• Stop Human Trafficking: It's Slavery.
Many Americans believe slavery ended over a century ago. Although it is no longer legal, or socially accepted, it never ended. Slavery no longer manifests in a traditional sense. It does not look the way it did during the 300 year Transatlantic Slave Trade. Today Slavery takes the form of the business of human trafficking. It is modern day slavery. There are more than 27 million individuals who are victims of human trafficking. It is the fastest growing criminal industry in the world. The business of Human Trafficking generates approximately 32 billion dollars a year in profits, second only to that of the international drug trade. Experts estimate that in America alone, there are over 100,000 children who are sexually exploited every year. Yet, law enforcement locates less than 2% of these children every year. If they are found, these children are often charged with crimes and treated as criminals. Perpetrators of this heinous crime prey on children with low self-esteem, which places many children at risk, and makes them vulnerable to becoming victims of sex and labor trafficking. The perpetrators of Human Trafficking abuse children physically, psychologically and emotionally through manipulation and force. We need to change our social perceptions, and see these children as helpless victims. Changing legislation will help change these perceptions, and provide the necessary support, and safe harbor that American children deserve. Sign this petition to support Senate Bill 75 so we can better identify the victims, and prevent, prosecute and protect our children from this organized abuse.

  • Stop Voter Suppression against Senior Citizens Petition
Can you imagine when it's time to retire or get sick and you can't vote for Medicare or Social Security expansion or reform? There are people who have fought for our country, fought in our country and died for the security of our nation and the right to vote and are at the age where they are on Medicare and Social Security, but are not going to be able to vote because they don't have the proper ID. How can that be? I'm begging you to stop the suppression Governor Corbett.

  • Washington Redskins: It's Time to Change the Name
The name "Washington Redskins" is racially derogatory and has no place in today's culture. For decades, Native Americans have asked the team to choose a different name, and in recent years the movement has gained momentum as major media outlets like the San Francisco Chronicle and Slate Magazine have decided to stop using the term, as has award-winning Sports Illustrated NFL writer Peter King. This week, the Major League Baseball team, Cleveland Indians, announced that they will remove their own racially derogatory logo from it's uniform. The professional football team in Washington must recognize: it's time to change the name.

  • Don't put pastors on trial for performing gay weddings
In America's largest mainline protestant denomination, the United Methodist Church, pastors can be put on trial -- and even lose their ordination -- simply for marrying a gay or lesbian couple. But more than 30 Methodist pastors in Pennsylvania have just announced they'll do exactly that, courageously risking their careers by co-officiating at a gay wedding next month. Their fate will ultimately be in the hands of their local bishop, Peggy Johnson, who recently wrote that she favors marriage equality. Now she has an opportunity to send a powerful message by disregarding the church's immoral and discriminatory rules and refusing to pursue formal charges against these pastors.

  • Freedom to Fly the American Flag
My name is Sarah Harvey and I live in the Wyatt at Presidio Junction. Three weeks ago I decided to display the American flag on behalf of my country and my husband who serves in the United States Marine Corps. After serving 3 tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and 13 years years and counting it is the least I can do to show my love and support for all our brave soldiers. On October 28, 2013 I received a notice not only demanding the flag be taken down, but also fining me for having it up. I went to management and argued my case to no avail. I received the owner's email and have since emailed them with no response yet. So I am coming to you all for help. I followed the lease provisions involving not damaging the building or any structure on the property by zip tying the flag onto my railing. There is a clause regarding what should and shouldn't be on our patios. As it states on the lease clause only outdoor furniture is allowed. My stance is the American flag is an outdoor product and if, as management has stated to me, things like; plants, BBQ pits, bikes, and other typical outdoor products are allowed on the patio even though they are not considered outdoor furniture than the American flag should be allowed as well. The management team explained the reasons behind the denial of my American flag in terms that it could end up leading to someone claiming discrimination if someone else tried to fly another flag and they also tried to reference the "only patio furniture" statement but then agreed that they verbally agree to other items. I am coming to you, fellow residents, to get you all's approval and support so I can continue to fly my American flag in support and honor of our country and our soldiers. Please help me fight this injustice. I am asking nothing more than a signature to show management and the owners that no one is offended or against my family flying the American Flag. I also would like to point out that we all have a federal legal right, regardless what the company considers outdoor furniture. As per the Freedom to Fly the American Act of 2005 which was officially put into law July 24, 2006 section 3: SEC. 3. RIGHT TO DISPLAY THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES. A condominium association, cooperative association, or residential real estate management association may not adopt or enforce any policy, or enter into any agreement, that would restrict or prevent a member of the association from displaying the flag of the United States on residential property within the association with respect to which such member has a separate ownership interest or a right to exclusive possession or use. So I feel I am justified and supported in my right to fly the American flag, however I think everyone should have a right within our complex to fly the American flag without being hassled by the management team. I am not trying to cause any undue stress to anyone. So please help me keep my American flag up and allow others to have to ability to fly their American flags as well. Thanks for your support and have a wonderful day. Sarah Harvey

