Fracking is a dangerous and deadly practice! A moratorium should be in place so the citizens of CA have an opportunity to examine the process and know how it would affect the soil and water in our region.

Hydraulic fracturing (fracking) is an environmentally destructive practice which is polluting water resources and impacting communities with toxic waste spills, polluted air and water, and earthquakes. Fracking also uses a lot of water, severely impacting agriculture and urban water supplies. This is also enabling the release into the atmosphere of carbon that was sequestered in the Earth millions of years ago.

Today, as our country and the world experience the results of a global economy we are also experiencing the disastrous results of what an ethics free global economy means to the environment, and to the wonderful biodiversity that is now being threatened by the endless footprint that mankind is leaving upon the earth, and by the drastic loss of irreplaceable biodiversity on this planet. The world needs to come together, and compose a constitution for the planet, and create permanent limitations on how, and where man's footprint is or is not allowed to intrude into areas rich with plant and animal life.

The Hills Conservation Network has been fighting to prevent FEMA from allowing UC/Oakland to use federal disaster mitigation funds to clearcut ALL of the tall trees in the hills. They are targeting eucalyptus, pines, and acacia for complete eradication, not because of a fire risk, but because these species are despised by the native plant restoration community. They have dismissed proposed "species neutral" fire mitigation strategies that would be cheaper, would use far fewer herbicides, and would be far more effective in lessening fire risk because the native plant restoration agenda wouldn't be advanced.

The Homestead Community, and several governing entities in the Edwards Community have united in their concerns that to approve this request would not be an appropriate land use decision.

Park and forest land is being given to developers to make profit for developing. History of Ft. Lincoln community is that the develpers have used abused the mandate from Persident Johnson to make millions for themselves. The land is serving the community as it is and should be not be changed.

I'm a student in an Environmental Science class and we are learning the negative effects of genetically modified organisms on local farmers and the environment. By labeling the food that contains GMOs, we can help our community make better choices about who they support through their purchases.

From the research I've read, fracking is highly dangerous to our health and our environment.

Californians are the purported leaders of environmental concerns in this country, and there are few more egregious activities than fracking. Let's lead the opposition of this unnecessary and deleterious activity!

California is the 4th-largest oil-producing state, but it is the ONLY state that does NOT tax Big Oil. We could raise $2 billion per year to begin repairing the damage of previous cuts to public education by passing a tax on oil extraction. Why doesn't California make Big Oil pay for the privilege of profiting off our natural resources? Sarah Palin signed Alaska's oil severance tax of 25%! Texas charges 7.5%. State Senator Noreen Evans (D-Santa Rosa) has proposed Senate Bill 241, which would tax oil extraction at a modest 9.9%. Public higher education would receive 93% of revenues, and 7% would go to the Department of Parks and Recreation.
