• END THE ATTACK ON U.S. WILDERNESS AND THE 1964 WILDERNESS ACT: KILL HR 4089.
On April 17, 2012, the U.S. House of Representatives passed HR 4089, the Sportsmen's Heritage Act, supposedly to protect and enhance opportunities for recreational hunting, fishing, and shooting. This bill is a thinly disguised measure to gut the 1964 Wilderness Act and protections for every acre of the National Wilderness Preservation System. Supported by the National Rifle Association, the bill would allow the dismemberment of wilderness through road, dam and building construction, as well as extensive habitat modifications. We are petitioning Senate Majority Leader Reid who can prevent this destructive legislation from going any further. This petition is in partnership with The REWILDING INSTITUTE. http://rewilding.org/rewildit/

  • The Copper Smelter will continue to pollute water supply for decades
This petition is about a former company here in El Paso Texas. The copper smelter shut down filed for bankruptcy and left a mess. The courts awarded $52 million dollars for this location and two others, Corpus Cristi, Tx and parts of Amarillio a refinery still in operations so through the courts they financed their own company.. The smelter, however, is in the worst condition. The smelter was caught incinerating nerve gases. The EPA documents stated it as a shame because there was no copper ore contents in the loads being brought in and contained nerve gases.

  • Truth for the Environment
Much has been made of the harmful effects of carbon dioxide upon Earth's environment - global warming a.k.a. "climate change." In fact, CO2 is a life-giving gas which should never be thought of as a pollutant. The supposition is that carbon dioxide warms the world, but that is not true. Even if it were true, the premise behind this way of thinking is that a warmer world would be a bad thing, and that isn't true, either.

  • Use American Natural Gas, Not Arab Oil
Since the Oil Embargo of the 1970's I have listened to members of Congress lament the fact that the use of FOREIGN OIL was America's only hope to remain a modern, industrialized nation. That is not the case today due to America's abundance of natural gas. A program to encourage immediate use of this resource will create American JOBS, JOBS, JOBS, save American lives now being spent keeping the shipping lanes open for FOREIGN OIL and provide a huge assist in balancing our national budget.

  • Take away the proposed recycling charge
York County VA Board of Supervisor announced that they are levying a charge on those who recycle each week. How can the County NOT be making money when we sort and present this marketable materiel to them at no charge? Is recycling not a worthwhile venture to be supporting in this time and place?

  • STOP THE KILLING OF WOLVES
If the wolf is to survive, the wolf haters must be outnumbered. They must be outshouted, out financed, and out voted. Their narrow and biased attitude must be outweighed by an attitude based on an understanding of natural processes……David L. Mech

  • TELL TOKYO ELECTRIC (TEPCO) TO FIX THE FAULTY TOWERS
The tsunami-damaged nuclear power plants did not heal. In fact, they are dripping toxic waters which are being recirculated through and stored in a four story structure which, under normal circumstances , would have been torn down as a hazardous building. COSTS TOO MUCH TO REPAIR, says TEPCo... and guess what, the CEO resigned May 20 to "take the responsibility for the profit losses " with him. And they STILL are dragging their feet on restoring the structure as an ETERNAL GARBAGE CAN OF NUCLEAR WASTE...

  • Dismantle ALL Nuclear Reactors
We moved forward by banning all nuclear explosions to protect the integrity of our atmosphere. The cat came back, through the back door, and it is even bigger and more dangerous. Fukushima for example has polluted the atmosphere, our lands and food chain more than multiple nuclear explosions -- and the pollution continues day by day. There are 400 nuclear reactors all over the world and most are old and prone to failure. They are constantly getting in trouble. Nuclear reactors can bring down our civilization faster than global warming. We need to dismantle them ASAP. A solar flare can interrupt electricity supply to hundred of this monsters. That could be the end, of the human specie. Solar flares like this come about every hundred years, and they are overdue. This type of risks to protect an industry are unacceptable. Nuclear energy is no more than 6% of all the energy we produce, and we can do well without it. Japan has 47 of its nuclear reactors in standby and still functions quite well. Let us stop this. Let us dismantle and decommission them completely.