  • Regulate the treatment of transgender prisoners
It is hard to know how many transgender inmates are in U.S. prisons, but difficulties and hardships of them is common and needed to be paid attention. The Eighth Amendment proscribes the infliction of cruel or unusual punishment, being limited to take hormones therapy is one of the cruelest punishment for transgender prisoners, who have right to live healthy.

  • Wait, The NSA Thinks Its Rights Have Been Violated?
If you’re going to secretly spy on millions of American citizens, you should probably learn to live with some criticism once your operation is exposed. But the National Security Agency — despite conducting a massive, unprecedented, and possibly unconstitutional domestic espionage operation where it monitors the phone calls and emails of most of the American people — is bent out of shape over a T-shirt. You read that right. The NSA has forced an entrepreneur in Minnesota to stop selling T-shirts, mugs, bumper stickers and other products featuring a design that adds the parody slogan “Spying On You Since 1952” to the agency’s official seal. Apparently, the NSA — which may well be snooping on you right now — thinks a parody T-shirt will be the thing that damages its reputation. The First Amendment clearly allows for this kind of “fair use” of logos associated with federal government agencies. It is the NSA, and its extensive spying on the American people, that may be in violation of the Bill of Rights. Sign the petition to tell the NSA to stop harassing Americans who are exercising their constitutional rights.

  • Support the Pocatello Nondiscrimination Ordinance
After an ordinance was past in June of this year, Pocatello will now hold elections again in May of 2014 to repeal this ordinance. • Senate Progressives: Stand Up For LGBTQ Americans!
LGBTQ workers desperately need federal legislation that would end discrimination in the workplace -- but the version of ENDA that is currently pending in the House and Senate stops short of ending workplace discrimination once and for all. We deserve more than "asterisk equality." We're asking progressive champions in the Senate -- Senators Elizabeth Warren, Al Franken, Kirsten Gillibrand, and Sherrod Brown -- to stand with us in opposing the broad religious exemptions that actually write discrimination into a non-discrimination bill!

  • Walmart and gross corporate corruption.
I worked at Walmart for nearly 10-years before being severely persecuted and fired in direct retaliation for reporting the manager's abusive bullying of a handicapped female colleague. Many other employees saw and heard the abuse and hysterical crying, but due to the catstrophic and devastating effects of massive gross systematic corporate corruption on our American culture, society, and worklace today, they were all afraid to report it, and despite my grueling 2-year legal battle in which I provided absolute proof of flagrant violations of civil and labor laws, and even a police statement proving Walmart's lying to federal investigators with intent to defame me and obstruct justice, nothing was done. End the massive gross systematic corporate corruption that strips our great American citizen/ Walmart workers of their civil and human rights, right to justice under the law, and their very honor and dignity. "No American Citizen Should Have to Live and Work With a Fear in Their Heart of Reporting Abuse of Another Human Being in the Workplace."
