Rep. Denham: Support Voting RightsIf we diminish the rights of any one person to vote we diminish the fabric of our constitution. Many people put their lives on the line to give everyone the right to vote and that right should continue to be protected. Rep. Denham should support this effort by consponsoring and fighting for the right of all people in this country to be able to exercise this right.10 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Mary Catherine Martinez

Stop Voter SuppressionLast year, the Supreme Court gutted the landmark Voting Rights Act of 1965. Since then, Republicans across the country have raced to implement new restrictive laws that would do exactly what the Voting Rights Act was meant to protect. Late last week, Representatives Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI) and John Conyers (D-MI) and Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) introduced new legislation—the Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2014—that would strengthen the Voting Rights Act. This bill isn't perfect but is the best vehicle we have for restoring the rights struck down by the Supreme Court last year.32 of 100 SignaturesCreated by David Stump

Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2014The voting Rights Act is one or the most important pieces of civil rights legislation Congress has ever passed. Last years Supreme Court decision weakened critical provisions of it. It did tell Congress that it needed to update the Act in order to address how times have changed in the last fifty years, this bill makes an important step toward doing that.773 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Steven Shuler

Voting IS a right! The right to vote is the foundation of American democracy. The states impacted by the VRA started to take it away from American citizens the very moment the Supreme Court lifted them. As we continue to see voters' rights being restricted all across America, this much AT LEAST must stop!735 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Kimyotta Hankins

Voting Rights are FundamentalI'm very concerned that our voting rights are being systematically stripped away. We live in a democracy and our vote is our voice. The Voting Rights Act is one of the most important pieces of civil rights legislation Congress has ever enacted. Last year's Supreme Court decision weakened critical provisions of it. Right now, Congress can restore those protections by passing this important bill.1,342 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Michelle Deziel

Court Overturns PA's Voter ID Law. Tell Gov. Corbett Not to AppealThe great news is that Commonwealth Court Judge Bernard McGinley said the Pennsylvania Voter ID bill is unconstitutional. He ruled that the law is "invalid and unconstitutional on its face as the provision and issuance of compliant identification does not comport with liberal access and unreasonably burdens the right to vote. “Voting laws are designed to assure a free and fair election; the Voter ID Law does not further this goal.” Now the bad news. It is still possible for the law to be appealed. PA Gov. Tom Corbett is considering an appeal to PA's Supreme Court. If he does appeal, the Voter ID law may be reinstated. Tell Governor Corbett that we agree with Judge McGinley. Voter ID is “invalid and unconstitutional on its face.” Do not appeal Voter ID to the Supreme Court.2,699 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Michael Morrill

Restore Voting RightsLast year's Supreme Court decision weakened critical provisions of the Voting Rights Act (VRA), and the NC legislature was quick to pass a bill that makes voting virtually impossible for many North Carolinians. But a new bill in Congress can fix the VRA, and restore these protections not only in NC but also across the country.5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Abbi Hattem
