Require employers to carry Disability Insurance, like they do Unemployment InsuranceThe government makes employers carry unemployment insurance to help their employees that are off work and bodily able to work, yet they DO NOT require them to carry Disability Insurance which covers people who are off and CAN NOT work due to health reasons. You are not allowed to draw the unemployment if you are not able to work. So therefore you have no income while you are off sick. This is not a fair scenario. It is time to change this, as you can only get disability insurance through a payroll deduction. This affects those who have a term contract for a certain number of years that renews each year. Regardless of where an employee is within their term, the position is being cut when the yearly renewal comes up. There are many employees throughout the country that this is currently affecting, and can effectively shut down crucial departments that are mostly made up of employees under these terms. One such department is the Technology Integration division of the Army's prestigious Defense Language Institute in Monterey, Ca. This division creates interactive educational materials for soldiers learning foreign languages, which the US Government views as a critical expense.
