• Tell Dick DeVos to Buy Water Instead of Elections
The DeVos family has underwritten the Michigan Republican Party's disastrous cost-cutting policies in Flint. They should help foot the bill for Flint's ongoing public health emergency.

  • Tell the FCC: Reject the Charter / Time Warner Cable (TWC) Merger
Charter Communications has a dangerous plan to merge with Time Warner Cable, consolidating the two companies into a massive cable and Internet conglomerate. The proposed deal would further reduce competition and choices for consumers — likely leading to higher prices, less diversity, and poorer service. The cable industry already has a horrible record of diversity in ownership and programming, and this deal would make things even worse. If approved, the new monster corporation, “New Charter” would also increase the threat to the open Internet, which has created so many new opportunities for Latinos to organize our communities, create our own media, and start our own businesses.

I depend on watching Bernie2016TV to stay informed about and involved in the Bernie Sanders Democratic Presidential campaign. Our democracy is harmed when grass-roots political movements are censored, and our constitutional rights to freedom of speech and assembly are violated.

  • Airbnb: Stop Listing Vacation Rentals in West Bank Settlements
Airbnb is coming under criticism for listing vacation rentals in West Bank settlements on their website without identifying their location in the West Bank. [1] In a recent report, Human Rights Watch said businesses should stop operating in West Bank settlements because they violate the rights of Palestinian civilians. [2] Urge Airbnb to stop listing vacation rentals in West Bank settlements on their website, or identify them as being in the West Bank, by signing our petition. • Yosemite National Park names should not be changed
Our Beloved Yosemite National Park is being targeted by greed and bitterness of Delaware North Company, forcing name changes of all the historic hotels and villages in Yosemite. The Wawona Hotel, which was opened in 1879, the famous Ahwahnee Hotel, built in 1927, Badger ski pass and many others are owned by Yosemite National Park and “we the people”. A beverage and hotel concession company, Delaware North has no business taking ownership of these historic names simply out of spite because they lost a 20-year business contract to service Yosemite National Park. I started this petition out of outrage that a private company, out of spite and greed, is threatening to take away all of our collective wonderful memories of these historic names that we associate with those places in our hearts. This cannot be allowed; please help and use your voice through this petition to out the greed of Delaware North and get the Governor, the President and Representatives to make this severe wrong right. Return the names that belong to Yosemite National Park and to us, “we the people”. Thank you for signing, Lisa Oaks

  • Say NO to the Trans-Pacific Partnership(TPP)
This is a bad deal: It was negotiated in secret with some of the largest corporations in the world. The labor, human rights, and environmental standards are almost unenforceable. And, like NAFTA, under the TPP American jobs will still be shipped overseas. I’m sick of the promises of good-paying jobs and economic growth that never materialize. And I’m tired of our workers watching their livelihoods disappear. Stand with me and say NO to the TPP.

  • Tell the CA Legislature: Stand up to Big Soda!
California is facing a massive health crisis. An estimated 14 percent of Californians have diabetes today, costing the state $24.5 billion in health and work-related costs. Overwhelming evidence from leading academic research institutions shows that liquid sugar is uniquely responsible. And, a whopping 65% of California teens consume a sugar sweetened beverage, such as soda, every day. The science is clear, and the health risks cannot be ignored any longer: we must act fast. One critical step forward is SB 203, a bill that will help families avoid diabetes by printing a clear and visible warning label on the front of all sugary drinks sold in the state. These labels will send a clear message about the very real dangers soda and sugary drinks pose to our health, and empower Californians to make informed decisions about the products they consume. Three Democrats who have taken money from industry groups that market sugary beverages blocked this critical bill last year by refusing to vote on it. They are threatening to block it again – we only need ONE of them to vote yes. We must join together to defeat Big Soda and their attempts to buy our legislators and stop all efforts to inform consumers and protect our kids. Sign the petition today!

  • This is how we stop secret corporate spending
Corporations are spending investors’ money and retirement accounts -- maybe even YOURS -- to influence elections and lawmakers. But if we speak out right now we can enlist one of the biggest mutual funds in the country to put a stop to secret influence-trading. Shockingly, most corporate political spending is hidden to even their stockholders. But any publicly traded company has to disclose all of its political spending if enough of its shareholders ask. Here’s the problem: on their own, individual stockholders don’t control enough stock to win majority support for a pro-disclosure shareholder resolution. Most stock is held by institutional investors like mutual funds, who tend let the corporation’s executives call the shots. So even when a majority of people who own stock want disclosure, they can’t get it done without institutional investors. That’s why we’re calling on Vanguard, the largest mutual fund in the nation, to vote FOR disclosure whenever a resolution comes up.

  • Tell Iowa’s Media Outlets To Pull Donald Trump's Racist and Misleading Television Ad
For months, Donald Trump has been making up his own "facts" about Mexican Immigrants. Now, Donald Trump is using a heavily doctored video to back up his outrageous claims and the Iowa media is letting him get away with it. It was recently discovered that Donald Trump's campaign manipulated and doctored video footage from an Italian television network to portray Mexican immigrants running across the United State's southern border. In the ad, which is currently airing across Iowa television stations, a narrator says Trump will "stop illegal immigration by building a wall on our southern border that Mexico will pay for." However, PolitiFact traced the footage back to the Italian television network RepubblicaTV from 2014. They discovered that the video wasn't from the US border at all, but from Morocco, a country in northern Africa. PolitiFact also discovered that Trump’s video editors removed both RepubblicaTV’s logo and the 2014 timestamp from the original footage before using it in their commercial. This intentional misrepresentation and manipulation is unacceptable and media outlets across Iowa should refuse to air the ad. If we can demonstrate a strong public response to the fake footage, we can put an end -- at least for now -- to his anti-immigrant fear mongering message. Please join with us in demanding that Iowa media outlets pull Donald Trump's racist and misleading television advertisement.
