The Trump Administration is launching an extraordinary attempt to hijack the 2020 census for political purposes. Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross recently announced that he will add a question asking citizenship status to the 2020 U.S. census. Experts — from former census directors representing both Republican and Democratic administrations, 60 members of Congress, 161 Republican and Democratic mayors, 19 state attorneys general, more than 170 civil rights organizations, and prominent business leaders —agree this is a terrible idea. The inclusion of a citizenship question is likely to scare people of color and undocumented immigrants away from responding. This would result in a severe undercount of newer Americans — even Americans who have lived in the U.S. for decades, whose children and spouses are American citizens — and lead to unfair redistricting that would unduly benefit Republicans making the changes. This hijacking of the 2020 census must stop. Secretary Ross should uphold the government’s constitutional duty to count ALL people in EVERY part of the country — without adding unnecessary and overtly political questions that will scare people away.

The Delaware River Basin provides clean drinking water for millions of people in Philadelphia, New York, New Jersey and Delaware. 

 Last December the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) put forth new rules for a half-measure fracking ban that leaves the door open for fracking waste to enter the watershed, and allows drilling companies to take water for their own uses. 

 The DRBC's draft fracking ban regulations are unacceptable, and definitely not up to our standards for a fracking ban. 

 Earlier this year when the DRBC held a series of public hearings, Food & Water Watch and allies held rallies calling on the four governors in the Basin states (Cuomo, Carney, Wolf and Murphy) to support the strongest possible ban on fracking — and not settle for anything less! 

 Now, we need to keep this momentum going and show the Governors that we will fight until the end to protect our most precious water sources, and we need them to do the same.

18 years ago I gave my daughter up for adoption. Previously, I had talked the entire time with the adopting family. I actually knew the wife and her mother and father previously as a child in their church. Within a year-and-a-half of the adoption, all the promises made were taken away. I wasn't sent pictures, I wasn't called, I didn't get updates, I didn't get videos, I got treated like I did something wrong and was cut out. I want to start this petition so that no other person has to go through what I did. Adoption is a beautiful thing. What's not beautiful is telling lies to a birth mother and then reneging on everything because, as the attorney informed me laughing, there's no such thing and any papers aren't legally binding! Whatever we may think about our current President, our Electoral College clearly failed to perform the function Madison and Hamilton had envisioned for it. Rather than override the will of the people when they chose a demagogue unqualified for high office, the Electoral College did precisely the opposite. It is time to admit that the Electoral College must enter the post-Civil War era.

We have watched Trump cabinet members steal taxpayer funds to finance exorbitant travel, furnishings, doors, and a sound booth for Mr. Pruitt. We must require that we receive proof that these cabinet members (Tom Price, Shulkin, Stephen Mnuchin, Ryan Zinke, Scott Prutt, Ben Carson and any others) have reimbursed the treasury fully for this rampant misuse of taxpayer dollars. Mr. Trump will not ever require this but someone in the White House or some other agency should be sending a collections agency after them for their kleptocracy.

Hard working families and individuals are suffering because of taxation and excessive rent practices. The people's rent shouldn’t be calculated on the gross income, but by the net. Income tax refunds aren't guaranteed to a lot of poor families and minorities. What happens to the families and individuals who don’t get tax refunds because they owe student loans, but yet their rent is still calculated by the gross? The people are fed up; the government and states bail everybody out in these huge corporations, but not The People. It’s time we start listening to The People. Do you know how many working families and single parents this would help as much as the economy if this were to happen? We were not meant to just work and pay bills, but this is what calculating on the gross does. Let’s change this; let’s make this happen and bail The People out. Rent calculated by net, not gross.

Donald Trump is marching us toward war—or multiple wars—if his latest nominees and appointees are and indication. Mike Pompeo, Trump's pick to run the State Department, opposes diplomatic agreements including the successful Iran Nuclear Deal, supports torture, and received the top award from a known anti-muslim hate group. We cannot trust his judgement to run the U.S. State Department, whose main mission is diplomacy, not war. Gina Haspel has defended the CIA use of torture. We cannot trust her to run the CIA and protect human and civil liberties. John Bolton has a history of bad decisions that have contributed to massive loss of life. He was a booster for the Iraq War. More recently, he penned an op-ed on the case for war with North Korea. He just can't be trusted at all - yet Trump appointed him to National Security Advisor. Trump pushed out his secretary of state and national security adviser who had helped restrain Trump's desire for war. His new appointees would be far worse—putting us all at risk. As a first step to protecting the balance of power, blocking a reckless war cabinet, and preventing unnecessary and costly wars: The Senate and must reject Pompeo's nomination as Secretary of State.
