  • PUERTO RICO PROTEST
RICARDO ROSELLO has FAILED Puerto Rico with corruption and sexist, mysogonistic, homophobic remarks. The people protesting are fighting police who continue to spray tear gas while the people march and try to protest peacefully. They are marching all over Puerto Rico to call out the governor to resign as of now Ricardo Rosello doesn't want to resign instead is trying to apologize for the corruption and harmful things he's said and done. PUERTO RICANS AND PUERTO RICO WILL NOT TOLERATE THIS ANYMORE! I know that together we can make Puerto Rico strong and demand for Ricardo Rosello to terminate his position as Govenor of Puerto Rico. Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz said it best in a statement written to President Donald Trump after he said she was a "despicable incompetent person whom he wouldn't trust" she responded with President Trump you never got it; and you never will. This is not about you; this is about the dignity of the Puerto Rican people. So Mr. President, here is a simple lesson on DIGNITY, something you Sir, know nothing about: what is happening in Puerto Rico is that a people united by a profound sense of dignity are on the streets protesting corruption and a misogynist, homophobic, two-faced governor. A governor, who in a chat, admits to withholding aid for Maria victims in order to have perfect timing to create FAKE NEWS and make himself look good. I'm proud of my people and understand they're an example to all people living under a regime of arrogance, divisiveness, insults, corruption and self aggrandizement. More than 100k took to the streets to exercise their right to defend our right to live in a sensible, just and peaceful society. Some people acted inappropriately and a willing governor-one who favors repression over expression-took the bait. But a few will not divert, nor distort, the hopes and unequivocal message of the many: Governor Rosselló of Puerto Rico must resign or be impeached. Mr. TRUMP, I understand you are unwilling and unable to understand DIGNITY when it hits you straight on. I also understand you cannot condemn corrupt, misogynistic, homophobic, and abusive behavior. After all, if you did, you would be passing judgement on yourself. I am a proud Latina and a proud Puerto Rican. Know this: WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED.” ‬ Please sign this petition to help the numbers grow and demand a better Puerto Rico for today, tomorrow and the future.

  • #FreeMariana and Reunite Her With Her Children
Imagine having your 5 and 7 year old children ripped out of your arms. That’s exactly what happened to Mariana this April. Mariana was wrongfully and unjustly separated from her 5 and 7 year old children by DHS in April. The emotional trauma is overwhelming. Mariana lost consciousness in custody a few weeks ago. When she was taken to the emergency room she was told she needed to see a gynecologist for specialized care, but this has not happened. The doctor at the ICE facility told her she is at risk of having a hysterectomy if she doesn’t receive appropriate care, and an independent medical expert who reviewed her records confirmed this grave concern that her continued detention could impact her future fertility. DHS has attempted to justify the separation on the basis of allegations that Mariana was a member of a resistance group in Angola known as FLEC, but her attorneys at the National Immigrant Justice Center have found that these allegations are completely false and unfounded. DHS has not produced any evidence of such ties, despite having had the opportunity to do so at Mariana’s immigration court hearing. Transfer to another facility is NOT an acceptable outcome – Mariana has been through too much, and she needs to be in the care of her family and with her children. Mariana and her children have a lawfully present sponsor, a green card holding cousin in Texas. There is no reason not to release Mariana immediately. We demand that ICE immediately release Mariana, reunite her with her children and stop the cruel trauma that is unnecessarily being inflicted on her family each and every passing day she continues to be detained.

  • Tell Congress: Stop Wall Street's Raids on our Economy
Our economy is in crisis. Wall Street billionaires have bought our politicians and engineered our laws to make it easier to buy and pillage major companies, line their own pockets, and escape consequences when the company fails. More than half a million people have already lost their jobs at retailers like Toys “R” Us, Payless, Sears, Kmart, RadioShack, Shopko, Sports Authority, and dozens more. These retailers were bought and controlled by private equity and hedge funds, shadowy financial firms that also “invest” in industries like for-profit private prisons and detention centers, dirty fossil fuels, and predatory payday loans. New federal legislation would bring much needed regulation to private equity firms and hedge funds that have done so much harm to working people and our communities. The bill would prevent these predators from destroying jobs for profit, protect our retirement funds from reckless fund managers, and provide compensation for working people when their stores close in bankruptcy. These financial institutions have become too big and too powerful. We need to check their power and hold them accountable for the damage they continue to do to our communities. Sign the petition to demand that Congress supports the bill. Let’s build a new economy – but this time, let’s build it for everyone.

