  • White House/DHS Should Reunite Haitian Families!
The White House should instruct DHS Secretary Napolitano to create a Haitian Family Reunification Program to expeditiously reunite with their families many of the 112,000 beneficiaries of DHS-approved family-based visa petitions who remain on a wait list of nearly three to eleven years in Haiti, where many won't survive. This would mirror DHS's ongoing Cuban program and has broad support because it has precedent and would save lives, help Haiti recover and cost little.

  • Institute Civil Rights Protections in the Referendum Process
Civil and political rights are a class of rights that protect individuals' freedom from unwarranted infringement by governments, private organizations and fellow citizens and ensure one's ability to participate in the civil and political life of the state without discrimination or repression. Part of the reason that we have civil right's legal protections is because historically, different groups of people have been denied those rights at all levels of society based on their race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability or national origin. The civil rights of a group of people should not be allowed to be curtailed in any way through the use of popular vote.

  • Domestic Partnership filing fee, separate and NOT equal.
My partner and I just filed for Domestic Partnership. The filing fee for male/female couples is $10.00. The fee for same sex couples is $33.00! Here is their reason: "The additional $23.00 fee will be used to develop and support a training curriculum specific to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender domestic abuse support service providers who serve that community in regard to domestic violence, and to provide brochures specific to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender domestic abuse. Brochures developed by the State Department of Public Health will be available upon request from the Secretary of State, as funding allows". Where is this training curriculum? I asked my daughter, who is a lesbian, if she had ever seen any. Of course her answer was no. As these brochures are only available upon request, I think that the additional $23.00 should only apply if you request brochures. As far as I'm concerned, this addtional fee is prejudicial and should be removed. Thank you for signing!

  • Traffic Tickets: paying before proving not guilty
I would like to see a bill passed regarding, traffic tickets being paid upfront before proving a persons innocence. By paying the ticket upfront before a trial, the court only ASSUMES your guilt. Lawmen and women are only human and can easily make mistakes as well as the rest of us.

  • FOX NEWS - Does Foreign Born Rupert Murdoch Have The Best Interest of the USA and her Citizens?
It seems clear that Fox News does not subscribe to TRUTH and INTEGRITY in reporting news. One University study says that watching no news is better than watching Fox News' "truth." I contend that Fox News is BAD for America and America's Future.

  • Gender Discrimination by DMV
Iowa DMV since Iowa law changed in 2007 has refused to update its licencing of Driver lic. In Iowa. On present license it states the word SEX. Iowa law contains no words in such manner which can be more diversified. Gender is the new proper title and in such Discriminates against all Crossdressers and Transgenders and Transsexuals. I have suggested that Sex be deleted and Gender be accepted. Under Gender on license is M. for male or F. for Female and T for Transgender and if proof enough C for crossdresser of which there will be very few. Transgenders are public persons. All ready Law suit in Delaware County of Sheriff who didnt know Iowa law.

  • Wayne Williams Deserves a New Trial
On February 27, 1982, a young Atlanta man with no prior criminal record was convicted of murdering two men. Shortly thereafter, the Atlanta Police Department closed 23 homicides and attributed them to Wayne B. Williams, calling him the "Atlanta Child Murderer." Since then, evidence has surfaced suggesting that Williams did not kill either of the two men or any of the children. Research also indicates that the evidence against Williams was faulty and even fabricated (at the time, the FBI lab used faulty techniques to convict hundreds of people, according to The Washington Post). http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/crime/doj-review-of-flawed-fbi-forensics-processes-lacked-transparency/2012/04/17/gIQAFegIPT_story.html

  • Safeguarding the rights of parents of Deaf children
Deafness is a non life threatening occurance. Parents should not be required by biased courts to force their children to wear hearing aids or cochlear implants one of which is elective surgery. Parental rights should never be taken away based on the idea that oral learning is the ONLY way to acquire language. Sign language is as viable a way to learn about the world as any oral language. Stop forcing Deaf children to conform to a hearing environment if they choose not to.
