Federal Consolidated Loans: Pay what YOU owe not your ex-spousesIn the 1990's the Department of Education allowed married couples to consolidate their student loans. They stopped the program when couples would get divorced and the Department of Education would not sever the loans back to the responsible parties. The Department has a "Loan Summary" sheet that clearly shows which loans are owned by whicch ex-spouse and the capitallized interest on each loan. If you refuse to pay your loans they will go after each spouse separately. They will not honor a judgement or any kind of judicial order to sever your liability from your ex-spouses liability. This affects thousands of families. Responsible people across the country are paying debts of the irresponsible with no remedy. The Department of Education could easily fix this and make those who borrowed the money pay it back.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jason Hare

Kids Shouldn't Eat Pink SlimeThe USDA continues to purchase "pink slime", or ammonia treated beef scraps, for the nation's school lunch program. Lunch foods for children should be nutritious, whole foods, and not "food-like" substances. Mandating a healthier federal school lunch program and using ammonia laced connective tissue as a food additive is hypocritical, wrong and potentially harmful.12 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Dawn Myers

Education Crisis for the Middle ClassThe increase in tuition for state and public UCs has increased to a point where you are denying the middle class from getting a college education. Look for other areas to make budget cuts, but no more to education. California cannot thrive in the future if there is no middle class.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by John Marra

Tell Governor Christie to Fund Public Schools, and not Vouchers! All New Jersey children deserve a quality education provided for by the State of New Jersey. Allowing a voucher program will limit the number of New Jersey students that will be given an opportunity to 'live the life they imagine'.4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Preston H Scott

Jobs not cuts, real school reformThe number one problem people face is not having a job. All effort must be placed in job creation. People are losing their homes and this is hurting children and families. Also, people who are trying to help others are being attacked by some in the press, some politicians and some corporate leaders. Please show your support for teachers as they try their best to educate our future- the children. Thank you for your support of workers and teachers.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by ken budz

Funding Community & Technical CollegesTwo year colleges should be protected by constitutional mandate, just as K-12. Currently there is no mandate to fund them at an existence level. They must grovel for every dime, even though they have a faster and more efficient turn around to prepare their students for gainful employment and become tax payers. The cut backs over the last three years set their ability to provide adequate classes back 20 years. Student tuition has increased well over 20% during this time!16 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Mike Blakely

Support a Reduction in Alaska Student Loan RatesToday you can get a loan to buy a used car for less than 3%, but current and recent Alaska Student Loan Corporation loan rates range from roughly 6.25% to 9%. Please support House Bill 272 to reduce the principal of your Alaska student loan annually by 2.5%, and help Alaskans stay in Alaska and return to Alaska. A 2.5% annual principal reduction is the equivalent of a 3% reduction in the student loan interest rate. Used cars are great, but education loans should include repayment terms that attract Alaskans back to the state, and encourage them to stay. Truth in Educational LendingThe purpose of this petition is to ask Education Corporation of America to be more responsible with the information that they provide their students at the time that they obtain their student loans. They need to eliminate deceptive lending practices and adopt a policy that ensures that each student fully understands all student loan requirements, policies, and procedures as well as credit transferability31 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Anonymous For HigherEd

Save Our Schools! The Ellenville Central School District is facing deep cuts to it's budget that will affect staffing, supplies, programs, sports, clubs and much more. Funding shortfalls that originate on the Federal and State levels are the start of an avalanche effect of destruction that will mark the beginning of the end of our school district. We must let Albany know that our children are more important than politics! State budget deadlines are looming, act now!292 of 300 SignaturesCreated by cynthia bugna

Save South Carolina Retirement Pension SystemThe South Caroina Retirement System is threatened for teachers as well as other state employees. It should not be touched. Workers have invested in the system and for many, it is a lifesaver. Hence, many are counting on it to be there and why shouldn't our money be there? We already know that one can't rely on Social Security alone upon retirement. Don't let legislators squander this money away as well.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by rebecca inabinet
