As a group, large Corporations spend billions of dollars on advertising on the premise that we will buy into their products/services simply by "hitting" us over the head until we become brainwashed by their message (think Coca-Cola). Usually, the products that we buy are inferior to their smaller competitors in the marketplace. These smaller companies have much smaller advertising budgets, so are "drowned out" in today's noisy, relentless struggle for the consumers attention and subsequent hard earned cash. It's time a level playing field was introduced based on creativity and ingenuity... Products should be judged by their stand-alone quality, not available advertising $$$, equally pitted against one another just as true Capitalism originally intended. This would ensure that inferior products would be marginalized and superior ones would serve their consumers. Survival of the fittest, not the diabolically sweetest (think Coca-Cola).

When the filibuster is used to block or delay indefinitely legislative or appointment action by the President or a Senate majority, it violates the Constitution. Vice President Biden presides over the Senate, and so could refuse to enforce its use for that purpose. Much of the political dysfunction in recent years has been enabled by use or threats to use the filibuster, the effect being to block or delay Senate action and Presidential programs and appointments.

MBTA union employees were getting a 3.5% while Social Security recipients got none. We had about a four hundred dollar increase this year. MBTA unions pay little towards their health insurance co-pay + other medical costs. Seems unfare to raise fares on our backs.

The Senate has put the worst imaginable version of the open-pit mining bill (AB 426) on the fast track. It was not the intention of American's founding fathers to encourage tyranny and manipulation of our political system by any entity, whether government, business, or religion. Rather, it was their intention that ordinary citizens be protected against such tyrannies, and to that end the Declaration of Independence was written and ratified. To the extent that corporations can outspend ordinary citizens in access to the politicians and lobbying for business interests, it creates a tyranny. The Supreme Court decision granting corporations unlimited right to contribute to politicians and policital causes should be overturned by a Federal constitutional amendment ratified in all 50 stattes.
