Stop the Killings at the Miami -Dade Animal ShelterDogs and cats are being killed unnecessarily, even a few hours after they are turned in. Veterinarian students are conducting experiments causing animals to die. This is unacceptable; voters in the County increased their taxes so the shelter could become a no-kill shelter. However, the Mayor decided to use the money for something else, disregarding the will of the citizens. Help stop the nonsense killings. Remember, we have the voting power.398 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Frank Vaio

Demand Instagram Change Its Rules Against Animal CrueltyToo many posts depicting animal violence have been uploaded by animal abusers with no retribution. When a report is made, Instagram, time and time again, has said the post is within its regulations. It is inexplicable why images of abused and murdered animals are deemed appropriate when nudity and selfies of people with exotic animals are not.51 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Ann

Help Save Honeoye LakeHarmful Algal Blooms (HABS) are nothing new to the many people who enjoy spending time on NYS Lakes. However, of the Finger Lakes, Honeoye Lake has the most severe and longest lasting outbreaks of HABS. In just the last five summers, Honeoye Lake has had 84 CONFIRMED HABS, 14 of those having HIGH TOXINS. That number does not represent all of the blooms that were deemed as suspicious and not tested. We believe the Mechanical Weed Harvester(MWH) is a major cause in the abundance and spread of HABS. Reasons we believe this are: 1) The MWH stirs up sediment and causes wave action resulting in legacy nutrients being dispersed into the water column-especially by the paddle wheels. 2) Due to the Harvester moving so slowly, the heat from the motor raises the surface temperature of the water creating favorable conditions for a bloom to occur. 3) When the weeds are cut, where there was once shade there is now direct sunlight to aid in the growth of algae. 4) The algae that are stuck on the large amount of fragmented weeds left behind by the Harvester are now able to float, spread across the lake and get washed up on shore. This does not even mention the reasons we believe the Harvester also contributes to the toxicity of the blooms. We believe the Harvester is the one cause/variable that we can absolutely control. Please help save Honeoye Lake and stop Mechanical Weed Harvesting!! Thank you.463 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Julie Swift

Stop complaining and start signing!Seen lawn signs advising of veterans with PTSD? Watched your dog or cat try to hide in a closet or under a bed? Read the statistics about the related injuries to hands/fingers/ears/eyes? Called police about someone blowing up a mortar after midnight? Smelled the 'napalm' in the air? Heard about a fire caused by an inconsiderate 'patriot?' Is there really a need to buy and sell these products every day of the year - except to make money? Sign and let's let our lawmakers know they made a mistake in legalizing fireworks and firecrackers in Michigan. There are alternatives!34 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Phyllis Horowitz

Grandparents Rights AmendmentMy son, Arnold Irizarry, passed away 5 years ago, suddenly leaving his only daughter. After my Son passed away, I was not allowed to see my granddaughter because the mother got into a relationship and wouldn't allow me near my Granddaughter. I went to the court asking for " Visitation Rights", but the law establishes the Grandparent should have a parent-like relationship with the grandchild or be concerned about his/her safety. How can I have a parent-like relationship with my Granddaughter if I'm not allowed to see her? How can I know if she's been abused if I'm not allowed to come near her and the law doesn't protect my rights as a Grandmother? Grandparents are needed in children's lives; we provide support, safety, caring, love to this child. I need our voices to be heard and our rights to be respected and honored. We are blood-related to this child and it is not fair that we are kept away. In my case, my granddaughter recognizes me, remembers me, and suffers and cries every time she sees me and me I feel so depressed and I cry in silence every day for this girl because I adore her and she is the only thing I have left from my son. Please help me; please advocate for me and my rights.195 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Sandra Izquierdo

Barnes & Noble in NYC Should Not Provide a Platform to Sean SpicerNew Yorkers should be outraged by Spicer's attempts to profit off his time as Press Secretary for the Trump administration. Donald Trump won't secure our elections -- it's up to usIt seems like Donald Trump will do anything to avoid addressing the threat of Russian election interference head on. Our election infrastructure remains extremely vulnerable. Outdated and insecure voting systems must be replaced. Voters must be able to mark paper ballots which they can verify -- and which can serve as a back up. Election results must be audited manually to establish high confidence that the outcome is correct. Our democracy depends on it. Americans expect their leaders to put their country before their party when facing an ongoing threat from a hostile foreign state. Tell election officials in your state and county to secure our elections and protect our democracy.48 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Common Cause
