• Tell Trump You Do Not Support His Anti-ESPN Rants!
Trump has started a petition against ESPN for deciding not to air the National Anthem during its football telecasts. We need a counter-petition to show him that his rants against respectful protests highlighting the existence of police brutality are not supported by mainstream America.

  • President Donald Trump
President Donald Trump continues to blatantly disrespect members of the African-American community. His administration is eager to capitalize on photo opportunities, such as hosting a recent visit by African-American ministers or falsely claiming the creation of 3 times more jobs for African-Americans than President Obama. However, his non-diversified administration refuses to allocate adequate resources to address a myriad of problems plaguing the African-American community. Instead, his administration doggedly works to reverse the gains made during the Civil Rights Movement and following the death of Dr. Martin Luther Jr. on April 4, 1968. Instead, President Trump continues to spew unbridled hatred towards some of our country's most prominent African-American citizens, including Congressman John Lewis, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, NFL Player Colin Kaepernick, NBA Player Lebron James, and CNN Journalist Don Lemon. Most recently he described ex-White House Aid Omarosa Manigault as a "dog". These actions denigrate the office of President of the United States and create a permeating cloud of disrespect towards the African-American community.

  • JUSTICE FOR THE GRIGSBYS
The Grigsbys are trying to get the news of their federal lawsuit out to the community. They believe it is important to inform others who might also have been discriminated against by BFCU. The Dept. Of Housing and Urban Development is investigating the charges. The Shreveport Sun newspaper published two concise, accurate and unbiased articles about the lawsuit. The Inquisitor also published an article about the lawsuit. We believe the TV stations and major newspaper should also do so.

  • Grandparents Rights Amendment
My son, Arnold Irizarry, passed away 5 years ago, suddenly leaving his only daughter. After my Son passed away, I was not allowed to see my granddaughter because the mother got into a relationship and wouldn't allow me near my Granddaughter. I went to the court asking for " Visitation Rights", but the law establishes the Grandparent should have a parent-like relationship with the grandchild or be concerned about his/her safety. How can I have a parent-like relationship with my Granddaughter if I'm not allowed to see her? How can I know if she's been abused if I'm not allowed to come near her and the law doesn't protect my rights as a Grandmother? Grandparents are needed in children's lives; we provide support, safety, caring, love to this child. I need our voices to be heard and our rights to be respected and honored. We are blood-related to this child and it is not fair that we are kept away. In my case, my granddaughter recognizes me, remembers me, and suffers and cries every time she sees me and me I feel so depressed and I cry in silence every day for this girl because I adore her and she is the only thing I have left from my son. Please help me; please advocate for me and my rights.

  • Rahm Emanuel: attend Wed, July 25, candidate forum
Candidate forums are an important part of making democracy work. Mayor of Chicago is an important elected office. In 2015, candidate forums managed by corporate media outlets, like Chicago Tonight, were biased in favor of Rahm Emanuel. Mayor Emanuel should justify his past record to the people & explain his vision for the future.

  • PA Proclamation Addressing Stigma & Violence Against Sex Workers
EPGN article by Tim Cwiek: Pennsylvania resident Melanie Dante wants state lawmakers to enact an anti-violence resolution on behalf of sex workers. Dante, now 48, is an advocate for LGBT rights and the rights of sex workers. She said several local trans women who were murdered recently were perceived to be sex workers. “I care very deeply about that,” she told PGN. In an effort to lessen the violence, she’s pushing for state lawmakers to pass an anti-violence resolution regarding sex workers in Pennsylvania. “Each individual’s human rights are sacred, including the human rights of those of us who have lived the sex trade,” Dante told PGN. She said the term “sex work” encompasses various forms of erotic activity. “Sex work is a broad category that includes prostitution, escorting, sugar babes, strippers, lap dancers, cam girls, dominants and submissives, massage therapists, tantric practitioners and porn models,” Dante explained. As an advocate for sex workers, she’s aware of far too many acts of violence against members of that community. And she speaks from personal experience. Dante wants state lawmakers to pass a resolution declaring Dec. 17 as International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers in Pennsylvania. For the past 14 years, people around the world have observed Dec. 17 as a day to honor the lives of sex workers lost to murder and suicide. “My goal is to be sure no sex worker or person exploring their sexual and gender identity is forgotten, after falling victim to a violent crime leading to their death,” Dante said. Since 2012, Dec. 17 memorial events have been held in Philadelphia, and Dante hopes the local event will grow and become more unified. Dante said she realizes a resolution won’t end all of the problems faced by sex workers in Pennsylvania, but that it’s an important first step. Brian Sims’ office issued this statement: “Violence in any form inflicted upon any person is reprehensible.” Dante represents the voice the PA Workers Survivors Clearinghouse, SWOP Behind Bars / SWOP USA in PA, and ESPU_Philly, saying of the conservative political environment she is reaching out to: “We all want the same outcome, which is to end the violence.”
