• Save Medicare without raising eligibility age
Republicans want to raise the eligibility age for Medicare. Reducing eligibility for Medicare is a step in the wrong direction, moving away from universal health care. We can continue providing quality health care for all eligible seniors for decades to come by merely raising the Medicare tax from 1.45% of earnings to 2%. This tiny tax increase (about $250 per year for the median American family) will increase the resources of the Medicare program by 1/3.

  • Replace Federal Income Tax with a National Retail Sales Tax
We are all effected by a dysfunctional tax system and there is a bill in congress, HR 25, Fair Tax that would eliminate all federal income taxes and only tax consumption with an effective rate of 9%. Additionally HR 25, Fair Tax would act as a great stimulus to our economy. It will take the efforts of ordinary citizens to get this bill out of committee and on the floor for a vote. Contact members on the House Ways & Means Committee asking them to get this important legislation up for a vote.

  • Ask President Obama to change $250k tax limit to $400k.
The President has set a limit for increasing taxes on any single person at $200,000, but has set the limit at $250,000 for couples. This is a sexist policy because it assumes one spouse to be making 25% of the other. It also tacitly discourages successful individuals from marrying financially and intellectually equal spouses. A policy that would treat both spouses equally would set the limit of $200,000 for each spouse. Tell the President that this inequality should be corrected.
