• Help NYC Ban Plastic Foam Packaging
New York City Mayor Bloomberg wants to ban plastic foam food packaging because, as he said, it is "virtually impossible to recycle and never bio-degrades." New York must deal with about 20,000 tons of plastic foam waste every year, costing taxpayers and the environment.

  • Collision Course
President Obama has been saying he wants to address climate change, but in the same speeches he says he wants to speed up the permit process for new natural gas drilling -- that means hydraulic fracturing. New York's Governor Cuomo and New Jersey's Christie have also vowed action against the cause of the severe storms that have devastated their states in recent years. I attended a FRACKED FOR REAL presentation this summer, given by three farmers from Pennsylvania all have leased land for natural gas development and regret it. They can't drink their water, their families have developed health problems, as have their livestock. The industry says natural gas has half the greenhouse gas impact as coal or oil, but recent studies show that the amount of methane released at all steps in the process show that there's no significant saving for the environment. Let's ask the president not to speed up the permit process for natural gas drilling, and instead increase investment in renewables.

  • Fracking in Colorado
"Fracking," defined empirically. The method of extracting natural gas from underground and the source of earthquakes, well and ground water contamination, open toxic waste pits, massive water consumption in a drought prone state, falling home values, vented airborne toxins and ozone depletion.

  • Tell Obama: Reverse your position on fracking
President Obama's State of the Union highlighted fracking for gas and oil as a way to tackle climate change and deal with our energy problems. But, nothing could be further from the truth. In Pennsylvania, Texas and many other states, communities' drinking water has been poisoned by toxic chemicals used in the fracking process. Communities in Wyoming have severe smog problems, leading to more asthma and respiratory problems. And, now there is talk of fracking in the midst of our National Parks and Forests—some of the most beautiful and treasured parts of the US. If we allow fracking to continue to expand, we will imperil the future generations that President Obama so passionately invoked. And the same generations we are trying to protect from climate change, will be left with poisoned aquifers, devastated parks and forests, and more air pollution. That's why we urge President Obama to reverse course on fracking, focus on the significant environmental and health problems, and make sure our health and environment comes first.

  • Just say "no" to fracking!
There is NO safe way to do horizontal hydraulic fracturing ("fracking") for extraction of natural gas. Ground water supplies are poisoned in the process, and the trucking of materials involved, as well as the escaped methane, create greenhouse gases that worsen global warming. This largely unregulated procedure has already caused death and illness to large numbers of people and animals, and has caused environmental degradation wherever it is located.

  • Help Inmates at Kern County State Prison
More than 4,000 inmates at Kern Valley and North Kern State Prisons are being subjected to high levels of arsenic in their drinking , bathing and cooking water. The levels are at least twice what the US Envionmental Protection Agency has deemed healthy..High levels of arsenic have been linked to many cancers and I believe this abuse violates our US Consitution in regards to "Cruel and Unusual Punishment"

  • President Obama: Establish a National Greenhouse Industry
Why do we lend money to other country's to grow our food, when we can grow our own food in our own states? Why do we consume produce from Canadian and Mexican greenhouses...when we can build our own greenhouses? Here are the top 12 benefits to take advantage of this proven and proprietary technology: 1. Permanent Jobs- 518,000 year round 2. Construction Jobs- 126,000 in 45 states 3. $34K avg. pay/yr- attractive job for returning Vets 4. U.S. owned- proven (16 years), proprietary 5. Eliminate Imports- grow 18.6M metric tons of produce 6. Highly Nutritious- bred for taste and quality 7. Food Safety- secure predictable supply 8. End Contamination- protect groundwater from bio solids 9. End Dead Zones- eliminate algae blooms and fish kills 10. Sequester GHGs- 15K tons of CO2 per year per complex 11. “Off the Grid” Ops- TF solar, nanotech highly efficient 12. Renewable Fuel- methane and diesel fuel production.

  • No Fracking in New York
Our environment is already being impacted by oil and gas production and emissions. We will not be able to stop the ill effects of this process. Please place our ongoing initiatives into attracting businesses that are looking into new technologies and education support for our children to be able to compete in the new technology businesses.

  • Fracturing
100% no Fracturing zone in Washington state . It use's to much of our natural resources,(Water 1 million gallons a day). The chemicals used to mix in and the residuals that come out of the fracturing process can affect our drinking water be it underground or surface water and possibly depleting our aquifer. Polluted water leaves our people with long and short term health issues and expenditures, that the state of washington with have to cover. The people of Pennsylvania and Canada who are exposed to fracturing chemicals through well water and food supplies(cattle, sheep and crops ) are affected by the toxicity of the chemicals added to the soil and local water supply. Fracturing companies are out for profit and are not concerned with the long or short term effects of the waste product that they produce by the fracturing process and will claim to recapture the water that returns to the surface, but don't have the ability to clean either captured surface water nor the water left in the soil, to its original pure form it began with.

  • Tell the FDA: Keep GE Salmon Out of Our Food Chain
KEEP FRANKENFISH OUT OF OUR FOOD CHAIN. During the holidays, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) took a controversial step toward approving the first-ever genetically-engineered fish made for human consumption. These fish are the spawn of a company called AquaBounty Technologies and are engineered in foreign laboratories to grow twice as fast as natural Atlantic salmon. And if that’s not scary enough, the FDA isn’t even planning on thoroughly studying all the environmental risks presented by these Frankenfish before giving the green light to AquaBounty. This means these Frankenfish will be produced on a commercial scale before anyone knows what damaging impacts they may have if they invade our most sensitive natural marine environments. The FDA wants to be able to save these crucial questions for a later time, but these questions need to be answered now, before it’s too late.
