• Tell the Trump administration to stop hiding the whistleblower report
A whistleblower from inside the Trump Administration has filed a complaint against the President -- including a "promise" Trump made in a conversation with a foreign leader, according to multiple press accounts. What did he promise? Who did he promise it to? We don’t know and neither does Congress -- because Trump is abusing his power to cover up what happened. His administration has refused to pass the whistleblower's complaint on to Congress as the law requires. This is a clear cut abuse of power -- and completely unacceptable in a democracy. Whistleblowers take on great personal risk to expose wrongdoing by the powerful. They’re the only reason countless presidential scandals have made it into public view. That’s why we have legal protections for whistleblowers -- which must be followed. But unfortunately, presidents in both parties have abused their power to silence or retaliate against whistleblowers. It's vitally important that we speak up for transparency right now. That's why Congress must immediately take action to protect this national security official who was so concerned about Trump’s actions that they decided to come forward. Congress deserves to know what Trump said, who he said it to, and any other details of the complaint. And, they must expand protections that ensure government whistleblowers can’t be silenced or retaliated against for speaking the truth.

  • Tell Our Presidential Candidates that Young People Care about Addressing Our Alzheimer's Crisis: ...
Know anyone taking care of an aging family member or older adult? Yeah. So do we. In fact, there are 16 million caregivers providing 18 billion hours in unpaid care for those affected by the disease. It is estimated that 25% of these individuals are millennials. Presidential candidates need to express this issue as a national priority and do more to provide solutions for Alzheimer's and young caregivers. More about YMAA at www.theyouthmovement.org

  • Live Up to Amazon Inc. and Bring Down the Amazon Fires
Jeff Bezos CEO and President of Amazon Dear Mr. Bezos, As founder, CEO, and president of Amazon, Inc., you have become one of the world’s most successful entrepreneurs, businessmen, and philanthropists. Undoubtedly, you are often asked to give financial support to remedy problems that face both our nation and the world at large. Right now, you have a live or die opportunity to lead the fight, to live up to your company’s name, and save the Amazon. Governments in that area view deforestation as a financial boon, and by ignoring its negative long-term effects, they are destroying the world’s most important barrier against global warming. As the head of Amazon, and with substantial resources at your disposal, you can supply extraordinary aid to the region and, in effect, have your business live up to its name in heroic fashion. In your much-quoted tweet from two years ago, you wrote that you wanted your philanthropic activity to help people “at the intersection of urgent need and lasting impact.” This is the time. You have four children. They and all the beloved children around the world face the risk that our climate will be impacted so severely that their generation may not survive. Respectfully, we ask, pray, beg you to understand the urgency of this day. The time to save the earth is now! With gratitude,

  • The University of Colorado Boulder Should Address The Climate Crisis
The catastrophic and human-caused consequences of ecological negligence have resulted in prospects that are growing darker for the survival of humanity with each passing day. Responding to the global climate crisis will require transformation of economic systems at every level from the individual to the local, to the global. The University of Colorado (CU) Boulder is perhaps the institution with the greatest potential to affect change in Boulder. The students and the members of the Boulder community are impassioned by the lack of urgency with which CU’s Administration is approaching the climate crisis. Working toward its solutions not only will secure the livelihoods of our grandchildren and great grandchildren, it also represents the greatest business opportunity of our time. We the members of the Boulder community therefore submit a petition to the Administration of CU Boulder to demand their action on the climate crisis.

  • Appeal to US Congress
Subject: Petition To The American House Of Representatives The US government is planning to send a billion dollars to Somalia (a country in East Africa). According to a statement issued by the US Ambassador to Somalia, the money would be used for humanitarian assistance, expanding education and healthcare, building institutions, and creating jobs. Now, this would be great if the Somali Government actually used the money for developing their own country. According to Transparency International, Somalia is ranked the most corrupt nation in the world, tied with North Korea. And according to a UN report, 70% of foreign aid received is unaccounted for. In fact, the United States suspended food and fuel aid to the Somali Government in 2017 because they were unable to account for all the aid given. Now the highly regarded congress must ask themselves, if we can’t trust this Somali Government to distribute food to its own people, then why should we trust that they would use our hard-earned tax dollars to better their county? Not to mention this is the same government in Somalia that has rigged its nation's election process, and when their citizens questioned them the government had them arrested and even killed. When the UN questioned them, the government ousted the UN Ambassador from the country. If you don’t want your tax dollars used to support a nation that can’t even be trusted with food, then sign this petition and let our President and Congress know that we don’t trust this Somali Government with our money. We, the undersigned Somali Americans, are grateful for all that unites and binds us to one another as members of peace-loving and law-abiding citizens. As Somali-Americans, we value our way of life, and our highly developed culture, literature, and language. We recognize the intrinsic value of our shared heritage and we are fully aware of our common destiny. We all know what we share is much more important than what has divided us in our recent past, namely the politics of mistrust and fear. We are saddened by the destruction, death and utter devastation that has been visited upon our beloved country for the past 30 years, during which period Somalia has become a metaphor for a failed state, mired in mindless anarchy. The needless suffering of the Somali people at the hands of warlords and so-called corrupt government, who stoked inter-clan and intra-clan suspicion, and set Somali brothers and sisters against each other for personal and perverted political and economic ends, has been the source of shame and profound sorrow for ordinary Somalis everywhere. Indeed, the good name of the Somali nation has, during this period of misery, been scandalized. This disgraceful state of affairs cannot stand! Excellencies, We urge you to put the Somali nation’s interest before politics, recognizing that no one has a monopoly on truth. The Somali people have suffered long enough! We call upon for a complete cessation of hostilities and a renewed dedication to saving the lives of innocent people and save the Somali nations from so-called corrupt and terrorist collaborators in Mogadishu.

