• Philadelphia: Tell Comcast to Pay Its Fair Share
Philadelphia is renegotiating a "franchise" deal to let Comcast, headquartered right here in Philly, sell cable in our neighborhoods for another 15 years. While our cable and Internet rates go up, our city struggles with big budget cuts - and Comcast's taxes are less than half the average of what other Pennsylvania businesses pay. With this new franchise, we have a once-in-a-generation chance to lower our rates, ensure quality, affordable Internet service for poor and working folks, and to get Comcast to pay its fair share to the city that gives it so much.

  • Help Elizabeth Warren Change Wall Street and Pass the 21st Century Glass-Steagall Act
Senators Elizabeth Warren, John McCain, Maria Cantwell, and Angus King have introduced a bill that would make the biggest banks simpler and smaller and once again end the public subsidy to Wall Street speculation. By requiring banks to focus on lending to the real economy, the 21st Century Glass-Steagall Act would point the way toward a financial system that better serves consumers, small businesses and the nation as a whole.

  • Congress: It's time to end the Turbo Tax scam!
Companies will never stop trying to manipulate the government into giving them a bigger market share. But we can still call out our lawmakers for caving in — and we now have a full year to tell them enough is enough.

  • Gov. Brown: GIVE 500,000 CALIFORNIA KIDS A STRONG START
Making sure every child has access to early learning is a smart investment for California – and it’s the right thing to do. Children who attend preschool are more likely to perform better in school, graduate from a four-year college, and be consistently employed later in life. Let's tell Governor Brown we want everyone, including corporations, to pay their fair share so we can invest in priorities like expanding early learning for all kids!

  • Public Hearing , gas explosion in East Harlem by National Transportation Safely Board
None of us are safe while Con Edison , which reaped over $ 1 billion in profits in 2013, neglects to repair the infrastructure of gas pipe. We need some guarantee that the landlords , Con Ed,or City who ignore known safety risks that lead to families being forcibly removed from their homes will not be allowed to return around and create unaffordable housing development. We need an independent environmental impact study to address the asthma crisis in East Harlem and explore safer for forms of energy

  • Tell Gables Residential to Build it Better: Ensure Good, Safe Jobs
Gables Residential is a prominent developer of luxury apartments in the Southern United States. We need help exposing how construction workers on numerous Gables projects have reported widespread cases of abuse, including: • Not being paid for their work – over $130,000 in wage theft • Denial of legally mandated rest breaks • Unpaid overtime and unsafe working conditions We need you to help us fight back. Workers Defense Project is asking that Gables becomes a Better Builder by ensuring that construction workers who help build their luxury apartments receive a living wage, have safe working conditions, and are able to earn a rewarding career in the industry. Gables has the opportunity to become an industry leader by investing in the workers who have labored tirelessly to help make Gables Residential profitable. We are asking Gables to take this opportunity to improve the lives of thousands of workers. Workers Defense Project (WDP) is a nationally recognized organization, which fights to improve the poor conditions in the construction industry. We have been acknowledged by The New York Times as “one of the nation’s most creative organizations for immigrant workers” and have recovered over $1 million in stolen wages for workers. WDP has signed landmark agreements with developers, which combine expanded safety protections and living wage requirements to improve working conditions. We are asking Gables to join these other developers in ensuring good, safe jobs for thousands of workers.

  • ACT NOW: Support UW Students in demanding Jansport improve safety in their Bangladeshi factories
On the eve of the anniversary of the Rana Plaza building collapse in Bangladesh, one of the worst factory disasters in garment industry history, Jansport is refusing to sign onto the Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh. The Accord is a legally binding contract that will hold apparel brands accountable for the fire and safety standards in their factories by forcing brands like Jansport to work with unions on the ground. We would hate to see Husky apparel in the rubble of the next great factory collapse. Add your name and pass this along to support the efforts of UW students and Bangladeshi garment workers!