  • @SpeakerPelosi: End the Saudi-Yemen war on NDAA
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has a historic opportunity to end the famine-causing Saudi war in Yemen. The House has passed the Adam Smith - Ro Khanna Yemen War Powers amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act that would end all U.S. participation in the war. The House and Senate have both passed the Sanders-Lee-Murphy Yemen War Powers Resolution. The House and Senate have both voted to cut off U.S. arms shipments to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates for the war. All Speaker Pelosi has to do now to end the war is insist that the House-Senate conference on the National Defense Authorization Act include provisions to end the war that both the House and the Senate have voted for. Urge House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to end the famine-causing Saudi war in Yemen by signing our petition.

  • Demand that your members of Congress speak out against Trump’s racism
Do your members of Congress agree with the President’s racism? It’s time for every single U.S. senator and representative to clearly let us know if they stand against hateful racism, sexism, and division! Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said that this latest, most blatant expression of the President’s racism reaffirms his goal to make “America white again.” The House passed a resolution condemning “President Donald Trump’s racist comments .” Such an official rebuke is timely and appropriate, but does not include the U.S. Senate, and also allows individual lawmakers to evade responsibility by getting lost in the crowd. That’s why we want every member of Congress to individually speak up now. Their constituents – us – need to know where they stand!

  • Expedia STOP discriminating against Seattle Hempfest!
Expedia bought the building at the north end of Centennial Park in Seattle a couple of years ago. Seattle Hempfest has been a beloved event in Seattle for 28 years now. Expedia is denying Hempfest access to the parking lot and roads at the North end of the park this year. Expedia makes thousands of dollars each year from our event. Our speakers, volunteers, and attendees come from all over the world to visit Seattle Hempfest and many of them book their flights, hotels, and rental cars through Expedia. Hempfest has used the public access roads 16th Avenue West and Amgen Parkway for over two decades. We load vendors and bands into the park in order to create a north-to-south flow of traffic so that cars and trucks do not have to turn around on the grass and cause destruction of the park. There are only a couple of places in the park where turning around a vehicle is even possible. We have great respect for being able to use Centennial and Myrtle Edwards parks for this event and we work very hard to minimize potential damage to our venue. Expedia has also asked the city to only allow load-in hours between 7:00 pm- 4:00 am. This makes our jobs impossibly difficult and causes undue stress for our vendors who must load their wares in and out of the park each day. As a volunteer, I am angered by the actions of Expedia to limit our access to the parks. Having to restructure our entire load-in and out processes through the South entrance has been difficult. We are a seasoned crew that has worked together for many years, and we have the routine down pat. Now we must change it because of Expedia. These changes mean that several key people in a couple of different departments will have to be at the South end when we need them in our respective departments. There is absolutely no reason that a company who makes so much money from our event should be causing harm to it. Please sign this petition and let the executives at Expedia know that this action is not acceptable, and they need to return access to the North end of the parks during the entire event process. I am a volunteer that is directly negatively impacted by Expedia denying Seattle Hempfest the use of public access roads.

  • Missouri: Universal Background Checks for Gun Purchases
Out of all the guns that are sold in private sales (in other words, every gun that is sold here in the USA by anyone other than a licensed gun dealer), 80% of them end up being used to commit crimes at some point. This statistic clearly shows us the reality of how necessary background checks truly are. To be frank, I'm not sure why anyone would be against a measure like this, given that the vast majority of background checks are completed within two minutes and the fact that Missouri law does not forbid many groups of individuals from having guns.
