• Affirmative action for people over 50
The protected categories for federal contractors include sex, race, veterans & Hispanic surname. Statistics show that people over 50 are spending more than twice as long between jobs as the youngest members of the job pool, with the amount of time between jobs going up steadily with age. There is an assumption that older people or more experienced people are more expensive, but this is not necessarily true. Older job applicants need protection. If being over 50 were added to the protected classes for federal contractors, this would be a first step.

  • JUSTICE FOR JASMIN
An African American young female is shot and killed by a white boy who claims it was an accident. Why wasn't he arrested? Why wasn't he charged and let a jury of his peers decide his innocence or guilt? What kind of world are we living in that every time you open the newspaper or turn on the news, an african american is being killed by a caucasion and not charged or arrested, but if this was a white female killed in front of her home by a black male he would have been arrested, charged and 95% convicted of something!

  • Tell Congress to NOT let banks disenfranchise working class people!
Now that properties are affordable for working class people, banks are saying NO to offers that require financing and only working with CASH buyers. MOST people buy with a loan because it takes such a long time to save to buy cash. This behavior is prolonging the real estate market recovery, supressing values AND allowing the Rich to get Richer. Why should a hardworking person NOT be able to buy a property if they are willing to buy it and can get a mortgage to buy and fix!

  • Please, sign and share: Justice for Anna Brown
Homeless, broke, and alone, Anna Brown hobbled into the St Mary's Hospital ER with an ankle injury. Anna, uninsured, was told to leave; when she refused, the police were called. Anna, sitting in a wheel chair, was physically removed and arrested for "disturbing the peace and resisting arrest." Video, obtained by a local TV news program, under Missouri's Sunshine Act, clearly shows how helpless Anna was. Anna was carried, by a Richmond Heights, MO, police officer to a jail cell; she was left on the concrete floor writhing and crying in agony. That is how she died! The only air time this travesty has received was on the Mike Malloy Radio Show shortly after it occured.

  • A Call to the NASW: Mobilize and Prepare the Profession for Undoing Structural Racism
We call upon National Association of Social Workers and chapters to mobilize its base and build a movement for anti-racist social change. This will happen when we address, as a collective, how structural racism is built into us, our own institutions, and in every system.

  • Get Guns...off our streets!
I am tired of turning on the news and hearing story after story of innocent people, like Trayvon Martin, the Mom in Texas who was shot to death outside the pediatricians office, having her 3 day infant ripped from her arms...or the school attacks. How many more killings will it take till we take the guns off the streets and challenge the Gun lobbyists to realize its time for change? How will we ever enjoy peace if we are killing each other in the streets? Even the New York cab drivers are now seeking permission to carry guns! Anyone listening? We need PEACE IN OUR WORLD...not more GUNS!
