• Say NO to Obama drone killing of Americans without trial!
On March 6, 2013, during the US Senate confirmation hearings on the nomination of William Brennan as Director of the CIA, Attorney General Eric Holder REFUSED TO RULE OUT USING DRONES TO KILL AMERICAN CITIZENS ON AMERICAN SOIL, without trial and without charges. Under intense questioning by several Senators, Mr. Holder repeatedly defended the Obama administration's drone policy, stating that the administration does not intend to conduct such targeted killings on American soil, but insisting that IT HAS THE RIGHT to do so if deemed necessary.

  • Senate: No Backdoor to Iran War
Senator Lindsey Graham and AIPAC are pushing a Senate bill (S.Res.65) that would endorse an Israeli attack on Iran and say that the U.S. should support such an attack militarily and diplomatically. This policy would allow the Israeli government to decide by itself to drag the U.S. into a new war. The bill also attacks President Obama's policy of saying that the U.S. goal is to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, claiming falsely that the U.S. goal is to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon "capability," a vague "red line" that could be used to justify war anytime. President Obama is pursuing diplomacy with Iran, and should be encouraged to intensify diplomatic efforts. He should not be pressed to intensify military threats. Senators should not support Graham and AIPAC's attack on President Obama. More info: Americans for Peace Now has come out against the bill: Americans for Peace Now: Don't Co-Sponsor AIPAC's Bills for Iran War http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robert-naiman/americans-for-peace-now-d_b_2818046.html The New York Times has come out against the bill: Congress Gets in the Way http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/09/opinion/congress-gets-in-the-way-on-iran.html

  • United Nations Kill List
With Obama listing people for extrajudicial assassination here and abroad, it seems other nation's leaders will soon be doing the same. The world can save lots of drone flights if these leaders all delegate their assassination duties to the UN for vetting and execution.

  • Congress: Issue Subpeonas for the Drone Strike Memos
Senate and House committees have sought from the Administration legal memos justifying the use of drone strikes outside any traditional theater of war, including those that target American citizens. In response, the Administration finally released some information, but is refusing to disclose more. It makes a difference what the policy is. Recent polls have indicated that most Americans wouldn't support drone strikes if there is a significant risk of civilian casualties, and wouldn't support broad targeting of anyone suspected of being associated with a militant group if they aren't a threat to the United States. The information that has been released so far shows that the Administration can release information to Congress and the public without compromising national security. We need to have an informed public debate about the drone strike policy, and to have an informed debate, we need to know what the policy is. Here's an article from the Huffington Post about the possibility of subpoena: Subpoenas For Drone Memos From House Judiciary Committee Has 'Bipartisan Interest' http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/27/drone-memos_n_2776036.html

  • Congress: Make Middle East Peace
Our one-sided backing of Israel leads to Arab hatred of us, acts of terrorism, expensive measures to guard against terrorism, and loss of civil rights. Continued tension expands our defense budget and makes our deficit worse. We pay more taxes, or lose vital services, or both. I suffer from all of these.

  • Ask China to Save Elephants and Rhinos
I became very concerned about the fate of elephants and rhinos in the wild. Due to the insatiable demand for ivory and horns in Asian countries, China in particular, their numbers are dwindling by the minute and some direly predict that they'll go extinct in less than a decade. They are noble creatures and a vital part of our ecosystem, and we owe it to ourselves to preserve them for future generations.
