• Stop Segregated Busing
Please help us stop segregated busing of students in Lakewood. The Lakewood Board of Education funding is funding busing of 40,000 students on buses and to schools that are segregated by both sex and religion which is strictly forbidden by the State of New Jersey Constitution. The public schools are failing because they receive less money than what is paid for the segregated busing to segregated schools..

  • Legalize Hemp
Hemp grows quicker and uses less water when compared to similar crops, meaning that shifting to hemp could be a net boon for the environment. It is an especially good alternative to cotton, which is one of the dirtiest crops when it comes to pesticide use and greenhouse gas emissions. Hemp can be used to make rope, clothes, and many other fabrics and materials -- but the crop has been unfairly tied to strict marijuana policy for decades, despite negligible amounts of the psychoactive compound THC. Legalizing hemp could help the environment, farm income, and consumer choice! It's about time: tell your members of Congress to pass the Hemp Farming Act.

  • KEEPING FAMILIES TOGETHER ACT
Tearing children away from their families does not deter immigration or migration, it only creates trauma in multiple generations of human families. Stop this horrific practice immediately. • Demand Disney stop funding NRA-backed gun extremists
Adam Putnam, Florida Agriculture Commissioner and candidate for governor, proclaims himself a “proud NRA sellout.” And yet Disney and its affiliates has given over $840,000 to Putnam’s political action committee. It’s been two years since 49 people were killed at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida. As a queer student of color living in Florida, I know firsthand that my community is still reeling from these horrific losses of life. Under Putnam’s watch as Agriculture Commissioner, Florida’s Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services failed to perform background checks -- for a year -- on applicants for concealed weapons permits because the staffer responsible for running these couldn’t figure out how to log in to the FBI’s background check system. Putnam is clearly a danger to Florida. Disney, you market to the LGBTQ community so heavily in Florida and beyond, especially during Pride month, and yet June will always be marked to us as the month in which so many beloved people lost their lives to gun violence. Your support of NRA extremist Adam Putnam is a slap in our collective faces. You must pay attention to your customer base, not just line your pockets from us. People of color especially make up large portions of many audiences from which you profit, including the LGBTQ community. Disney, for you to donate profits that you make off of the parents of young kids, and the parents of children killed by gun violence; your continued support of Putnam is insulting and disgraceful. This is especially true for Black families and communities, who are already so disproportionately affected by gun violence. And we have had enough. Disney, we are holding you accountable. Stop funding Adam Putnam’s bid for governor of Florida.

  • Apology to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Canada
While we can’t address all of the nonsense from Donald Trump and all of the harm to relationships with allies around the world, let’s stand up to disavow the inappropriately negative and personal comments that President Trump addressed to Prime Minister Trudeau. Canada has been a strong ally of ours and a very good neighbor — President Trump’s treatment of Prime Minister Trudeau and Canada is a poor reward.

  • No Drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge!
Thanks to Trump's tax scam, oil and gas industry allies in Congress were able to open the door to drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). Now, the Department of the Interior is collecting public comments as part of its environmental review process until June 19. Oil and gas drilling would be extremely destructive to ANWR's water, wildlife, and other sensitive resources that the Native Gwich’in people of the Arctic depend on. Submit a comment to tell U.S. Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke to reject ANY AND ALL oil and gas drilling on the Coastal Plain of ANWR.

  • Revoke sales tax on feminine sanitary supplies
Pads, tampons, and cups are necessary for women's health, if there are no taxes on food because it is a need, why should there be taxes on supplies which are pertinent for the health of women? Women are discriminated against because of their menstrual cycle, which is natural and uncontrollable. The amount of money that is added by sales taxes can make an essential product for women not affordable to those who struggle financially.

  • Trump does not speak for us
We are horrified and embarrassed by the attacks on our good friend, Canada, and its Prime Minister, apparently in an attempt to look stronger going into the negotiations with North Korea. Instead of stronger, he has succeeded in making himself look irrational.

  • Tell Kirstjen Nielsen and Rebecca Adducci to stop separating families!
Earlier this month, two hundred federal immigration enforcement agents descended upon Corso’s Flower and Garden Centers in Sandusky and Castalia, Ohio, with machine guns and K-9 dogs as helicopters circled overhead. They were there to arrest and deport Ohioans who work hard and love their families, accusing them of immigration violations. All told, 114 Corso’s workers were arrested by ICE during the aggressive, SWAT-style operation. Just a week later, they struck AGAIN, this time at a meatpacking plant in Massillon, Ohio, where another 100 agents arrested more than 100 workers. Kirstjen Nielsen is the head of the Department of Homeland Security, and is responsible for running Donald Trump’s turbo-charged deportation machine. Rebecca Adducci is the Field Office Director for Detroit ICE, with control over operations in Michigan and Ohio. Not only is she responsible for utilizing an outrageous show of government force in order to arrest and deport humble workers, but she has presided over the systematic separation of Ohio and Michigan families ever since the Trump Administration took office. Raids like the one in Sandusky, Castalia, and Massillon are destroying Ohio and Michigan families, and those of us who disagree with what’s happening need to stand up and say it! Sign this petition to tell DHS Chief Kirstjen Nielsen and ICE Field Director Rebecca Adducci to rein in their excessive use of force and deportation practices that destroy families.
