When tragedy such as a terminal illness befalls citizens of other developed countries, they don’t have to worry about their financial situation, as adequate healthcare, social safeguards and laws protect them. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case if you’re an American. In the US, terminal patients and their families are often immediately faced with heart-wrenching, financial hardships such as loss of income, mounting medical bills, foreclosure and as a result, often hastened death. To add insult to injury, the government taxes some disability payments as regular income and the latest tax reform eliminates all medical deductions, as well as deductions for local and state taxes. As a result, my taxes and those of other terminally ill citizens will increase. This is unconscionable when the corporate and billionaire classes, who are in no way in need of tax relief, are receiving tax windfalls. As a single homeowner, public school teacher and resident of California, I was diagnosed with ALS in 2015. I can no longer walk, eat, talk or breathe on my own. I now need constant in-home care, which costs thousands of dollars a month and somehow, I’m expected to pay for it myself. My disability income is half of my previous salary and doesn’t begin to cover all of my expenses and obligations. I’m forced to spend down money earmarked for retirement to supplement my end of life. Every time I do, it’s a taxable event. In essence, I’m being taxed for having a terminal illness. As a single (and very vulnerable) person, my tax bracket for the 2016 tax year was 28 percent, while the wealthy pay only 15 percent on capital gains, shelter their money in offshore accounts and use loopholes such as pass-through business entities. While they avoid their tax obligations, the government snatches much-needed funds right out of my hands by placing a lien on my bank account. It’s only a matter of time before I lose my house and am sent to an acute care facility due to insufficient funds. I will be financially drained and tossed aside. Is this the kind of society we want? This is criminal and must stop. If you are terminally ill, completely disabled, or are simply a decent human being, please consider signing this petition and sharing it with family and friends. Help us end punitive and harmful taxing of our most vulnerable citizens.

I have been personally affected by this issue because I am a disabled woman who relies on my local paratransit service SunDial for my job, medical appointments, and social activities. Due to low ridership and limited funding, Sunline Transit Agency, the company that operates SunDial, has had to do away with and reroute lines to emulate the regular Sunline lines for fixed routes. This greatly affects the local disabled population in the Coachella Valley. There is a 90-day grace period from January 7th, 2018 to April 7th, 2018 for my local disabled community to find alternative modes of transportation when SunDial is not in operation, A rainy day fund would prevent this from happening in the future. Donald Trump's White House is attempting to undermine the accuracy of the 2020 Census, limit representation for communities of color, and politicize it for its own partisan gain. The Trump administration just announced that they will add a question about citizenship, which will skew the results of the 2020 Census, and intimidate any American -- citizen or not -- out of speaking up to be counted. They've already dramatically underfunded this crucial survey, and are now trying to put a professor working to defend North Carolina's racial gerrymandering in charge of it. Now, they're stepping up their efforts. We must speak out NOW to stop them from rigging the Census. The Census is supposed to count everyone who lives in the United States regardless of citizenship status -- and this unnecessary question could discourage people from completing the survey and skew the final count. And if that happens, it'd turbo-charge gerrymandering and make our district lines even more unfair than they already are. The 2020 Census will shape our nation's democracy, public policy and economy for a decade -- and getting it right is absolutely crucial. We already know that people of color, particularly Black and Latino communities in both urban and rural areas, are at an especially high risk of being undercounted by the Census. This change would only exacerbate that worrying trend. That's why we must speak out NOW to demand that Congress prevent this deliberate attempt to rig the Census to undercount communities of color. Tell your members of Congress to oppose any legislation and/or moves by the Census Bureau to add a question on citizenship or immigration status.

Fusion GPS is the firm that hired Christopher Steele to compile the collection of intelligence reports that has come to be known as the "Steele Dossier." These reports, many of which have been subsequently and independently confirmed, detail the Kremlin's efforts to get Donald Trump elected in the 2016 presidential election. Fusion GPS has given a total of over 21 hours of testimony to three different Congressional committees about the details of Christopher Steele's investigation and the firm publicly called for publication of the transcripts of that testimony in the following New York Times op-ed published this week. The American people have a right to know how our election was influenced in order to prevent it from happening again in elections to come. When asked in the past if he would vote in favor of publicly releasing the transcripts of Fusion GPS' testimony Chuck Grassley, the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, had indicated that he would vote in favor of release once the process of reviewing the transcripts for redaction was complete. Recent reporting indicates that process is complete so there is no reason those transcripts and any others from Fusion GPS should not be made available to the public. Americans have the right to know the truth!

After seeing this horrendous video get six million views online and having people accept his apology for putting a person's hanging body online as well, it was a disrespectful thing to do. There have been a lot of mishaps with him and his brother, Jake Paul, but this is a new low and it needs to end.

He severely disrespected an entire country, disrespected the dead and has failed to be punished for said crime.
