• Tell PA Legislators- Quit ALEC or join the GOP
There are at least two Democratic PA legislators who are members of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). Those legislators are Rep. Joseph Petrarca (D, Armstrong, Westmoreland) and Rep. W. Curtis Thomas (D, Philadelphia). ALEC is not a lobby; it is not a front group. It is much more powerful than that. Through ALEC, behind closed doors, corporations hand state legislators the changes to the law they desire that directly benefit their bottom line. Corporations fund almost all of ALEC's operations. Participating legislators, overwhelmingly conservative Republicans, then bring those proposals home and introduce them in statehouses across the land as their own brilliant ideas and important public policy innovations—without disclosing that corporations crafted and voted on the bills. Our last petition worked- Rep. Kotik, Sen. Williams and Sen. Boscola have quit ALEC! New documents found that there are 2 more PA Dems in ALEC. Sign this petition and get the last two Dems to quit.

  • credit Card Interest Regulations
Most, if not all, credit cards carry an exhorbitant interest rate, making it take literally YEARS to pay off the damn things. Interest rates on credit cards should be slashed at least in half, and you know what?? I bet the banks will still be making tons of money in profits for their limousines, mansions, and oh yeah, maybe to pay their fair share of TAXES too.

  • Bottle Law
Too many glass bottles are being thrown onto the streets, sidewalks, and bike paths. This causes not only flat bicycle tires from glass shards cutting into the tires but also injury to children's feet. A bottle law coerces people to trade in those glass bottles for cash instead of the throwing the bottles in the street where they are being a danger to children and bicycle riders. California, Oregon, and other states have this law and so should Arizona.

  • State Board Examination requirenment for Fitness Professionals
My petition is to get a law requiring anybody who works in or states to have expertise in the Fitness industry to pass a NJ State board test ,before being allowed to train or charge anyone for services. Right now the person who cuts your hair has more oversight than the one who trains, your wife , husband, girlfriend boyfriend or children. We need to make certain that those who are payed money in the Fitness Industry because they are percieved to be experts actually know what they are doing. This bill would take the guess work out of hiring for the consumer and bring more confidence to the Industry ,while weeding out dangerous unqualified trainers. My bill would require anyone teaching or making money off the sales of Fitness training to take a NJ state Board test, This would test thier profeciencies in the areas of basic human Anatomy& Physiology required in the Industry as well as ,basic First Aid,Exercise Science and Nutrtion. There would be two parts to the test 1 hour written and 45 minute Practical ,demonstrating a knowlege proper program design proper program excution, and basic fitness assesment skills. The cost of testing could either be a Direct fee,or an add on fee for when people sign on to certification courses,as condition that those certification Organizations would be allowed to either operate or collect money from NJ residents they would be charged a modest fee that would have a cap of what they could add on to the cost of their Trainer Education courses. As a result of these new rules and regulations we not only get rid of bad trainers, but also bad training courses that take money from those wanting to be Fitness Professionals' and teach them nothing. Test fees should stay under $250 to remain reasonable. The reason I am proposing this is I have been in the Fitness Industry for over 14 years and have seen the horrors of bad training.,One company that I worked was soo bad that a District manager almost put a women in the hospital ,who had MS!,

  • Democratic National Committee: Invest In The Scott Walker Recall Now!
As a Wisconsin progressive working day and night to recall Scott Walker, I'm shocked: The DNC still isn't giving financial support to the recall fight in Wisconsin. After more than a year of grassroots efforts, Wisconsin citizens have accomplished more than anyone thought possible. We now have a Democratic challenger to Scott Walker who is neck and neck in the polls, even though Tom Barrett is being outspent by Walker's millions from out-of-state donations. There is no more time for the Democratic National Committee to wait—if Walker wins, it would be a huge setback to Democrats in races across the country this year. We need the DNC's support immediately!

  • buy back the economy
In my childhood, a purchase involved just me and the merchant. Today most transactions give a percentage to a credit card company (read wall street). This is like a 2-5 percent tax on every purchase. I suggest that the govt (fed and /or state) issue a visa type credit card to benefit human service spending on local food shelter and health programs. His would enable us to choose whether we want to to support our fellow citizens rather than the 1 percent wall street represents.

  • Charlotte County School Superintendent/ Charlotte Technical Center: Let us continue our Medical A...
Hello, my name is Shay La Price, and I am-was in a two year Medical Assisting Program at the votec. I thought I would be a certified Medical Assistant by next year when I graduated school. Unfortunately three days ago, they told us they no longer wanted to continue our program due to “budget cuts”. If money is an issue, then why did they buy Ipads they no longer let students use anymore, and build an entire café on the bottom of the votec? Too add more fuel to the fire, the only class they are doing this too is the Medical Assisting class because it’s” new”. There are many students who next year thought our program would have already been accredited like they promised and swore up and down they would in 2010-2011, and there are 2nd year students who were supposed to be Certified M.A.’s this year because they promised them that it would get done. No longer can we do this, because once again they lied to them as well, and now two years of their life is wasted. All of us both the 2nd years and 1st just want to finish our program, and know that some of us did not waste one or two years of our education. In the second year class I believe 7 are involved, but not sure. In the first year there are 14 of us. Here is a list of some of the students involved.

  • DNC help Wisconsin Win against Walker
I just watched the Ed Show and want to express my thoughts! I think that the Democratic National Committee must invest in Wisconsin's plight against Scott Walker and do it now! I am a Democrat and I do not understand why we all are not helping to get rid of this "First Destructive Governor" that is so against the people of Wisconsin with his Lies to Congress, Diane Hendricks and the American People about how he planned to break up the Unions.

  • Make Bedford County's Children a Priority - Restore Funding To Our Public Schools!
If Governor Corbett's proposed budget is approved, Bedford County Public Schools would have lost more than $4,669,000 in funding since 2010! We must make our voice heard in Harrisburg to our legislators that they must make our children the priority and restore funding to our public schools!
