• Eliminating All Double Standards
Double Standards are inherently unjust and they're at the heart of our most pressing foreign and domestic problems Even more troubling, is the fact that there is a growing trend for politicians and others to use double standards to address major world problems. This trend will likely continue unless we, the people, begin demanding the removal of all double standards from our foreign or domestic policies. This "NO MORE D.S." would apply to all three branches of both our federal and state governments .

  • The Old and the Young In The Workplace.
The two largest demographic blocs in the United States with the most difficulty finding employment are those 18-24 and those 55-65+. Mainly because in the case of the former, businesses of all sizes want "experienced workers", and in the case of the latter, "they're too old, cost us more in salary and benefits, etc".

  • No Smoking On Playgrounds
I'm sick & tired of taking my son to the park & having to constantly dodge him away from people who insist on smoking while their kids play. I understand that it's an outdoor space, but their smoke travels into the faces of the children & it can cause issues with children with respiratorty problems as well as the multitude of other heath issues caused by smoking.

  • IN SOURCE AMERICA FOR MORE JOBS
Last fall ABC News in their 6:30 evening edition had a reoccurring feature that was to encourage consumers to buy American made Christmas presents. They stated that the average family spent $700.00 on Christmas presents and if only $70.00 of this was on American goods, that this would INCREASE employmentin the US by 200,000 It is way past the time in which we need to bring back the jobs that have left us over the last 30 years. So, here is what WE can do: 1... Contact the major retailers to ask them , where ever possible, to products made in America. We need to get them to PLEDGE to do this. If they do this they will be rewarded by being placed on a list of like-minded companies that wish to do the PATRIOTIC thing. 2...Retailers will be be given the opportunity to gradually replace their non-American made inventory with American made goods by Thanksgiving of this year. 3...Should a retailer choose NOT to sign the pledge and continue to purchase NON-AMERICAN made goods, we will publicize this along with any other non-patriotic companies via the web and we will PICKET their business during the Christmas buying season.

  • VCU, We Need Clean, Renewable Energy!
As one of the largest universities in the state and an advocate for energy sustainability, VCU must do everything in its power to encourage clean, renewable energy projects in Virginia. According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation, our university is located in the asthma capital of the country -- for two years running. Virginia Beach lands a number eight spot. One of the main reasons is due to poor air quality. VCU has a great opportunity to play a role in changing this by achieving the university's stated goal of carbon neutrality by 2050. Dominion Virginia Power is VCU's sole provider of electricity and VCU cannot "go green" without a shift from Dominion towards clean, renewable energy. Our main goal is to get students across the state to sign on in support of this movement. However, any support we can generate throughout the state will help our overall cause so please, if you sign this petition, clarify whether or not you are associated with VCU.

  • Stop Companies From Getting Into Our Facebook Accounts!
Make corporations post their opinions and sentiments and emails online! More companies are reviewing Facebook accounts and asking their employees for passwords. Social media- like Facebook and twitter allow us to express our feelings and emotions...rather than harbor them and then act out violently! I am asking you all to sign this petition to let everyone know, that we all deserve privacy and the right to voice our opinions without fear of reprisal even though we may not share the same sentiments and opinions! Make it illegal for companies to use Facebook opinions expressed by employees and stop them from asking for facebook passwords.

  • End Hemp Prohibition
Hemp is an incredible versatile plant with a plethora of uses including rope, high quality paper, food products, and clothing. As an excellent alternative to cotton and timber, it can easily be grown by farmers anywhere, with a very low environmental impact. Yet, due to smear campaigns and lobbyists of the timber industry in the past, hemp is currently treated as its THC-rich cousin, marijuana, and cannot legally be grown in the United States without a nearly impossible to obtain permit from the DEA-- despite not being a drug. With its incredible potential benefits to the environment, farmers, and the people, the need for hemp legalization is strong. It's time to end the madness, and end hemp prohibition.

  • Reform Campaign Finance in America
We need to reform campaign finance in America so our politicians are not controlled by corporations and wealthy interest groups. This is the only way to free our politicians and allow them to govern based on their moral, ethical and intellectual conscious and not by the demands of those who paid to put the politician in office for the advancement of their own greedy needs and wants.

  • Future Mayor: Defend Democracy in L.A.
The current race for Los Angeles mayor is set to be the most expensive in our city's history. And, believe it or not, just last month the City Ethics Commission voted to raise campaign contribution limits even further. This decision - like that of the U.S. Supreme Court in "Citizens United" - is an insult to the 99%, and has put this Great City's very democracy on the chopping block. We're calling on all candidates for Los Angeles Mayor to commit to establishing citywide elections that are clean, fair, and open to all Angelinos regardless of wealth!
