• Exclude commercial properties from prop 13
Prop 13 bases property taxes on the original purchase price. While this contributes to the stability of neighborhoods, it is a windfall for commercial properties and deprives the state of needed revenue.

  • AFA-PDT Contract Now

We, the flight attendants, our affected family and friends are ready to see the hard working flight attendants of Piedmont Airlines get a CONTRACT NOW. We are signing this petition in support of their endeavor to get a contract now with improvements rather than with a no-cost mindset presented by Piedmont at every turn. Piedmont Airlines works because the flight attendants do!

  • End Corporate Personhood
We need a constitutional amendment to counteract the terrible impact of the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision. Corporations are not people and should not have all the same rights as people. In particular, given their excessive economic power, corporations' "free speech" rights should be strictly curbed.

  • Restore Adult Medicaid Program in NJ
Gov. Christie cut all state funding for health care as of March 2010 in NJ and only left what was funded by the Federal government, which means now only children are covered by NJ Family Care, no more parents. The only exception to this is people who are disabled or over 65. So many people are out of work in NJ and have no more health insurance from their jobs and cannot afford to buy private health insurance. I was told that the adults currently on NJ Family Care will be denied coverage when the time comes for them to renew.

  • State Farm: Stop using our money to finance the right-wing agenda
According to SourceWatch, State Farm Insurance is a major supporter of ALEC, the group that came up with "model legislation" adopted by a number of Republican-led state legislatures such as the Stand Your Ground law in Florida, voter ID laws that disenfranchise poor, elderly and minority voters, and the attacks on unions in Wisconsin, Ohio and Indiana. State Farm is different from most of the other members of ALEC because it is not investor-owned. State Farm is a mutual benefit corporation, a kind of financial cooperative, which means that it is owned by its policy-holders, pooling their money to provide insurance services. The money it gives to ALEC rightfully belongs to its policyholder-owners, and State Farm has no right to use it to fund ALEC's right-wing agenda. You do not need to be a State Farm policyholder to sign! If you are, please leave a comment about how long you have been with State Farm and how many policies you have with them.

  • Build Better Houses
The United States, moreover, the midwest has been subject to countless injuries and deaths to to volatile storms and tornadoes. It is time to take action against homebuilders and code-setters to build better, stronger houses. The aim of this is to show that the home builders such as Toll Brothers get away with making weak, cheap houses to increase profit, rather than use re-enforced concrete to build sturdy homes that can withstand powerful storms. By bringing this issue to light, the home builders and government must raise the standards of building homes so that the insurance companies don't make out on each and every disastrous incident.
