End mistreatment of American children; Ratify the CRC!Three former U.S. Presidents have denied children their basic human rights, and Obama will too unless we demand action. The CRC, The Convention on The Rights of the Child, is an international treaty that has been ratified by every country on Earth except the U.S. and Somalia. The CRC can change childrenʼs lives by finally giving our children their basic human rights. These two children are paying for this: Cristian Fernandez is a 12-year-old boy who faces life in prison. http://www.change.org/petitions/reverse-decision-to-try-12-yo-cristian-fernandez-as-an-adult This 6 year old Texan boy was hospitalized after a school paddling. http://weatherforddemocrat.com/local/x980632247/School-parent-OK-with-paddling Thousands of children in America suffer in similar ways! But Obama has the power to stop this by ratifying the CRC! What does the CRC guarantee American children? •The right to play. •The right to be safe. •The right to practice the religion of their choice. •The right to an education without physical punishment. •The right to be tried as a child, and not sentenced to life in prison without parole. In 1995, President Clinton signed the CRC, but he didnʼt send it to the Senate. It is time for our President to take real action. Obama says heʼs committed to improving the lives of our children. He says he values their well-being. He says itʼs an embarrassment that the U.S hasn't ratified the CRC. Enough talk, Mr. President. It’s time for action! Over 200 non-profits support the CRC, yet a small group of people are afraid of children having rights. They think parents should have 'fundamental rightsʼ over their children, to include the fundamental right to be criminally negligent parents. Here are a few of the crimes that will start to disappear: -Child beatings occur in schools in 19 states more than 200,000 times a year. -Approximately 6 million cases of child abuse go unreported annually. -At least 200,000 children are sexually trafficked across the U.S. annually. . The U.S. is the only country on earth to imprison children for life without parole. -America is the worst offender of child abuse in the Industrialized World. It is time to end the hypocrisy, and give children their rights. It is time for our President to do the right thing. NH doesn't need photo I.D.'s for votersVoter fraud is practically non-existent, and the NH legislature should stop wasting so much time on bills restricting peoples' rights. The requirement of any I.D. document that costs the citizen money is equal to imposing a poll tax, which was prohiited in 1964, by the 24th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Barbara Frake

End the Gay Marriage BanThis petition is about the injustice and inequality that the gay community is facing in the state of Florida. Although discrimination against gays exists in other parts of our country, it is slowly declining with the recent legislation allowing gays to marry in several states such as New York, Washington, and Maryland. Ending this ban will end the use of personal religious beliefs in politics.242 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Danielle McClain

Repeal the Trespass Act!It is one thing to make encroaching on White House grounds a misdemeanor, which is understandable. But to make a peaceful protest/demonstration/picket line when the Secret Service is present a FELONY? Did any of the 388 members of the House who voted Yea on this bill even read the First Amendment? In the wake of the atrocities committed against various Occupy groups, and this bill on the verge of signing near the start of the "99% Spring" week, this sets a dangerous precedent.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Sam Feeley

Protect Democracy in Virginia!Governor Bob McDonnell is considering signing two new laws that will take the vote away from thousands of Virginians. These laws are about one thing: preventing people of color, seniors, immigrants, and young people from voting. Senate Bill 1 requires that Virginians show extra and unnecessary forms of identification at the polls. Seniors, low-income Virginians, young people, and immigrant voters are the least likely to meet the new excessive ID requirements. Voters without the right ID have to fill out a “provisional ballot.” House Bill 63 lets political party elites gather behind closed doors to determine which provisional ballots to count and which to throw out. We're calling on Governor McDonnell to veto these bills today and protect democracy for all Virginians.7,141 of 8,000 SignaturesCreated by VirginiaNewMajority.org

Kony 2012Joesph Kony is the leader of a Ugandan Guerrilla Group ; called the Lord's Resistance Army ( L.R.A). NO Voter ID IN Minnesota ConstitutionVoter ID technologychanges as years go by-but putting Voter ID into the state consitutionhas the effectt of freezing technology into oneday oblostete systems. And as a consequence people have an unoffical poll tax, because of requirements (birthcerticficates andother things) that cost money, so that poorare excluded from voting right at the get go. Voting so be free fair and fundamental as a right in our democracy.13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Arlin Carlson

Voter suppression lawsI am concerned that with about 37 states passing laws requiring Voter IDs coupled with other legislation relating to absentee voting, and early registration restrictions that it is a smoke screen to prevent citizens from exercising their constitutional right to VOTE. These laws will undoubtedly affect the rights of minorities, the elderly and students of age from voting. There is little evidence that "voter fraud" that these laws are alleged to prevent even exists. We would like the Justice department to investigate these voter suppression laws that they are.18 of 100 SignaturesCreated by p.d. santiago
