U.S. Citizens have a Constitutional right to privacy. That privacy is violated or chilled by the government's implementation of private, third-party trackers and cookies (such as Google CAPTCHA and Analytics) upon government websites. Essentially, the Federal government is explicitly allowing, and facilitating, private companies to build profiles on every American that visits the website - these are sensitive records (DHS, IRS, Healthcare.gov, etc.), the use of which we have a right to have held confidential by the Federal Government. The Federal government is more than capable of building-in its own trackers which do not violate privacy issues, as they do currently with Copyright.gov and the U.S. PTO.

There are reasons to be concerned that a pattern has been established under which the District fails to seek and, thus, generate a pool of qualified candidates for senior administrative positions. In this vein, the last search for a Superintendent included a posting of the position which cited the existence of a "strong internal candidate". This resulted in a near-total absence of qualified outside candidates despite the attraction of a new, state-of-the-art high school building. Additionally, no apparent effort was made to attract a *licensed* principal to fill the recently (and twice-) vacated position at Lanesborough Elementary School. The core values outlined for the District state: "We recognize the responsibility of the entire school community to ensure the success of all students.” The argument for utilizing a transparent and inclusive process to fill such key positions is strengthened by the documented extraordinary turnover in non-union staff experienced within the District since Ms. Grady became Assistant Superintendent in June of 2016. According to northwestharvest.org, 1 in 10 people struggle with hunger, and 1 in 8 people (half of which are children) rely on food stamps. Meanwhile, Washingtonians are throwing out eight percent of edible food (data taken by your site, The Washington Department of Ecology). Food that could ultimately help these people eat every night. By requiring grocery stores to donate food they would throw away, we would reduce food waste and feed those who are struggling to feed themselves.

For the citizens of Mississippi. This is to get loved ones out of horrible prisons and back in to society. This men and women get out they will get jobs and start paying taxes. We can get our prison systems in order and up to code. We can get innocent out. We can get loved ones back in our lives every day and not just one day a week for four hours. We can get guards that care and not over worked or just needing a job.

This is important because this ice cream shop has been in Sarasota for 36 years and is a staple of joy in many resident's childhood and current lives. As fear of a global pandemic continues to escalate, Trump has announced that he assembled a team to lead the U.S. response — with Mike Pence as head of the task force. Gregg Gonsalves, assistant professor of epidemiology at Yale University, responded on Twitter: “It’s like putting an arsonist in charge of the fire department, a bank robber in charge of the U.S. Mint.” We couldn’t agree more. People’s lives are literally at stake and too many have already been sacrificed due to Pence’s disbelief in science and inability to lead on public health as governor of Indiana. The cost is simply too high. Trump and his cronies are concerned that this crisis will negatively impact their popularity — and we’ve got a critical moment to capitalize on their craven understanding of politics in order to make the U.S. (and the entire world, really) safer in the face of the potential coronavirus pandemic. It is beyond irresponsible to place someone who distrusts basic science and public health research at the head of the U.S. response to a virus that is quickly spreading across borders and negatively impacting everything from global trade to local school schedules. Tell Congress: Our public health deserves better than Mike Pence.

Keeping vital information behind a paywall prevents nonsubscribers from accessing important information, and it disproportionately affects people with fewer financial resources. The Seattle Times recently announced that it would allow unlimited public access to stories about the virus. Other major newspapers should follow their lead for the safety of the public. The public must be empowered with reliable and up-to-date information in order to take practical safety measures and prevent transmission of the virus. Sharing accurate information also guards against the spread of unnecessary panic. Access to these resources is also an issue of equity -- lower income populations that are not able to afford newspaper subscriptions are excluded when paywalls lock them out. With the decline of local newspapers, information increasingly flows from national outlets. [3] Public health and awareness are at stake -- all people have a right to protect themselves, their families, and their livelihood and deserve access to high-quality reporting and insight from scientific experts.

When I look at the Democratic field I see a lot of talent and good ideas. But this positive message is lost in the bickering that makes them all so unattractive. Democrats have a mission to serve the needs of all classes, all races in this country including former Trump voters. People are tired of fighting. Give them hope and unity and a positive cohesive message.
