A secret Facebook group composed of approximately 9,500 current and former Border Patrol agents has been discovered. In the posts, members of the group joke about the deaths of migrants, discuss throwing burritos at Latino members of Congress visiting the detention centers in Texas, and they posted a vulgar illustration of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez engaging in oral sex with a detained immigrant. This border patrol Facebook group is just the latest example of law enforcement affiliation with hate groups on social media, particularly Facebook. Hundreds of active-duty and retired law enforcement officers have been found to be a part of Confederate, anti-Islam, anti-government and white supremacists groups on the social media platform. In 2018, Patrol Council, the union representing Border Patrol agents across the country endorsed a video that included white nationalists and anti-Muslim extremists. The xenophobic and racists attacks against immigrants who are simply looking for a better life for themselves and their families must stop. Now, more than ever, with the rise of hateful ideas like white nationalism it’s imperative to make sure our border agents are not infected with this hate. The prosecution of Dr. Warren is clearly an effort by DOJ to intimidate humanitarian aid workers at the southern border. This effort to retry him using alternative charges is clearly an abuse of the justice system as well as an effort to make conditions as inhumane as possible for refugees.

Children are not an existential threat to the United Sates, yet we have allowed at least 13,000 of them to be separated from their families at our southern border in systematic perpetration of ongoing cruelty. (White Canadian children would not be treated this way.) We must say NO to institutionalized cruelty on our own soil. Asylum seekers must be welcomed and processed according to treaties, all abuses must be stopped and punished, and children must be reunited with their parents.

Death threats are criminal whether they are online or in person. It is the responsibility of law enforcement to investigate and prosecute people in their jurisdiction who pose a threat to the public so we are bringing awareness and calling on law enforcement and elected officials in Decatur, IL to open a case against Michael Revelle Jr for making death threats to a community organizer and hero online. It is imperative to protect the public from the violence incited by these threats everyday. Women are harassed, stalked and worse due to online threats like this.

The Crazy Mountains are on public lands, yet are almost completely surrounded by checkerboarded private lands.
