Modesto City needs a real Recycling Program. Too many recyclables are ending up in our dumps. Recycling is not just about saving money but about saving valuable resources for future generations. Do we really want our children to be mining our dumps for these buried resources? There is NO EXCUSE for Modesto not to have a separate recycling bin in which its contents ACTUALLY get recycled. Cost is not an excuse. If other large cities can find a way, Modesto can as well, or we need to elect individuals who can actually do something! Hopefully our new mayor will step up and help out with this important issue. Please share this petition on your Twitter and Facebook accounts. A number of reports have illustrated the dangers of fracking to local water supplies. As mining companies attempt to begin fracking operations in central illinois, it's vital that we demand full disclosure about the potential dangers to our health and environment.

Water providers want to store additional water, to which they have very junior rights, in Chatfield Reservoir. The water will be there maybe 3 years in 10 but the heart of the park - riparian forests and wetlands - will be cleared out to make room for the occasional year's water. Many recreational facilities will be moved but will be far from the water in most years. Fishing, hiking, biking, ballooning and other activities will be affected. There are alternatives less damaging to the State Park but they haven't been seriously considered.

There is too much trash in our streets. We need more people working (more jobs) to pick up the trash and clean our streets. And we need people to stop littering. Let's be proud of our cities and country so visitors speak well of us as a clean, beautiful place.

It is important for our legislators to stop being afraid of the coal and gas money. Move all methods of alternative energy in place now. Pass President Obama's plans to put in place alternative energy now.

Polluting our water supplies by fracking for oil & gas

The mesoamerican rain forest stretches from Panama to the five southern states of Mexico. It contains about 10% of the worlds biodiversity. In the last 20 years, almost 40% of the forest land has been burned for pasturing cattle and logging. We are calling on state and federal governments to purchase sustainable organic shade-grown coffee from the forest

My petition is a fair play petition. No one, corporate or other should be able to destroy a communities resources for profit.

Killing whales is making a comback. Any nation that allows comercial whaling should have all it's exports - agricultural, fishing, manufacturing - embargoed by consumers.

It is incomprehensible that underwater testing carried out by the navy will be allowed knowing the damage it will do to our precious whale and dolphin populations. We as a nation and society in general are cutting off our noses to spite our faces. Please use a safer form of testing and abandon this current project now!
