Government by the people is increasingly under attack by big money in politics and corporate constitutional rights, and only an amendment to the U.S. Constitution can fix the problem. Several amendments have been proposed in the House to address these issues, including H.J.RES.20 and H.J.RES.21 proposed by Congressmen McGovern [MA-2] as well as H.J.RES.29 proposed by Congressman Rick Nolan [MN-8]. However, similar amendments have not been proposed in the Senate. Supreme Court decisions have unleashed an avalanche of money in our elections that shapes the public dialogue, greatly influences who will run for and win elected office, and makes our elected representatives increasingly beholden to the biggest donors rather than to the voters. To make matters worse, the Court has used the assertion that corporations have constitutional rights to strike down hundreds of local, state, and federal laws protecting our democracy, our health, and our safety. For example: The Court overturned a law banning corporate funding of ballot question campaigns; nullified state laws requiring the food industry to disclose all of the ingredients in our foods; and prevented our communities from banning cigarette advertising near schools in the name of “corporate free speech.” But corporations are not people. Only a constitutional amendment can undo these threats to self-government and ensure that government works for us—not just for corporations and wealthy interests. A constitutional amendment will protect sensible campaign finance laws as well as safeguard laws that keep us safe and healthy. The Massachusetts Senate delegation should lead on this issue by sponsoring the first constitutional amendment in the Senate that addresses both unlimited spending in elections and corporate constitutional rights. Government of the people, by the people, and for the people depends on it. More and more you hear about political action groups (PAC) and super political action groups (SUPERPAC) as well as big businesses such as AT&T and others buying votes via and through campaign contributions. This is NOT in the best interest of the American citizens at large.

Sick-leave for employees! I lost my job because I was sick. My company didn't care! Been with that company for 9 1/2 years. Worked very hard, sometimes 17 days straight. No compassion or regard for the employee. I'm a Personal Care Assistant. I take care of the elderly. Worked 2 times when I had Walking Pneumonia, brought all my medications with me to my patient's home. I developed Asthma afterwards and had to bring my kit for Asthma. No work, no pay!!!!! This is another case that happened to me. That's what they said when they terminated me because of being ill with stomach problems.....throwing up and down. I asked they if they were laying me off cause I needed to collection unemployment. She smiled and nodded her head. ?

The richest companies of the world have minimalized, jeapordized and destroyed our chances and our children's chances of the pursuit of life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness and our freedom to live in a healthy, sustainable planet. They have enslaved us w/ debt and/or forcing us to work for them. They have bought our tv channels and suppressed real news, they have bribed, manipulated and bought our governments to implement worldwide monopolization and domination. They allow slave labor in their factories. They pollute land, air, sea, and our genetically modified food. We must sue guilty and associated parties to correct their skewed law changes and make the game transparent, fair and reasonable.

Direct-to-consumer prescription drug advertisements are legal in 2 countries: United States and New Zealand. Advertising prescription drugs directly to the consumer via television, radio and print, significantly increases demand, and contributes to the high cost of healthcare.

Everyone in this great country has been affected by banks,huge corporations and their lobbyists using our existing tax laws to exclude them from paying taxes! The whole nation and every single person I talk to says and knows this is immoral and wrong. Whatever happened to justice to all? Our government needs to have the testicular fortitude to ban lobbyists and take a second look at tort reform!!!

Calling for an Amendment to the Constitution to repeal campaign Financial Laws for Candidates running for office. By calling for an Amendment, it would allow a vote by the American people for ratification of this Amendment. Our entire Government is so dysfunctional that nothing will ever change until this law is put into affect. Personally, I was affected by this from the Senator of my state, Roy Blunt. He received a million plus from the NRA for his NO vote on background checks and was lied to by his staff when I questioned them about calls coming in from constituents, I was told majority of constituents agreed with his position, REALLY? The buying of votes in our government needs to stop! More importantly, the American people will have a vote.

There is a difference between the way a bank's credit is handle, and forgiven, and the way a consumer's credit is handled and forgiven. A company can screw up your credit rating by making stupid mistakes, and it may take years, to straighten these mistakes and errors out, and sometime never. Simply because, someone somewhere, did not present the proper billing to the proper insurance company. These laws should be revisited and revamped to protect the consumer, rather than punish,for some business mistake.
