Pass shovel-ready legislation now.The best way to ease the misery of millions of American families, and to improve the economy is to enact shovel-ready legislation to fund jobs that are the normal responsibility of government: repairing damaged bridges, roads ,and school buildings. This will have the quickest impact on the economy.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Gene Bocknek

Withhold Congress' and Senates pay for not doing their jobs!We the people elected the Congress and the Senate to do our business. Yet Congress will not address the Presidents plans to put people back to work. Now the Senate Minority leader wants to postpone business until after the election. The last three years we have paid these representatives a large salary plus benefits and we are made to suffer while they play POLITICS. Every 4 years we go to the polls to elect a group of leaders to do our business and I want to hold them accountable for the money we are paying them.86 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Charles Bright

Stop Outsourcing HCC JobsThe Portage County Board will be voting on July 17 on whether or not to outsource the housekeeping jobs at the Health Care Center. This will cost 7 jobs that pay living wages and affordable benefits, it may negatively affect the residents at the HCC, the employees, and it will take money out of the local economy. Replacing jobs that pay living wages with affordable benefits with low-paying jobs with few benefits harms the local economy. We are asking the County Board to stop the contracting out of these positions.180 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Collene Ottum

Congress should work, at least, a 2080 hour workyear in their chamber. Most American workers are required to work at least 2080 hours a year - an average of 40 hours a week. Our Congress seems to "work" when they want to; or rather, they seem to not work a lot of the time. They've been telling us that they want to help job creators. Go to work and do that. Vote on legislation that's presented and let the majority rule. Stop the foolishness that's going on.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by H. Denise Thompson

Workman's compensation protection for self-employed workersThere currently is no insurance protection available for self-employed workers in the U.S., this creates immense hardship for workers when they are sick or injured while at work. We should have an available program to join similar to the Workman's Compensation program available to "employees".1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Debra L. Zeller

fiscal sanitychanging the laws which allow State and Federal senators retirement packages. This huge drain on our resources might be corrected and free up an enormous amount of money. Why care? We the ordinary people simply can't afford the expense. We need to firmly yet kindly let our representatives know that we can't afford to carry the dead wood any longer.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Sharon Procter

A Promise Made is a Promise keptThe Illinois legislature wants to decrease pension benefits for those who are receiving a pension. This decrease in income will be a hardship for those who will have to choose between eating and buying medicine. Teachers have fulfilled their part by working and contributing for as much as 30 years. Now the legislature wants to void the Constitutional right which, according to the constitution will not be changed.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by David Platt
