• Say " No " to the Tar Sands Pipeline in Vermont
The proposal to build the Tar Sands Pipeline through Vermont From Canada is not in the best interest of Vermont. It will cause much destruction of natural areas with the potential of so much more, as well as affecting our drinking water. How can we even consider this project based on the reasons that we, Vermont, just banned fracking in our state. To a great degree this proposed project will affect us in the same way. We are promoting the practice in other countries / states if we agree to this project. So we ban fracking in our state and then we allow them to pipe what is being fracked in other states / countries through our state?

  • Stop Shale Fracking
We need to protect our subteranium structure and our farm environment from the chemical polution needed to produce this kind of energy. The November election needs to be about green energy, not jobs. There will be no jobs if we destroy our countries' resources. Stop running TV ads making false claims about shale fracking.

  • Reporting of Non-Disclosure Agreements
Gas drilling companies require lease holders to sign said agreements which force landowners to agree to silence where drilling errors are made. The penalty for breaking these agreements is a lawsuit initiated against the leaseholder by the gas company.

  • Greening our Interstate Highway Berms
Offset rain forest loss by minimum mowing of our Interstate highway system shoulders and middles. We'll use less fuel, reduce pollution from burning that fuel. Let nature reseed the road middles and shoulders with oxygen creating trees, shrubs and wild flowers. Lovely greenery, beautiful flowers, better air quality, fewer dollars spent. What's not to like?

  • Stop Subsidizing Inefficiency
We'd like to use efficient modes of transportation, like walking, bicycles, and transit, but there are too many cars in the way. Every level of government subsidizes the least efficient mode of transportation, the individual automobile, by spending our taxes on more pavement and requiring designs to accommodate petroleum burners.

  • Tar Sands Pipeline
Being a native Vermonter, I have a natural appreciation for the beauty in my home state. This could change drastically should a tar sands pipeline be built here. Just the deforestation required to maintain the pipeline would be a travesty in this beautiful State. A leak in the pipeline would pose a direct risk to local species and our water supply.

  • Protect Our BLM Backyard Forests
Western Oregon BLM manages 2.6 million acres of public forests - some of the greatest temperate conifer forests in the world. Western Oregon BLM forests surround our communities. People live next to BLM forests, we recreate in BLM forests, and we get our drinking water from BLM forests. There are currently two major developments on Oregon BLM forests. 1) Legislative proposals to manage large portions of BLM forests for the sole purpose of timber production and 2) The Obama Administration has initiated the process of creating a new management plan for these special public lands. Your voice is needed.
