My name is Antonio Ennis. I'm a father of 6 fighting Bank of America to stay in my home in Dorchester, MA. I’ve been waging a long fight against Bank of America to keep my home. When Bank of America bought Countrywide, I applied for a loan modification. But instead of lowering my payments, Bank of America raised my monthly payment by $1,000. Now, my family and I may lose our home if Bank of America does not approve my principal reduction soon. That’s why, on May 9th, I’m going to Charlotte, NC -- the Wall Street of the South -- to confront the top executives of Bank of America. I’m coordinating a bus bound for Charlotte carrying 50 people affected by foreclosure -- people like me on the brink of losing their homes, along with families, children, and new activists. We want to share our stories on May 9th. But now, days before thousands of us are traveling to Charlotte to confront Bank of America top executives and board members about the big bank's destructive practices--the city of Charlotte has declared that there is no room for our stories and our voices. They have declared the Bank of America shareholder meeting on May 9 an "extraordinary event," meaning that they are restricting free speech and expanding the ability of police and security forces to target and profile the homeowners, workers, community members, students, and immigrants who are coming to Bank of America shareholder's meeting to demand justice for our communities and our planet. Will you join in me in telling City Manager Curt Walton to rescind his decision to declare Bank of America’s shareholder meeting an “Extraordinary Event” and protect the Constitutional rights of protesters? This will be an extraordinary event. It’s extraordinary because of how many people are coming together to build an economy and a democracy that works for all of us--not just for the 1%. We are the families who are homeless because of Bank of America’s illegal foreclosures; we are the mothers whose children can’t stop coughing because of pollution from dirty coal plants financed by bank of America, we are the people everywhere who are losing our communities and quality of life in the name of corporate greed and we thank you for standing with us.

The Republicans, Romney in particular, are blaming Obama for the lack luster recovery. But the truth is that they blocked, or forced excessive compromise on many of Obama's proposals. Republican governors also lead the nation in firing public sector workers. Had there been more of an attempt to save these existing jobs, the jobless rate would be lower,

Too many deadbeat dads and too little support enforcement action by government means too many women trying to raise children with too little money. This impacts us all as these children will grow up to be our future.

Why do the taxpayers not take a closer look at wasteful spending in school systems across this country, while education in Louisiana, for instance, lags at the bottom. As taxpaying citizens, we should hold our elected officials responsible. Why do we continue to elect people who do not take an active interest in releasing those who will not get the job done in providing a solid and equitable education for all of our children? While Governor has recently had passed an Education Reform Package in Louisiana, will it really bring us up from ranking 48th in the Nation, educationally speaking?

Corporations should not be allowed to run the Workers Compensation program (self insured). It should be handled by an outside third party not affiliated with the Corporation.

The Constitution of the United States declares that it and treaties ratified by Congress and signed by the president are the law of the land. Congress ratified and the president signed the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment. No exceptional circumstances whatsoever may be invoked as a justification of torture.

Many buffets and restaurants dump mountains of uneaten food into dumpsters at the end of business. That food should be delivered to the homeless. The food delivery service would create new jobs. The food that would be distributed at homeless shelters would eliminate the need for the government to supply food to them. The restaurants would receive a government stipend for their participation.

Manoomin (natural wild rice) is a vital cultural, spiritual, environmental, and economic resource for the Anishinaabe people in northeastern and north-central Minnesota. As an environmental resource, healthy stands of manoomin are the barometer of a healthy ecosystem. Macroinvertebrates, vegetation, flora, fish, waterfowl, wetlands and wildlife are all interconnected in the ecosystem of manoomin. Legislation seeks to weaken the Wild Rice/Sulfate Water Quality Standard for the benefit of foreign extractive copper resource colonies to open nonferrous mines in northern Minnesota. Additional legislation weakens the permitting process and diminishes the authority of regulatory agencies at the cost of the manoomin and the environment. Lawmakers need to consider that their actions place Minnesota's State Grain (Wild Rice) at great risk - not only for the current generation, but for the generations that follow.

Early start times jeopardize academic achievement, mental health and the safety of teens. The impact falls hardest on struggling students. We urge SPS to maintain the benefits to health and learning that have been gained by middle and high school students having later starts as of 2017, and not make changes to bell times that would have any secondary student start school prior to 8:30 am.

Everytime a crazy with a gun goes out and kills we hear the same backgrond, "He was a loner and didn't have any friends". I'm proposing an addition to the firearms application that requires the signatures of two adults that belive you can be trusted with a gun. Responsible hunters shouldn't have a problem. Lone gunmen might find it more difficult to get a legal gun.
