• HEB Grocers please label products with GMO's
Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO's) are not healthy for human consumption and have been shown to cause tumors in laboratory rats. I am asking folks that shop at HEB to sign this petition asking HEB to label the products on their shelves containing GMO's.

  • Fast food companies steal from employees
Fast food companies are a $200 billion dollar a year industry. But obscene profit earned by paying workers poverty wages just isn't enough for them – they also steal money from employee pockets by bouncing paychecks, forcing staff to work unpaid and off the clock, and illegally deducting money for things like uniforms and trainings. This isn't some occasional incident – it's common practice. 84% of fast food employees surveyed have been stolen from in the last year. It's outrageous and must stop. Sign our petition to the worst offenders.

  • Pass the "Sunshine in Campaigns Act" now.
This is a comprehensive approach that strengthens the reporting requirements, improves disclosure, modernizes the online filing system, and increases the fines for violations. SB 2, 3, and 27: • Close the non profit reporting loophole. This would prevent future campaigns from Receiving millions from donors, or out of state interests, without having to disclose their sources. • Requires candidates to“stand by their ads.” • Toughens slate mailer disclosures • Requires the Secretary of State to create a new online reporting system • Creates regular, more frequent reporting requirements • Increases fines for violations • Requires disclosure of the top donors on all television, radio, print and web ads. Back in January, when the bills were introduced, there was some conflicting language between them, even though all four bills were dedicated to disclosure of campaign contributions. So the authors, Senators Lieu, Leland, Correa, and Leno worked with each other to ensure that all four bills were compatible and made a comprehensive package. Now, all four senators have endorsed each other’s bills and Common Cause has endorsed all four bills. The Sunshine in Campaigns Act • SB 2 authored by Sen. Ted Lieu • SB 3 authored by Sen. Leland Yee • SB 27 authored by Sen. Lou Correa The Disclose Act • SB 52 authored by Sen. Mark Leno. California could turn the tide on election reform by passing the The Sunshine in Campaigns Act and the California Disclose Act, measures that would shed light on the shadowy interests who depend on secrecy to influence elections.

  • Stolen Wages
I have an ex boss who refuses to pay me the wages that he owes. There is no redress in the state of Florida. The only avenue available is Small Claims Court. I feel the State should offer some assistance when this happens.

  • Protect our democracy from unlimited spending in elections, and from corporate constitutional rights
Government by the people is increasingly under attack by big money in politics and corporate constitutional rights, and only an amendment to the U.S. Constitution can fix the problem. Several amendments have been proposed in the House to address these issues, including H.J.RES.20 and H.J.RES.21 proposed by Congressmen McGovern [MA-2] as well as H.J.RES.29 proposed by Congressman Rick Nolan [MN-8]. However, similar amendments have not been proposed in the Senate. Supreme Court decisions have unleashed an avalanche of money in our elections that shapes the public dialogue, greatly influences who will run for and win elected office, and makes our elected representatives increasingly beholden to the biggest donors rather than to the voters. To make matters worse, the Court has used the assertion that corporations have constitutional rights to strike down hundreds of local, state, and federal laws protecting our democracy, our health, and our safety. For example: The Court overturned a law banning corporate funding of ballot question campaigns; nullified state laws requiring the food industry to disclose all of the ingredients in our foods; and prevented our communities from banning cigarette advertising near schools in the name of “corporate free speech.” But corporations are not people. Only a constitutional amendment can undo these threats to self-government and ensure that government works for us—not just for corporations and wealthy interests. A constitutional amendment will protect sensible campaign finance laws as well as safeguard laws that keep us safe and healthy. The Massachusetts Senate delegation should lead on this issue by sponsoring the first constitutional amendment in the Senate that addresses both unlimited spending in elections and corporate constitutional rights. Government of the people, by the people, and for the people depends on it. • STOP PAC'S AND SUPERPAC'S AS WELL AS BIG BUSINESS BUYING VOTES!
More and more you hear about political action groups (PAC) and super political action groups (SUPERPAC) as well as big businesses such as AT&T and others buying votes via and through campaign contributions. This is NOT in the best interest of the American citizens at large.
