John Kiriakou has been denied a release to serve the last 9 months of his sentence in a halfway house. He still hopes to be released to a halfway house before the end of 2014. John stepped forward to provide information on an illegal CIA torture program knowing that he might put his freedom at risk by doing this. Faced with charges that could have resulted in a very long prison sentence he accepted a deal that resulted in a 30 month sentence. He has set a good example for all of us by risking his own freedom to reveal extremely serious violations of human rights. I believe that John very much deservers our support for his request to be released to a halfway house.

Citizens United is a travesty and corporate influence runs our legislative bodies through organizations such as ALEC. I think that overturning Citizens United and reforming campaign finance laws would improve political responsiveness to the people's needs. Same-sex marriage and yes it affects me I would one day like to get married.

Not all religions are accepted or tolerated in Lisle Senior High School. The religious headgear of the Pastafarian religion has been deemed disruptive and not appropriate in the school. The fact that a student is forbidden to go to his/her classes with the official headgear of the Pastafarian faith is intolerable and ignorant. This intolerance needs to be removed from the school and the religious must be allowed to be worn during the school day.

Marriage equality should be granted to all loving couples. Denying marriage equality to these couples will have immediate effects how they file their taxes, how they obtain healthcare and the future of their families.

Byars’ cleaners and Mabel Little’s beauty salon. Gone were literal lifetimes of sweat and hard work, and hard-won rungs on the ladder of the American Dream. Gone, too, were hundreds of homes, and more than a half-dozen African American churches, all torched by the white invaders. Nearly ten-thousand Tulsans, practically the entire black community, was now homeless." As justice was never delivered, H.R. 98 is a bill to reopen the case for redress. Redress to families affected by the Tulsa Race Riot is widely supported by civil rights scholars and academics who study the topic of reparations.
