Ban Leaf Blowers in Residential NeighborhoodsPollution is a huge environmental issue in the Phoenix metro area, and significantly affects community and individual health. The EPA notes that a single gas-powered leaf blower emits as much chemical pollution per year as 80 cars. Further, leaf blowers do nothing to remove neighborhood debris; they merely blow one yard's waste into neighboring yards. In the process, leaf blowers generate noise pollution and stir up mold, dust, and pollen, contributing to asthma and other respiratory and cardiovascular problems. We need to take a stand against the use of leaf blowers in residential neighborhoods, where they are unnecessary to the upkeep of small yards and impact our children.127 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Kirstin Hendrickson

Mr. President: End Arctic Drilling NowShell Oil announced that it will not resume its oil drilling efforts in the Arctic. While this is not a promise to drop its goal of putting oil platforms in the wild, remote Arctic, it is an admission by Shell that their plans are fraught with problems.24,920 of 25,000 SignaturesCreated by Drew Hudson

Don't Drill Off Our Coasts! The state Senate has introduced a bill (SB 76), that instructs that Governor to negotiate with the federal government to open up our coast to oil and gas drilling. Allowing drilling would threaten our fragile coastal ecosystem, and put our tourist based coastal economy at risk. Imagine if a BP-like spill happened along the Outer Banks! This bill also allows the state to start issuing fracking permits in August 2015, without another vote to lift the moratorium. Please join together to help tell our leadership to stop their rush to drill.1,077 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Dave Rogers

SAVE THE COAST - NO OFFSHORE DRILLINGS.B.76 strongly encourages the Governor to pursue offshore drilling compacts with Virginia and South Carolina, authorizes the Mining and Energy Commission and DENR to begin issuing permits for fracking on March 1, 2015 BEFORE regulations have been approved, eliminates the registration requirement for landmen; removes the State's Geologist from the MEC; and assorted other undesirables. Please sign this petition and send it to your contacts. North Carolina deserves better!911 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by David Streifford

Weaker water quality rules in KentuckyThe Kentucky legislature is going to vote on weakening water quality standards for toxic selenium. The pollutant, while essential to life in tiny quantities, can cause grotesque birth defects in fish and aquatic life. The new standard for short-term exposure would be more than 10 times higher than the previous limit.16 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Gary Parish

One octane and blend of gasoline. Are you tired of higher prices at the gas pump? If you are, it is time to stand up and demand a change in fuel at the pump. If we insist on one type of gasoline, production will rise and the price will fall.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Michael Hamblin

Increase penalties for littering"Researchers calculate that 55% of all littering is done intentionally by people who drop or discard products."...During a one-time sweep of Interstate 35W in Minneapolis, Adopt-a-Highway volunteers picked up 192 tons of trash in one day. The quantity filled 16 Mn/DOT tandem trucks and represented approximately 6,000 filled trash bags." http://www.dot.state.mn.us/adopt/litterfacts.html4 of 100 SignaturesCreated by John Mares

Tell Governor Christie: Global Warming is RealOver 100 days after Superstorm Sandy hit Governor Christie said he doesn’t have time “to ponder the esoteric question of the cause of the storm.” Sadly, there’s nothing to ponder. As New Jersey’s own state climatologist put it, there’s nothing esoteric about it. Hurricanes are nothing new, of course. But global warming supercharges storms, as warming ocean waters fuel more powerful storms and rising sea levels result in more damage to our Shore. We could use the governor’s leadership to help us reduce the pollution that’s behind global warming and extreme weather. Instead, Gov. Christie has pulled us out of the landmark Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) to cap pollution from power plants; raided almost $700 million from New Jersey’s clean energy programs; and killed the largest mass transit project in America. Add your voice. Sign the petition and ask him to lead on global warming.211 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Dan DeRosa

Ban oil and gas drilling in the San Luis ValleyColorado has seen an unprecedented boom in gas drilling, much of this using potentially risky production techniques such as fracking. Living communities all across the state have been significantly impacted and many heavily damaged by these activities. The San Luis Valley is well known for its agriculture, ranching, and tourism activities such as hunting, fishing, and outdoor sports. Its vital watersheds are critical for life in the San Luis Valley and south through New Mexico and Texas. The high water demands that accompany drilling and production are counter to the need to conserve our limited water resources especially in this protracted drought. We demand that the Commissioners of the six counties of the San Luis Valley recognize the unique characteristics of this valley and place a permanent ban on oil and gas drilling in and around the San Luis Valley.1,251 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Pauline Washburn

Modify utility bill customer charge to be based on energy usedI use a very small amount of energy per month of electricity and gas, however the minimum “customer charge" is often at or more than half of the bill. This regressive charge penalizes those who save energy. This charge should be modified to be based on the amount of energy used, proportionately placing the burden on those who use more energy.9 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Edward Ganshirt
