• K-12 Teachers Pay
I know many teachers whom have to work a second job to make ends meat. The current Arizona State teacher pay is grossly neglected and that's not right. Parents expect teachers to elevate their child's love for education so they will be ready for college. Unfortunately, Arizonas teacher shortage and turnover rate speaks for its self! Let's stop this nonsense and give teachers a respectable wage and less extra duties!

  • Recreational Producer Authority to Operate Business: while undergoing change in existing license.
In the production of any crop, time not cultivating has considerable costs and hinderance. It is therefore important to understand the difference between Producer's business than that of retail, extract, and cannabinoid. In production, if a licensee is unable to cultivate mothers and propagate for the upcoming season or indoor session, the halt of operation is not restricted to the time of delay, but an entire season or cultivation cycle. Timing is intrinsic to farming, and thus this should be given precedence to producers to ensure optimal production and consistency. The current rule in place does not give producers beneficial allowance in times of change or business growth, which causes serious impediment to producers business cycles. I personally have been affected by this rule for 60 days and counting, which carries considerable setbacks to the entire year of propagation. It is my goal to draw attention to issues that licensees experience and to assist in changes that not only aid producers but the entire production towards a more consistent marketplace.

  • WE ASK THE WARRIORS -- DON’T steal $40 million from local tax-payers!
The Warriors have already announced that they are leaving Oakland, to move to an over $1 billion new facility they are building in San Francisco. While the move on its own will cause economic harm and job loss to Oakland and Alameda County, and traffic congestion and disruption to vital medical facilities in San Francisco, the Warriors are threatening much greater harm, in seeking to avoid paying the debt they owe, as they leave. This could potentially cause harmful cuts in vital public services for the people of Oakland. See: https://www.mercurynews.com/2017/09/21/golden-state-warriors-arena-authority-at-odds-over-oracle-debt/ The Warriors brought a case to arbitration to try to get out of paying the remaining bond debt that covers the Arena upgrades that they had requested, and had agreed to pay for. https://www.mercurynews.com/2018/02/16/who-will-pay-golden-state-warriors-oracle-debt-dispute-headed-to-arbitration/ If the public loses, the city of Oakland and County of Alameda will likely have to cut public services in order to pay the $40 million debt. The owners are threatening to damage a community that gave so much to the Warriors, including putting the money up front for the Arena. Robert Gammon in The East Bay Express critiques the empty gesture of the Warriors here. https://www.eastbayexpress.com/oakland/the-warriors-empty-gesture/Content?oid=13456895 Gammon quotes, “In other words, Lacob and Guber, we appreciate those new Town jerseys and logos. But they're a hollow gesture if you stiff taxpayers out of the $40 million that you clearly owe — and can afford.” Sign this petition and share it with your friends to tell the Warriors pay their bills. Our community is working on housing its homeless and increasing services to its residents, and should not have to pay the bills for a wealthy corporation. Our people deserve better. Sincerely, Rebecca Kaplan Oakland City Councilmember At-Large

  • "NO!" to Corporate Welfare for General Dynamics
General Dynamics -- the parent company of Bath Iron Works -- is again asking the state of Maine for a tax rebate (with the initial request = $60 million over 20 years). At a time of numerous competing needs for limited tax revenue, an incredibly profitable company (~$3 billion in profits annually; $9.4 billion spent buying its own stocks back over the past 3 years; CEO Phebe Novakovic made $21 million in 2016) does not need "assistance". Further, General Dynamic is employing mafioso-type threats, related to contracts and jobs, to hold the state of Maine hostage to their demands for these tax cuts; we are especially offended by such behavior. We join with countless people across the state and dozens of organizations who say enough is enough with this particularly obscene form of corporate welfare. Please oppose L.D. 1781 in any form. • Tennessee: End predatory lending
There are thousands of citizens trapped in the cycle of predatory lending. The ridiculous interest rates are criminal and while common sense says stay away desperation pushes us in. Laws need to strict on these entities there are locations in every neighborhood and as a consumer I'm concerned about the stability of my community and the financial well-being of citizens statewide. Texas has been successful in driving them out of their state and returning thousands to consumers. Lets do the same in Tennessee.
