• Request Barack Obama participate in an Online Debate
DemocracyPlusPlus.com is attempting to facilitate a more personal and accessible civil discourse between citizens and candidates for, or holders of elected office. We plan on using a combination of live video streaming with a one-time-use login for individuals to pose questions, then vote for those questions that they feel should be asked. Our hope is that these debates and question-answer sessions will foster a greater interest in politics among citizens and lessen the gap between holders of public servants and those they serve. We create these petitions on behalf and at the request of individuals and concerned voters. To request a petition, visit democracyplusplus.org/petition.html

  • Stop Your Attacks On The 99%
STOP chipping away at the little gains that the 99% are trying to survive on. You refuse to place the blame for these deficits where they belong. Those who make over $250 thousand and upwards. Yet you attempt to persecute average working poor and those young people who want to attend college, seniors and low to middle income families. Enough is Enough. Get out of our pockets and go after the deep pockets they the money we don't.

  • Take Rush Limbaugh off the air in El Paso, TX, Quiten a Rush Limbaugh del radio en El Paso.
Rush Limbaugh's reprehensible attack on Sandra Fluke, the college student who spoke to Congress about women's reproductive rights, calling her a slut and a prostitute and asking her to make a sex video, should be the end of his on-air career. He has in the past attacked African-Americans, Latinos, and other minorities and it is time for him to stop doing so. Let's convince KTSM AM 690 to kick him off the air in El Paso, TX.

  • Test Result Privacy for Oregon HS Students
When a series of FOIAs were initiated to track nationwide testing of the Armed Services Aptitude Battery (ASVAB),it was found that Oregon is leading all other states with Opt-Out compliance (63% vs. 12%, national average). However,,various individual Oregon schools were found to be in apparent non-compliance with existing Federal law. This data found that 19% of these schools not only mandate such testing, but automatically release all test results to recruiters in violation of federal parental opt-out requirements.

  • Hawaii's Accepted Medical Use of Cannabis
When the State of Hawaii accepted the medical use of Cannabis in 2000 by creating Hawaii's Medical Marijuana Program, it did so because of the fact that States have the right to decide the medical use of controlled substances. However, nothing has been done since that time to correct the resulting discrepancy between state and federal law regarding this substance. It is up to the Governor of Hawaii, who has legal standing in this matter, to obligate the Attorney General of the United States to recognize Hawaii's right to decide the medical use of controlled substances, and thereby remove Cannabis from Schedule I.

  • Say "NO" to new voter ID laws.
There is no need to create new voter ID laws because there is no epidemic of voter fraud. These new ID laws will disenfranchise the poor, the elderly, minorities, and students. A democracy is best served when voting is encouraged.

  • Keep the Internet free of spies and restrictions
The Recording and Movie Industries (RIAA and MPAA) are conspiring to have servers (such as Google, Yahoo, Verizon, etc.) spy on you and your downloads. They want to have your Internet access cancelled, or restricted, if you download anything of which they do not approve. This is a serious infringement of Free Speech and Freedom of Information.

  • Support Gov.Perdue on Voting Rights!
Republicans want to override Gov. Perdue's veto of "Photo ID to vote in NC",House Bill 351. This "qualification"would prevent 450,000 citizens from voting. In-person voter fraud is NOT a significant issue in NC. This is an attempt to disenfranchise people without photo ID-students,the elderly, the poor,Hispanics and African Americans. NC House majority leader,Paul Stamm, says he has the votes to override Gov. Perdue's veto in May. We believe this requirement is unconstitutional. We support Gov.Perdue's veto.

  • Stop Voter Supression
There IS no problem with voter fraud. Recent Voter ID laws were passed with the sole purpose of preventing minorites, senior citizens and college students from voting. These groups historically vote for Democratic candidates. People who support Voter ID laws are Republican.

  • Repeal the NDAA - Pass the Due Process Guarantee Act
On Dec.31st 2011 Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act into law. Clauses 1021 and 1022 of that bill legalize the indefinite imprisonment of any American citizen by the MILITARY without charges, evidence, trial or legal representation - all of which violates the 1st, 5th and 6th amendments to the constitution - on the accusation, not proof, that the person has committed a "belligerent act" or "substantially supported" a force hostile to the US. These terms have no legal meaning and can be used to justify the arrest and imprisonment of any person for anything. All but 10 senators voted "yea" while the House was split. Some members of Congress are moving to reverse the damage with the Due Process Guarantee Act, a bill that would restore the rights of Habeas corpus, trial by jury and legal counsel guaranteed in the Bill of Rights to all American citizens and legal residents. The bill is stuck in committee in both Houses and as of this writing does not have enough votes to pass. Find your representatives and how they voted here: http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=112&session=1&vote=00230#position and here http://www.govtrack.us/congress/votes/112-2011/h932 Congress also passed the "Trespass Act", a bill that would have made ML King's March on Washington an illegal act. In addition, Senator Lieberman is sponsoring the "Enemy Expatriation Act" a bill that would remove all citizenship rights of any person accused (not proven) of having committed a "belligerent act". Our goal is one million signatures. Our signatures will be delivered to every member of Congress.
