• Oppose HR 4170 - The Student Loan Forgiveness Act of 2012
The student loan forgiveness act seeks to "Rescue" students from "crushing" Student Loan Debt. In actuality, it would create a Socialist system where One goes to college and All foot the bill.

  • Re-Open the Job Market=Force Banks to Really Modify Home Loans
There are some home owners who have been trying to get loan modifications for the last five to seven years. The Banks need to clean the slate, really reduce interest rates, reduce the debt on the home to accommodate the current owner, especially when the banks are willing to sell it at a loss. They are turning us into a nation of renters owned by a few. Landlords do not spend money on improvements and upgrades, homeowners do thus demand for landscaping, painting, siding, garden supplies, add-ones, hot tubs, upgrades, appliances, garage doors with openers, and pride of ownership. These are real jobs that pay with real money.

  • Reviving Our Economy
The economy needs a stimulus. We need to enable the retirement of older workers to free up more jobs. We need to give our American workers an even chance to compete with foreign workers. We need to relieve the debt on our young people so they can buy homes. We need to relieve the tax and healthcare burden on companies wanting to hire American employees.

  • Disallow employers to run credit reports on employees for job placement
This petition is to stop employers from running credit checks on employees for future employment. This is important because so many people have been out of employment and had no means of keeping up with some accounts. With employment, people are able to work on their credit and clean up negativity on credit reports.

  • New Stimulus: Metric System Conversion
So many studies show that a government backed stimulus is an effective solution to a slow economy. Converting the US to the metric system would be a massive undertaking and would create jobs in all sectors.

  • Make the oil companies public utilities.
Since it takes about $20 a barrel to get oil in America and most of it is gotten now on public land, which means it's America's oil !!! Then it's sold on the open market for over a hundred dollars a barrel and obscene profits. I purpose we make the oil companies a public utility. Then when we can sell American oil here in America at say, $25-$30 a barrel and it'll help balance the cost of Opec oil. Over the course of years, we'll buy all the stock back at it's current price, so no one will lose any money. THAT WILL stimulate the economy and create jobs. For those that say the government can't run things effectively, look at Social Security: "...is an extremely efficient program, with administrative costs equaling only 0.6 percent of retirement and survivors benefits." Now you show me any company, in any field, that can run it's business that lean. Government can be an effective force for the good of its people, and the benefits of the oil industry should be put to that purpose and not the few fat cats profiteers obscene profits. Remember, it's America's oil on public lands.

  • Jobs for All -- Reduce Taxes for Full Employment
Class warfare is destroying our country. Corporations and rich individuals ("the 1%") work hard to keep their taxes low, keep workers scared and keeping the unemployment rate high. We need to remove their incentive to destroy the middle class and give them clear financial incentives to act morally. This petition will align the financial interests of the 1% with the 99%. We want Congress to increase corporate and wealthy individuals' income tax rate with a large surtax when unemployment is high, and a reduced tax when unemployment is low. All most of them care about is their own financial situation. Under this proposal, the wealthy will work hard to reduce unemployment or suffer the consequences.

  • Stand up for the Port of Georgetown - S.C.
South Carolina's 7th Congressional District includes the Georgetown port. Time and time again, the port has been neglected by elected officials. It's time they stand up and vocally support or port and get dredging funds it desperately needs. Our action could result in forcing the new lawmaker to dredge our port and bring new jobs to Georgetown County in S.C. It's now time we tell all those who have the power to help Georgetown to do so now.

  • Save our Labor Unions
At the turn of the 20th century a lot of blood sweat and tears were shed to prevent big money, corrupt owners and management from endangering our lives and lively hoods. With unions, weather a member or not, wages are higher for all. My Postal union has been without a contract for 2 years and is in arbitration at this time. We have lost income in each of those 2 years because of mail counts without Union intervention. Our wages are going down and the cost of living is going up. We want to know where President Obama stands on this and please support our efforts.

  • Sign the Gambling Bill
Illinois has a large unemployment rate and is experiencing a shortfall in money to run its government. The gambling bill passed by the house and senate needs to be signed into law by Governor Quinn. It will increase jobs in state and also money in the general fund. Help small racetracks like Balmoral Park in Crete to compete with the large casinos mostly in Indiana that are taking Illinois revenue across state lines. Handle at tracks such as Balmoral has steadily declined since the arrival of casinos and help is needed.
