This petition is about the sensible use of resources with an eye to ecological preservation. People should sign it as a decisive step toward reclaiming the natural environment from corporate contmainants and preserving it against them. Banning plastic bags would be a great step in reducing unrecyclable trash, biodegradable sacks can be made from potatoes, corn and many of the GMO products we no longer want to consume ourselves. It would take much less petrolium to produce and ship biodegradable bags than plastic bags, which are mostly made from petrolium. This has worked in San Frascisco, now Austin, TX has banned plastic bags, it is our turn. If everyone brought their canvas bags to the store, each time they shopped, we as a consumer would have already decided this for grocery and retail outlets, but we forget, when we forget we no longer have the option if shopping for more than a few items. Tim DeChristopher is a climate change activist who was jailed for obstructing what turned out to be an illegal Bureau of Land Managment land sale. Between the fracking of shale gas wells and mountain top removal, the gas and coal industries have been given a pass on the CWA (Clean Water Act). We should require the gas and coal industries to observe the CWA. Why should they be able to do the very same things that would put you or me in prison? Water will be the most valuable resource of the 21st century, and these industries our fouling our water in ways that will be permanent on a human scale.

The Town of Carolina Shores is considering approving the removal of almost a thousand trees from the Carolina Shores Golf Course. Many of these trees are shading the golf course, but many more of them maybe even the majority, in no way shade the golf course.
