Our present system of financing campaigns for all offices is destroying democracy. Having politicians write the rules of campaign financing is self-serving. Presently almost no one runs for office without backing from organizations. Corporations, unions and foreign countries expect a return on their money when they contribute to a candidate. Their interests seldom support the 99%. Corporations are not people and yet our Supreme Court has ruled they are when it comes to financing campaigns. Doing what's right for the country is secondary to doing what's good for a particular political party. Besides costing billions, never-ending campaigning takes leaders away from their elected jobs and is an intrusion in our lives

We want the US to withdraw all troops from Afghanistan within six months. There's no hope of "winning" there. Both the government and the Taliban are corrupt. We've spent too much money, too many lives there.

Unless Congress acts to reinstate the pretax benefits, there will be a bias in favor of automobile commuting, with public transit commuters only able to set aside $125 a month, and auto commuters allowed up to $240 a month. The banks and mortgage companies were bailed out. Now, they are not helping regular Americans who need a break. This petition is calling on banks and mortgage companies to begin in earnest to help the millions of Americans who are underwater in their mortgages, to readjust or refinance home mortgages.

As long as politicians control the districting process, either directly or through committees, it will not be fair and equal. The only way to ensure impartiality is have an automated process that will do the districting and guarantee that voter-determined criteria are uniformly applied. Note that this is completely bipartisan - the same rules that can split up a Democratic district in the Sacramento area can merge two Republican districts in Los Angeles into one.

We cannot be hyprocritial about making the hardest working group in our nation our scapegoats for things gone wrong in our country. We depend so much on these people to do our hard work in the fields, inside and outstide our homes. They bring food to our tables, take care of our kids, do our yards and believe it our not contribute to our social security coffers without receiving anything back in return. We are better than that as a country. We are a nation founded by immigrants. President Obama doesn't deserve the support of our immigration relatives who are citizens because he did not keep the promise of overhauling the immigration law and allowed ICE to conduct record number of raids and deportations, yet he can start winning this potentially decisive voting block by signing a presidential policy change and approve DREAM Act.

Late fees on credit cards for seniors are another unfair banking practice. Seniors receive SSI monthly, but not on a particular date each month. If payments are adequate and regular, the senior should not be charged late fees just because his payment schedule cannot always match the bank's schedule. When seniors are charged $300-$400 a month just in late fees, the banks are taking an unfair advantage of the people who can least afford to pay such fees.All seniors should support this elimination of late fees because of inability to pay on the bank's schedule caused by illness, injury or other problems particular to seniors on fixed incomes.

Fathers human rights and constitutional rights are being violated by Family Court Judges and uncooperative co-parents daily and this has a negative impact on children and society alike. In 90% of all child-custody cases mothers are awarded residential custody based solely on their gender and not on the "Best Interest of the Child". Many studies has been conducted on this matter and it has been concluded that children that grow up without their father are more like to become juvenile delinquents, high school drop outs, incarcerated, drug abusers, teen parents, commit domestic violence and more. Fathers are very important to the rearing and upbringing of a child and should be treated fairly in child custody hearings. If an irresponsible attorney makes mistakes that cause people harm and he carries NO Malpratice Insurance and has NOTHING in his name, he/she has insulated himself/herself from lawsuits BUT they can turn around and sue you.. This is injustice and is unfair. This has to be corrected.by a law that would require any attorney to carry Malpractice Insurance to be licensed to practice law!

In a misguided effort to correct their own flawed business models, most airlines now charge for the right to check even a single suitcase. And yet, the airlines reserve the right to place your suitcase(s) on a different flight without telling you in advance and without being obliged to offer you a refund for a service they did not, in fact, provide. If airlines want to charge for baggage service, they should be required to actually provide that service rather than subject passengers to the extreme inconvenience and stress that invariably accompanies arrival at a destination without one's belongings. If the airlines are going to charge for a service, they should be required to provide it or refund your money. Period.
