Voters have made numerous attempts to contact the Governor and her campaign -- in-person, through dozens of calls to her office, and through the press. But she still refuses to agree to debate. We are signing this as a concerned citizens, asking the Governor to agree to three debates before the Democratic primary on September 12, for the good of the state and the electorate. My brother and I love Sonic slushes and have been visiting Sonics at least twice a week for several years. However, we have recently learned that the styrofoam cups the company uses aren't biodegradable and contain carcinogenic benzene, and the plastic straws used are polluting the world's oceans at an alarming rate. As a result, we will reluctantly forego our twice-weekly "fixes" of the company's delicious slushes until it starts serving them in paper cups like 7-Eleven, and converts to paper straws as McDonald's and Starbucks are doing. We urge others who care about human health and the environment to consider a boycott as well, and to sign this petition.

On August 13th the Albany County Legislature will vote on Local Law L/Resolution #228, which will ban all Albany County food service establishments and restaurants from using foam take out containers, foam trays, foam cups and other polystyrene products. Help defeat the ban that will force all food service establishments to purchase alternatives at 2 - 4 times the cost, negatively impacting businesses and consumers. We urge all Albany County Legislators to vote against this proposal on Monday, August 13th at 6:30 p.m. at the Albany Legislative Chambers, located at the Albany County Court House, 16 Eagle St, 2nd FL. Last year in Yemen, more than 60 children between the ages of 8 and 14 were hit by an airstrike led by the Saudi coalition with American bombs. [1] The students were on a field trip. Twenty-nine people—mostly children—were killed. [2] This type of callous disregard for human lives has been at the forefront of the Saudi-led, U.S.-supported war in Yemen. All while the Department of Defense and the Trump administration take Congress's silence as tacit approval to continue participating in a conflict that was never authorized by the House or Senate. [3] Not only has the fighting caused civilian casualties, these attacks are responsible for one of the worst humanitarian crises right now, according to the U.N. Millions of people in Yemen are on the brink of starvation because of ongoing attacks by Saudi Arabia and its allies. Our tax dollars and U.S. bombs are contributing to this unnecessary ongoing conflict. This can't continue to happen on our watch. Most recently, the Senate passed the Yemen War Powers resolution to bring this conflict to an end. It's time for the House to do the same. Tell them what you know: The U.S. is supporting a coalition that is bombing children in Yemen, and that support must end now. Raul is a husband and father of four children who has been mercilessly detained by ICE for over a year. He was separated from his family when he was detained in March 2017, and has recently been transferred far away from his family to an ICE facility in Colorado, despite the fact that he continues to fight his case in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, located in San Francisco, California. Raul needs your help. Raul has lived in the United States for over 28 years since leaving his home country of Guatemala. On March 22nd, 2017, he was taken from his family and placed in detention at the West County Detention Facility in Contra Costa. Shortly after the termination of ICE’s contract with a local detention center, ICE transferred Raul and many others to Colorado. He was transferred without his family or lawyer receiving advance notice and despite the fact that his case is ongoing in San Francisco, California. There is no reason for Raul to be detained. His family is suffering financially and emotionally while ICE has incarcerated him for over a year. He has missed holidays, birthdays, and other milestones with his family. Because he was prevented from attending his daughter’s quinceañera, she brought the celebration as close to him as possible and danced in her quinceañera gown outside of the West County Detention Facility as a part of a vigil held there. Donald Trump, the bigot-in-chief, is running the country, and profiting off of it at the same time. It's time to do something about it. Take the pledge not to support Trump's bigotry and corruption by boycotting Trump's hotels, golf courses, and any other properties.

Every day, the news on Climate is worse. Extreme fires are burning in West threatening friends and family. Hurricane floods threaten my old home in Florida. Enough is enough. Bold action is so clearly needed, but Congressional Leaders seem distracted by Republican craziness and unwilling to act. If Democrats do win back Congress, we need to Stop Trump - but that's not enough. Democrats need to show real, positive leadership on Climate now.
