The greatest obstacle to environmental progress and a humane society is the fact that over half of human financial resources are spent to maintain military organizations and their weapons and, worse, their wars. If no nation has a military then no nation needs a military. That money can be spent on a better world for all. world instead of death and destruction.

I wrote this letter to Nutella, to help curtail the burning down of tropical forests for the production of palm oil. Maybe something can be done along these lines via MoveOn.org.

Dow Chemical used to manufacture Agent Orange, an herbicide and defoliant, for use in the Vietnam War. The nation of Vietnam estimates that 400,000 people were sickened by this long-lasting chemical, while 500,000 children with birth defects were born to exposed parents. Now, Dow is asking the USDA to approve genetically modified corn that's resistant to Agent Orange. What's worse, this corn is being offered to replace corn resistant to pesticides like RoundUp. Intense RoundUp use has created superweeds that RoundUp can't kill. So now they need something different to spray on the crops, at least for a while, and they want to try making the food we eat resistant to Agent Orange, which seems like a terrible, goddamn idea.

Support the labeling/ban of GE Salmon.

i think that we need the gov to get off the backs of gas powered cars and hop on to some clean burning fuel sorce. we should push them into pushing the big car companys into makeing better cars. it would take the need of over priced gas. good would be cheaper cause of the cheaper fuel. not only cars but trucks boats planes all of them need to stop running on gas

plastic shopping bags are an enormous waste of hydrocarbon resources and an enormous source of plastic pollution. the damage to the ecosystem in terms of wildlife mortality, human death and disease will be with us for generations, even if they were stopped now. how many people are aware of the existence of the garbage patches in the world ocean?

check out the number of countries that do this. the reasons to ban gmo's are numerous. so far, we do not even have the right to avoid them in what we eat. their ability to contaminate traditional crops is documented.

Our country's future hinges on whether or not we can make the transition to local, renewable energy sources now, not in some far-distant nebulous future. Our economy, infrastructure, and continued military strength require energy resources that cannot be met fast-dwindling supplies of fossil fuels.

So called "Blowout Preventers" have not been improved. This is the second anniversary of the Deep Water Horizon disaster, the worst oil spill in history, and NO SERIOUS ADVANCES in safety procedures, cleanup technology, and blow out prevention for ocean floor drilling have been made. The same insufficient technology is still being allowed that was used in 1979. Since drilling operations have expanded since 2010, industry experts say an even higher risk exists of another, perhaps worse, oil blowout.
