• Demand that your members of Congress speak out against Trump’s racism
Do your members of Congress agree with the President’s racism? It’s time for every single U.S. senator and representative to clearly let us know if they stand against hateful racism, sexism, and division! Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said that this latest, most blatant expression of the President’s racism reaffirms his goal to make “America white again.” The House passed a resolution condemning “President Donald Trump’s racist comments .” Such an official rebuke is timely and appropriate, but does not include the U.S. Senate, and also allows individual lawmakers to evade responsibility by getting lost in the crowd. That’s why we want every member of Congress to individually speak up now. Their constituents – us – need to know where they stand!

  • Expedia STOP discriminating against Seattle Hempfest!
Expedia bought the building at the north end of Centennial Park in Seattle a couple of years ago. Seattle Hempfest has been a beloved event in Seattle for 28 years now. Expedia is denying Hempfest access to the parking lot and roads at the North end of the park this year. Expedia makes thousands of dollars each year from our event. Our speakers, volunteers, and attendees come from all over the world to visit Seattle Hempfest and many of them book their flights, hotels, and rental cars through Expedia. Hempfest has used the public access roads 16th Avenue West and Amgen Parkway for over two decades. We load vendors and bands into the park in order to create a north-to-south flow of traffic so that cars and trucks do not have to turn around on the grass and cause destruction of the park. There are only a couple of places in the park where turning around a vehicle is even possible. We have great respect for being able to use Centennial and Myrtle Edwards parks for this event and we work very hard to minimize potential damage to our venue. Expedia has also asked the city to only allow load-in hours between 7:00 pm- 4:00 am. This makes our jobs impossibly difficult and causes undue stress for our vendors who must load their wares in and out of the park each day. As a volunteer, I am angered by the actions of Expedia to limit our access to the parks. Having to restructure our entire load-in and out processes through the South entrance has been difficult. We are a seasoned crew that has worked together for many years, and we have the routine down pat. Now we must change it because of Expedia. These changes mean that several key people in a couple of different departments will have to be at the South end when we need them in our respective departments. There is absolutely no reason that a company who makes so much money from our event should be causing harm to it. Please sign this petition and let the executives at Expedia know that this action is not acceptable, and they need to return access to the North end of the parks during the entire event process. I am a volunteer that is directly negatively impacted by Expedia denying Seattle Hempfest the use of public access roads.

  • Missouri: Universal Background Checks for Gun Purchases
Out of all the guns that are sold in private sales (in other words, every gun that is sold here in the USA by anyone other than a licensed gun dealer), 80% of them end up being used to commit crimes at some point. This statistic clearly shows us the reality of how necessary background checks truly are. To be frank, I'm not sure why anyone would be against a measure like this, given that the vast majority of background checks are completed within two minutes and the fact that Missouri law does not forbid many groups of individuals from having guns.

  • Have YouTube Create a Child Friendly Channel with Videos vetted by YouTube Staff.
Youtube is watched by over a billion viewers. They have no clear statistics as to how many of those viewers are children. In one Pew study, it was found that 81% of the respondents let their children under 11 watch YouTube. While parents are ultimately responsible for what their children watch, YouTube caters to a young group of their demographic, while taking no responsibility for the content they deliver. I would like to petition that YouTube create a separate app for children 12 and under. This app would only contain videos vetted by YouTube employees that have watched and signed off that the video contained none of the following: • Sexual content of any kind • Swearing • Adult situations • Realistic violence • No inserted scenes that are different from the video description Advertisements would be limited to age-appropriate toys, G-Rated Movies, and Youth-Rated Video Games. Any advertisement would also need to be watched and approved by YouTube staff. YouTube has become a common entity in our homes, we owe it to our children to protect them from content that is scary, violent, or otherwise inappropriate for a young audience.

  • Investigate detention camps for migrant children
When the government takes children from their parents, it has a legal and moral obligation to provide appropriate care for the children. We have seen and heard alarming reports that the government has failed to fulfill this obligation to immigrant children separated from their parents and detained upon entering the country. The executive branch has had more than enough time to correct these issues. It is past time for Congress to take a more active role.

  • Harlingen Immigration Judge: Release my husband
My husband Rovin Adonay Pineda-Tabora A200-816-190 came to the US in 2010 as an unaccompanied minor. He was released to his half brother in Ohio who didn't really care what happened to him. He wouldn't allow him to attend school or anything. He made him work for him. The money my husband made he ended up having to pay rent to his brother so he was left with little money for anything else. My husband was supposed to go to a court hearing in Harlingen, Texas but knew nothing of the court date. He then recieved an order of deportation in absentia because he didn't go in March 2011. I know all of this is true because I have been involved with this family since 2007. I filed the I-130, Petition for Family Relative in 2016. It was approved and sent to the Visa processing center. We paid the fees for the Visa center and was advised by the lawyer that we had at the time to put everything on hold and never heard from him again. We learned of my husband's deportation order when my husband was pulled over for a minor traffic stop (his diesel truck was smoking a little, like diesels do) and the Englewood Police Officer called his ICE buddy and he then placed my husband under arrest. My husband has never even had a ticket in his life. The officer also racially profiled my son who was born here. We did file for a motion to reopen his immigration case and it's been almost 3 months and we have heard nothing. He has been detained the whole time. I am asking you to sign my petition because my husband shouldn't be held accountable for missing court when he was only a child in the care of his brother who refused to help him. He shouldn't be held accountable for a mistake that an adult made.