  • Save Edgemoor Swimming Pool
All children deserve the opportunity to learn to swim. It is lifesaving. Community pools are essential for teaching water skills and safety. Wichita families need access to affordable local swimming pools for recreation and learning. The City's plan to fill in Edgemoor Pool and construct a Splash Pad is unwise. Splash pads do not provide opportunities for children or adults to learn to swim. Splash pads do not provide bodies of water viable for teaching even minimal water survival skills. Splash Pads do not serve all age groups. Edgemoor swimming pool serves a large population in Northeast Wichita. Edgemoor swimming pool is well located in a large park at 9th and Edgemoor with a recreation center, fields, tennis and pickleball courts, and a nearby library. It is also a summer free lunch program site and meal site for the elderly. Since the City closed the pool in 2012, citizens are underserved. The other public pool in walking distance of Edgemoor Park has now become overcrowded, and has to turn people away. Renovate and re-open the Edgemoor swimming pool!

  • Put An End to School Bullying
For far too long leaders of our communities have emphasized their personal agenda, while only focusing some of their attention on issues surrounding bullying. When parents send their children to school, their hope is for their children to enter into a safe and secure environment where they will be able to learn, create life-long friendships, and go on to become leaders of the next generation. In most cases where bullying occurred there was no adult supervision. Policies have been put into place to prevent bullying, but have failed to do so. If stricter policies are put into play we may be able to limit the number of bullies in our schools. For far to long we’ve held the bullies accountable, but now it’s time for the schools to hold parents accountable. The parents of the bullies should be required to pay compensation for any damages, and if the victim has to have a doctor check up, the parents of the bully should be required to cover the costs. Sign the petition to demand that the Florida state Legislature endorses the passing of a bill that supports this. Let’s build a safe and secure environment for our children to learn - but not just for our generation, but for the generations to come. Let’s build a safer tomorrow.

  • Stop Sweat Shop Work Conditions at Amazon
Amazon is forcing it's employees at the CAE1, Columbia, S.C. location to limit their 'Time Off Task" to 3 minutes. The 5 minute Time Off Task Rule was already the lowest at any Amazon facility and a challenge to adhere to, and the new 3 minute "Time Off Task Rule" will be next to impossible to follow. No one abuses this rule because you only have a total of 30 minutes of 'Time Off Task per day. The nearest restroom to me is 50 yards away (half the distance of a football field) and for some associates the nearest restroom may be as far as 100 yards away. Now let's say for a minute that you had to go to the restroom for something other than a normal restroom run. (Which is hard enough to do under 3 minutes when you have to cover 50 yards of distance going and coming.) But let's just say you weren't feeling well that day because you had a stomach disorder or you felt light headed and needed time to adjust your self. These are perfectly acceptable personal reasons why an Amazon associate would be away from their station for more than 3 minutes, yet we're being disciplined for them. The other is we need supplies and we may need to leave our station sometimes to get boxes or labels or change to new labels when you run out. The labels we use come on 1000 label rolls and changing them alone takes longer than 3 minutes. Suppose while you were getting those supplies another associate asked you to explain a procedure to them that they knew little about because there was no manager on the floor and this took more than 3 minutes. Again, you would be in violation of the new 3 minute "Time Off Task Rule". There is something going on here that is even more troubling. Did I mention that our facility is the number two highest producing facility in the entire Amazon network. Yes, we are the number 2 producing facility in the entire Amazon network and that number is up from being the number 11 most producing facility. You would think with numbers like those we would have gotten a bonus or a raise for all of our hard work. Instead, we were punished for it. The employees who work for Amazon are honest hard working people and need their jobs to pay their bills and support their families. They are responsible for the billions of dollars that Amazon makes on a yearly basis and their jobs should not be threatened because they leave their work stations for 3 minutes. Will you please help by standing with the employees of Amazon and sign my petition demanding that Amazon raises it's "Time Off Task Rule to 7minutes or more which would be more reasonable.
