• Rep. McDermott: Restore the Voting Rights Act!!
The Voting Rights Act is one of the most important pieces of civil rights legislation Congress has ever passed. Last year's Supreme Court decision weakened critical provisions of it. Right now, Congress can restore those protections by passing this important bill. Rep. McDermott has been a strong supporter of civil rights in other situations, but so far has not thrown his full weight behind this attempt to restore at least parts of the Voting Rights Act. With his help, the bill could be improved and expanded. Will Rep. McDermott support this effort by cosponsoring and fighting for a strong bill?

  • Congresswoman Louise Slaughter:
The Supreme Court and Republicans across the nation are on fast rack to voter suppression as they are totally against voting rights for non-republicans. Their population numbers are decreasing and their views are anti-anyone who does not agree with them. So they make every attempt to stripe voting rights of others. They must be stopped. Today their efforts at voter suppression is 2014 poll tax and turning people (Blacks) away from voting. They are so un-American.

  • Representative J. Castro: Support Voting Rights
The Voting Rights Act of 2014 must be used to correct the deficiencies created purposefully last year by the Supreme Court-Congress can support civil rights by restoring previously altered portions of the Voting Rights Act last year. Representative J. Castro should support this effort by cosponsoring and supporting a stronger bill that will restore and eternally protect our right to vote!

  • Voting Rights, not Voting Privileges
Because blatant efforts to disenfranchise entire groups of citizens is an outrage and offensive. As the petition title states, voting is a RIGHT, not a privilege.
