• Protect the Voting Rights of Egyptians Abroad!
We are expressing our strong opposition to the disenfranchisement of Egyptian voters abroad in the lead-up to the parliamentary vote on Monday, November 28. In response to a lawsuit filed by Egyptians abroad, the Egyptian Administrative Court ruled on October 25, 2011 that Egyptian citizens living overseas have the right to vote in parliamentary elections. The court’s decision affirmed the basic civil right of Egyptians abroad to participate in Egyptian electoral politics as full and equal members of Egyptian society. It was a first for Egypt’s 7 to 10 million Egyptian citizens living abroad, and winning this right was a key demand of protesters in Tahrir.

  • Say "NO!" to Poll Tax on Texas Voters
Texas Republican legislators, and Gov. Rick Perry, are demanding state citizens show photo ID before they vote. This forces us to pay for the right to vote. Perry's shameless attack on the elderly, the poor and our disabled citizens, who can't afford to obtain ID, will cost them their right to vote.

  • Medal of Honor for Doris "DORIE" Miller
On December 7, 1941, when the Japanese made their infamous surprise attack at Pearl Harbor, a black cook, Doris "Dorie" Miller took over a machine gun aboard the USS West Virginia and became one of the first heroes of World War II. Miller dragged the ship's commanding officer, Capt. Bennion out of the line of fire, and manned the ship's machine gun. Despite shooting down several attacking aircraft his citation for bravery his citation reads: "For distinguished devotion to duty, extraordinary courage and disregard for his own personal safety during the attack on the Fleet in Pearl Harbor, Territory of Hawaii, by Japanese forces on December 7, 1941. While at the side of his Captain on the bridge, Miller, despite enemy strafing and bombing and in the face of a serious fire, assisted in moving his Captain, who had been mortally wounded, to a place of greater safety, and later manned and operated a machine gun directed at enemy Japanese attacking aircraft until ordered to leave the bridge." Like Miller, no African-American sailor or officer was ever recommended for or awarded a Congressional Medal of Honor. They served despite many other similar heroic efforts, and under extremely oppressive conditions during World War II. Many often fought a quiet, internal battle with officers who consistently implemented unlawful orders, denied them equal protection under the Constitution, and generally put their men at risk in the face of the enemy.

  • Kizzy Hunter: Protect the Rights of Injured Workers'
If laws presently on the books are diligently enforced, and if the rights of injured workers are still not protected, this creates a great injustice to injured workers as well as society as a whole. The injustice not only plagues injured workers and their families it burdens the economy. Anyone is susceptibe to a work related injury and this petition demands fair and just treatment across the board for injured workers. Ms. Hunter has continued to fight against the gross violation of injured workers' rights through her own work related injury. She knows firsthand the disadvantage, oppression, and nihilism that detrimentally impacts workers' as a whole. This is a real and palpable issue due to the excessive shift in costs, increased poverty rates, lack of accountability, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, lack of transparency, conflict of interest, misrepresentation, which places massive burdens upon taxpayers, and other managed health care entities, the economy, and skyrocketing rate increases as a result of filing a claim, which significantly impacts small businesses. Also, excessive costs placed upon the government through Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security permeates a significant problem. Injured workers you're not alone and this petition demands protection of injured workers rights, fair treatment, and accountability for compensable injuries.

  • Vetoing the National Defense Authorization Act
The National Defense Authorization Act is a bill passed by Congress, that if allowed to take hold, could effectively make our Bill of Rights null. If passed the U.S Military would be a part of Domestic policing in regards to "terrorists". Any citizen could be arrested and indefinitely detained without trial under this Act, on suspicion of "terrorism". Please, show our government that we will not sit idly by as our Natural and Constitutional rights are taken away from us, and we go one step closer to Martial Law. Any signature and any re-posting will help but it's vital we act fast. This Act will entirely change our country for the worse if we don't act now.
