Since we already have two other Walmarts nearby, another big box store is not needed in Pawleys Island, SC. A 2005 Lowe's effort to locate in Pawleys Island was rejected. As we've stated previously, big box stores are incompatible with many aspects of our small community. We treasure our small businesses, many of which would be adversely affected. Traffic could increase dramatically, and big box stores offer little or nothing that is not already available to us. On July 28, 2012 The New York Times published an investigative article on noise, revealing that high decibel levels in restaurants and clothing stores, to name a few, make patrons consume more and consume faster. Noise has been linked to increased hypertension and heart disease. As a teacher of voice and ear training, I am seeing the day to day damage inflicted by corporate greed on youg eardrums and vocal folds. We are calling on corporate America to stop putting employees and patrons at risk in the name of greed. We are calling on them to reduce the decibel level intheir establishments.But repeated exposure to loud noise often damages hearing and has been linked to higher levels of stress, hypertension and heart disease.

After reporting the largest quarterly earnings in its history , the head of the Walt Disney Co. showed his appreciation to President Obama by stating that he thinks the United States should cut its corporate income tax rate. “We pay a very high corporate tax rate as a company,” Disney President and Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger said. “We know that America is very high, among the highest in the world, if not the highest in terms of corporate tax rates.

My son returned from Iraq in 2009 with 80 weeks of medical training that included Combat Medic School and Nursing School at Walter Reed for one year. He applied to Cal State Sacramento for admission to their school of nursing and was told that they do not give any credit for his military training an experiences. I followed the money to find out why. The money trail goes to the 90-10 loophole in the student loan law that gives for profit schools $145,000 in Federal student loans for non veterans. The loophole and the lack of transfer ability of military training keeps veterans in school longer and out of the employment market. HR 4055 will close the loophole but it has little chance of debate on the House floor since the Republican Leadership is blocking it using money that they received from veterans enrollment in their fro profit schools!!

Stop our Representatives from getting their hands on money that is originally for the people from cashing in on what is meant for the people. When a Representative find monies that is meant for all the people, they need to plan a budget around who are to receive the monies and give people a chance to apply for it before they tell people who are their friends and family. We have so many people stealing from the top that we don't have anything trickling down to the people that really need it.

If a consumer comes to court without an attorney, he or she is directed to the public defenders' office by the courts as an option to be represented. However, what is not explain to the consumer by staff of the Public defenders' office that, If the consumer changes options to seeing a public defender than obtain an attorney. But has already singed in at the window, the consumer must pay a fifty dollar fee, for "only"signing the sheet to see a public defender. The Public Defenders' fee at the window is an unfair charge imposed on the consumer. I ask that fees are suspended, if the consumer's decision changes with regards to seeing a public defender.
