• TERM LIMITS
People should be concernd about the length of time members of Congress are remaining in office. It creates a situation where the longer they stay the more power they obtain. Also, the lobbyists are able to get close to them. There is no reason that they stay as long as they do. Also, with term limits, there would be no need for pensions.

  • Save Community Services for People with Developmental Disabilities
Community organizations across the State of California who serve people with disabilities are going to lose millions of dollars that they have been promised from the Department of Developmental Services. We need your voice to help us tell them NO! Enough broken promises, we need you to be held accountable to what you say.

  • Banks...leveling the playing field
If Congress were to pass a bill that states: ALL Banking industries personal if wanting to continue doing business, MUST give EACH person a direct contact, email and fax number. Its understood that faxes can be used as legal documents. If WE (Americans) want an equal voice in the mortgage process. This must happen immediately. It will slow down and focus corruption.... more easily...Aside from transparency and full Disclosure up front

  • Allow Disabled Persons to Marry Without Loss of Benefits
Individuals who qualify for social security disability on either their parent's or their grandparent's benefits are discriminated against when it comes to marriage. These are people who became disabled before the age of 22 and did not work enough qualifying hours (ie tax paying job) to have enough of their own social security benefits to qualify. When they sign a marriage certificate they automatically lose all of their disability benefits, including monthly stipend and medicare health insurance. How is this fair? Is the assumption that once you're married your spouse can provide monthly income and health insurance for the disabled person, or that they're any less disabled? We need to fix the broken system that prevents disabled persons from marrying as this is flat out discrimination.

  • Employment Opportunity
Increase job opportunities for many, in particular poor people, by removing an unnecessary barrier to hiring. If something is not necessary to do a job, it should not be a requirement to get the job!

  • Child Abuse Victom needs your help
The other day my God Daughter called my wife up crying after watching a video... (WARNING THIS VIDEO CONTAINS CHILD ABUSE AND IS DISTURBING TO WATCH. SMALL CHILDREN SHOULD NOT BE IN THE ROOM WHEN PLAYING THIS VIDEO. IF AT WORK PLEASE LOWER THE VOLUME) VIDEO LINK: http://youtu.be/pMQQBuMeusQ A friend of hers posted on Facebook. In the video, what appears to be a 4-6 months old child is clearly being abused. Whats not clear is who the abuser is (mother/caretaker, etc.). The issue is that there is no one to defend that child and its not clear if the child may already be DEAD!

  • Protect Our Seniors
As a senior citizen my petition is about Medicare, Social Security and Taxes. 1st, why should I have to pay for Medicare when I already have existing insurance through my employer just because I turned 65 and secondly, why is my Social Security taxed- they have collected money from throughout my working years and now when I start getting it back- they tax it.

  • Forfeit of Congressional Benefits to Felons
In our recent history several members of Congress have been convicted of crimes yet still receive the fringe benefits of that office. I propose a simple Petition that states, "any member of congress convicted of a felony forfeits any and all benefits of that office".

  • Executive Order to make Lobbying Illegal
The only way the 99% can change legislation is by petition and protest. All corporations have to do is hire someone to wine, dine and gift a legislator under the disguise of junkets, super PACS, and huge corporate donations. We ask President Obama to level the playing field by outlawing professional lobbyists so the Corporations have to get their way the same way the 99% do.

  • Gunfire Detection
Three local neighbors spent months trying to see an end to celebratory gunfire through deployment of gunfire location technology. After months of work, those same neighbors need five minutes of your time to give this technology the best possible chance at deployment. Our NPU Public Safety Chair (Ron Lall) sent out an email two weeks ago discussing an initiative to launch ShotSpotter gunshot location technology in Atlanta. This technology is capable of detecting the source of gunfire within inches, and allows distinguishing between actual gunfire events and other sounds which mimic gunfire, such as fireworks. Technical info is available at www.shotspotter.com and a short video explaining the technology is here: http://youtu.be/V28UMrWGARk In short, Councilmember Julian Bond proposed an ordinance that would allow for funding of the ShotSpotter technology in Atlanta. This is exacly what we need to isolate where gunfire is coming from and allow APD to respond to the exact site of gunfire incidents. This ordinance was held recently and is up for discussion with all involved parties and NOW is the time to request support from our representatives! If it bothers you that we can't tell the difference between gunfire and fireworks, that our APD officers waste time driving around in circles trying to locate a possible gunfire event, or that we can't prove where gunfire is coming from with any certainty, please take a moment to help:
