would be assessed penalties for not signing up. I was not on any medication at that time and saw no need to pay premiums to the insurance companies that I did not need. When I signed up with Medco in 2012, I was assessed a penalty for the period between 2008 and 2012. I feel this is very unfair. Especially since the amount they pay for prescriptions does not decrease my cost. By the way, I was paying 100% for any prescriptions I needed in that 4 year period. On a fixed income, it is very difficult to pay for all of these insurance premium and still have to pay the same amount for my prescriptions that I was paying before I signed on to the prescription paln.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Dorothy Corley

Stop the Military Industrial Machine that is bankrupting AmericaPresident John F. Kennedy was killed because he tried to stop the Military Indusrial Complex of America from robbing Americans blind. President Eisenhower warned of this problem in his ferwell address to the nation, and he was ignored by most everyone except President Kennedy, who was killed for trying to change the culture of war and weapons that were grabbing hold of our nation and now controls it. I ask you all why do we allow this to continue. Why? Is this not a free country, cann we not make a change for the better,117 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Mr. R Nelson

Explicit advertising for mens sex drugs on TV.The continuous TV advertising of mens sex drugs, especially for cialis and also viagra are so offensive. Then we know they are paid for by the costly prescription prices poor people must pay for drugs. The drug companies actually spend more for advertising than they do on medical research.39 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Alice Bentley

Keep Genetically Engineered Food Out of AfricaPresident Obama recently put forward his New Alliance for Food Security and Nutrition, a plan to improve agriculture in poor countries through private investment from companies like Monsanto and Cargill. The problem is that these companies claim that through Genetically Engineered (GE) seeds and crops they can end hunger, but GE food has been around for more than two decades and hunger is still rampant in many parts of the world where the technology washas been used. Top researchers confirm that the results of genetic engineering are unpredictable. This is why unexpected harmful substances may appear in GE food. This is important because about 70% of the food in supermarkets is GE and consumers don't even know it. Now this technology is going to be spread in parts of Africa, starting with Tanzania, Ghana, and Ethiopia. The leaders from the three countries attended the G8 conference and were eager for the investment. But they may be putting profit ahead of public interest by ignoring the needs of their small scale farmers in their home countries. GE has wreaked havoc in India and been boycotted in France, Brazil, Spain and Argentina, just to name a few. The people in those countries didn't want GE in their countries and now lawmakers are rethinking their decision. The lawmakers in Africa don't have an option because their countries are impoverished and they need all the help they can get, but not thorugh a destructive product and a damaged environment.8 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jemima
