  • Protect hundreds of thousands of unemployed across the nation and extend unemployment emergency a...
On May 12, 2012. the U.S. Department of Labor cut federal funding to hundreds of thousands of US Families across the country. The 2011 unemployment emergency assistance has not been extended into 2012 and benefits are being cut off with little notice. In April fifteen states were cut off from dedicated federal funds, in May eight more states unemployed have been cut off even though they have a remaining balance on their claim. Hundreds of thousands across the country are at risk of losing their homes, apartments, and cars. Families are still struggling while lawmakers refuse to help. Tell lawmakers to rescue families across the country hit hardest by the economic downturn, and act swiftly in extending federal unemployment benefits in 2012.

  • Eliminate State and Federal Rights for Marriage
The States and Federal Governments give hundreds of rights and benefits to those Americans who are married; single Americans deserve all the same equal rights and benefits. The Governments are discriminating against those Americans who are not married; single Americans pay taxes to the governments and do not receive equality and all the benefits; give equal access to all rights and benefits under the laws to all citizens or deny those who are married any special rights and benefits.

  • Fair government wages
Because necessary minimum wage workers like life guards, park workers, librarian helpers, and others who only make about $10 an hour or about $20,000 a year are being cut for lack of funding, Whatcom County and Bellingham City elected and appointed officials may not be paid more than five times minimum wage -- $100,000 a year.

  • Make changes concerning leadership problems in your Campus Ministry division
Leadership in the Campus Ministry division of Campus Crusade for Christ have recently hired potential missionaries just to remove them as soon as the missionaries have raised appropriate funding for themselves and the ministry. Campus Crusade is only suppose to receive 10% of money raised through individual missionaries. The missionaries are supposed to receive the outstanding balance. The Campus Ministry division recently hired a missionary to raise money only without telling them this was their sole purpose, leading them to believe they would be allowed to collect the funds they had raised ($35,000) when they met their financial goal. They have fired missionaries after they have raised their funding and kept the donations for their sole purposes. CCC President Stephen Douglass, Vice President- Steve Sellers and Campus Ministry division head Mark Gauthier can make changes that treat missionaries and their donors with more integrity.

  • Department of Education: Educate everyone with online video website.
The concept of having free, instructional videos on a wide range of academic subjects delivered in a systematic and entertaining way is a wonderful idea. Khan Academy is at the head of class. In Salman Khan’s* own words, “With over 3,100 videos on everything from arithmetic to physics, finance, and history and hundreds of skills to practice, we're on a mission to help you learn what you want, when you want, at your own pace.” This website is a national treasure. Check it out. http://www.khanacademy.org/ With the full resources of the United States government, libraries, and teachers around the country, an American Academy website could have more than a million videos, by a variety of teachers, covering the full range of human knowledge. In order for all American citizens to have the chance to compete in a global economy, start successful businesses, or have meaningful careers in the future, they need to have access to the world’s knowledge in a systematic, accessible, understandable, and entertaining fashion. This website, www.AmericanAcademy.gov**, would help students, teachers, and lifelong learners. Of course, the world will have access to American Academy. I believe that the more people know about the world, the more chances we have to solve the world’s problems. * I have not contacted the folks at Khan Academy, nor am I in any way affiliated with them. ** The name of the website is not important, but the concept is.

  • OVERTURN BANKRUPTCY REFORM LAWS
During this year alone, hundreds of thousands of Americans are expected to be too broke to file for bankruptcy. The average cost to file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection, the most common form of consumer bankruptcy, is more than $1,500, according to the most recent research submitted to the National Bureau of Economic Research. Then there are the additional costs on top of this, including fees for mandatory pre-bankruptcy credit counseling and a pre-discharge debtor education course. According to a recent study sponsored by the American Bankruptcy Institute, these average about $85 altogether. As a result, there are anywhere between 200,000 and one million consumers, it is estimated, who will be unable to meet the steep cost of filing. What this means is that many Americans, who have seen their debt spin out of control because of things like job loss, foreclosure or a medical emergency, are now left without their last financial lifeline. Yes, Virginia, there really is a Santa Claus, and the the 2005 Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act, was a gift to make it Christmas morning, every morning, for the Bankruptcy Lawyers, Banks and Credit Card Companies.

  • Scool Loan Forgiveness Program
In this dismal market economy, I feel that school loans should be forgiven, at least until the economy improves, as it will be even more difficult to get a job if the outstanding loans go on our credit reports.

  • Marissa Alexander - 20 Years For Warning Shot
Florida's stand your ground defense appears only to apply when you shoot someone dead. Marissa Alexander fired a warning shot at her abusive husband, once of the bullets went through the childrens room. The bullet did not hit anyone. She received a 20 year sentence from an unjust judge and prosecution team. Instead of us examining other countries laws, we should be examining our own, without delay and political red tape.
