  • Expungement of Records after a pardon
There are many people in Alabama that can not find a good job because of a past record. Most of those people have been pardoned or have done their time and haven't been in anymore trouble. Every time one of those individuals apply for a job the past stops them. There are many out of work people in Alabama because of this.

  • Push Renewable Energy and Zero-Emission Vehicles
Alternative energy is the future, and those of us who know it, do so to the core of our being. As of now, alternative energy devices and vehicles are cost-prohibitive, and there is a dominant public perception that sticking with the fossil fuel economy is a better bet than investing into our renewable energy future. Solar and wind and EV technology are three technological forces that could change the landscape of this culture, the world, and the way they both operate - given the proper popularity and pricing that made them attractive to typical American consumers, they may "take off" and be a viable force to challenging the hegemony of the oil economy.

  • Changes to Drivers' Training and Rules of the Roads for Young Drivers Desperately Needed in Iowa
-Teen aged drivers have more vehicular crashes/wrecks than any other age group. -Young drivers carry more passengers and are more likely "not" to buckle up. -Of all deaths in the 15-19 year old age group in the U.S., 41.4% are directly related to motor vehicles. -Iowa has the youngest, least trained and least experienced drivers in the U.S. -An inestimable, but considerable number of accidents and number of lives lost could prevented and reduced with a more in-depth, more concentrated, longer and Iowa drivers' training programs and stricter laws governing young drivers.

  • Remove Rush Limbaugh from Santa Cruz Air Time
Rush Limbaugh stirs up hate and discord in the name of free speech. While this is unfortunate, he has now gone a step too far, in my opinion, in his pornographic attack on the right of free speech of a young woman defending women's health issues. I would like to see him removed from the air time he has so irresponsibly abused.

  • Paid Maternity Leave
All mothers and infants need to be together to bond and to breastfeed. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends a full year of breastfeeding for both baby's and mother's health. This doesn't happen when moms have to return to work after six weeks (if they have paid sick leave). Most families can't afford to take unpaid family leave.

Toxic flame retardant chemicals, known to cause cancers, are applied to mattresses by law in California since 2005. By signing this petition, we can force our legislators to retract this law and not acquiesce to the powerful chemical companies that benefit financially from this law. California citizens, demand the right to sleep on non-toxic beds!

  • Keep Private Business from Taking Over Medicaid
There is a state proposal to hand Medicaid over to private insurance companies. Do we really want one of our social safety net programs so vital to many of the state's poor in the hands of a "for profit" organizations whose only motive is to make a profit?
