The Social Security/ Medicare fund was always well funded by those who payed forward. Unfortunately it wasn't locked and over the years Congress has borrowed from it and not paid back. This fund needs to be unavailable for any reason except to its investors for pension and health care. It has not run out of money as we've been told. It was embezzled out of money.

Pennsylvania (and other states) should revise DUI laws to permit offenders LIMITED driving privileges to work/school, mandated Counseling and Highway Safety School attendance, and medical care. People convicted of DUI are losing jobs, dropping out of school, and avoiding medical care because their licenses are suspended and they are prohibited from driving under any circumstance.

No more salaries to any person running for a government office who already has a job which supports them, and or said job pays them min salary wage. No more perks to said person. You want the job; you do the same as the rest of us, drive your own car to work, ride a bus or take a cab and pay for it out of your own pocket just like the average citizen must do. Immediately end all offices currently held to two year terms, and limit all incoming offices to two years. This will end the "lifetime" jobs to the rich and well connected have held from one political family to the next. Make all persons running for office prove there birth place with a birth certificate before they are elected, not two years after the fact.

People have no idea the influence Unions have in the political process. They are corrupt and are strangling the democratic party. Look at what's happening in Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal. Too many people on the Gov't payroll, supported by unions, with not enough people to pay all the lavish benefits. When you attempt to act responsibly and reduce benefits, they riot.

If you are an American citizen you should honor your right to vote by voting, and each of us should pledge to do so. We should also send a message to candidates that our vote means something because we will only vote for a candidate who pledges to place his constituents' will and needs above party ideology, special causes and the influence of lobbyists and donors.

My petition is about the educational papers that I have that have not made me gainfully employed but the Department of Education would like to get paid for the loans that they issued me. Why should I pay this money back and the schools that I attended did not help me with gaining employment. RMU and Keller are not giving you the correct training but the Department of Education would like to get paid. Well I wanted to get paid back in 2004 when I graduated with a BBA and then in 2009 when I graduated with a MPA. Why is it that I have not been interviewed for a job since 2005 for a position in anything. Maybe the movie that just showed at the movies is right. Devry was not a good school to go to for an education but it still remains that I have to pay the Dept. of Ed.?

There have been studies showing that it's hard for ex-offenders to find work. I am an ex-offender have been diligently searching for work, to no avail. The sad part is people read your resume and see that you have checked the box where you been a convicted felon, and judge the book before reading it. A lot of these EX-offenders and the keyword is "ex" are mainly looking for second chances.

In the average state election, less than 20% of campaign contributions come from within the election district. What honest purpose could companies and individuals have when giving money to influence who will represent you but not them?

With the amount of media attention being paid toward LGBT youth violence and self harm rising, it's time to let the people decide how to address the issue. LGBT people have no official voice and no identity amongst our formal education system. Instead, the far right has its say by maintaining a gag order against even the mention of anything remotely related to LGBT culture in texts, lectures, etc. This must change in order to gain the validation necessary so that queer youth have a solid foundation toward self, wherein they can contribute to the larger identity of the United States and the world. We already have a place in Global Culture, why not in education?

currently commanding officer's are personally responsible for those under their command,as it should be except in this case, a commanding officer can kiss his career goodbye if a sexual assault happens amongst his troops,the CO has every reason to cover it up and no reason to follow through except honor which is small comfort midway through a career.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission doesn't take complaints seriously! I have a complaint that has been basically ignored since filing...The Commission is in with the same companies that are reported to them, thus invalidating the seriousness of the complaint.

On Wednesday, Howie Carr, a conservative talk radio host wrote an offensive column for The Boston Herald entitled "White and Wrong: On the reservation with Elizabeth Warren". Here are just a couple of the unbelievable quotes from the column: "The race card—like so many others, Barack Obama never leaves home without it. " "Maybe someday [Warren will] even smokum peace pipe with Tim Geithner. Also, that it goes so far as to infer—that any person who identifies themselves as a person of color and holds a position of power, that they only did so by playing the "race card". We all know that political campaigns get ugly. We shouldn't expect the contest between Elizabeth Warren and Scott Brown to be an exception. But dragging out despicable stereotypes and denigrating whole groups of people goes way too far. Instead of stoking the fires of this hate-filled story, the Brown campaign needs to focus on the issues. That's why I created a petition on SignOn.org to Senator Brown, asking him to make it clear that he wont give silent approval to these kinds of attacks.
