Our democracy is in jeopardy and some of the House Republicans are serving as pawns in the plan to tear It apart. We have a president who imay be a Russian asset and he has bought off other susceptible congress members. These members are not behaving in good faith. They are not defending our democracy or the constitution from internal and external foes as they were elected to do. They must be called to task, and the Mueller investigation must be allowed to proceed unencumbered.

The patency of the 2018 election is a risk if Russia is allowed to meddle. We should not allow President Trump to speak unrecorded to Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, in light of the ongoing investigation into the 2016 meddling.

Donald J. Trump is under investigation for collusion with a foreign adversary and obstruction of justice. His tenure in office has been rife with controversy. He has made many impulsive decisions that have and will have a negative impact on our country. The Mueller investigation needs to be completed before we allow another travesty created by this administration to occur. A Supreme Court Justice has a lifetime appointment. We cannot allow an assault of this magnitude to go unquestioned or standby without our voices being heard. The Senate was intended to be a deliberative democratic institution. By lowering the bar to 51% for lifetime SCOTUS appointments, the Senate no longer has any need to be deliberative and it is only democratic on paper. With a 2 party system, 51% says one party dictates to the nation. Make America Democratic Again.

The next Supreme Court Justice nominee will be selected by this heartless Trump Administration, who has no respect for the civil rights of our fellow citizens. Our great citizenry must understand that the next nominee’s decisions, if confirmed and selected as a Supreme Court Justice, will more than likely equate to the disgusting hatred and lack of compassion that has run through the ice cold heart of this authoritarian administration. My worry extends to all people in the event that this next pick will be someone who also disrespects the rights of the women in our lives and will repeal their right to an abortion. The great heights of our liberty, that is marked by the rising flames of Lady Liberty that stands as a model protecting our New York Harbor, will be taken away if we do not act with all our might to resist any nominee that does not serve the interests of the many. The time is now to stand up and no longer wait for selfish political underpinnings to affirm and continue to hold hostage the fate of the future prosperity of this entire nation. Freedom and democracy shall not be treated as merely words to be espoused for self-serving ends. Let this strong-willed petition be put forward as a resounding commitment to an sincere oath not matter whether you are a Democrat or a Republican. Therefore I once more call on our concerned citizens to direct your attention to this petition and let it serve as an oath to uphold our rightful constitution to protect those most vulnerable among us. That can be a neighbor who we have known for years or that may be a stranger. The time to be fearless by preserving the ironclad ideals of our still distinguished nation is now. There remains an open criminal investigation into this President’s violations of the Constitution, his obstruction of justice and very close-ties to the friends and family members of corrupt Russian leader, Vladimir Putin. It is the people for which this administration answers. Let us make this loud and clear. You continuously seek to punish the majority of Americans. Thus I ask, “What is your punishment for all of your continued inhumane indiscretions?” Let these words be forcefully clear and resolute. You will have no pick, if this pick is unethical and/or represents your fascist ideology, because our court of public opinion shall NOT allow it.

This Supreme Court vacancy puts issues that affect every single American in the balance — from a woman’s right to choose to equal rights under the law to privacy and our civil rights. Given the high stakes of this seat, which I believe will determine the fate of many fundamentally protected constitutional rights, the American people should have a say in this decision. I know from personal experience — as a prosecutor and as a beneficiary of the landmark Brown vs. Board ruling desegregating our nation’s schools — that the decisions handed down by the court touch every aspect of our lives. The stakes don’t get any higher. Americans must be heard.

Dear Democratic Senators, When Republicans committed to stealing President Obama's SCOTUS pick, Merrick Garland, we were 269 days away. We are now 132 days away from the 2018 election. With only 4 months away from the next election, there should be absolutely no consideration of a Supreme Court nominee until the American people have a say. There should be no meetings, no hearings, and no votes. You all tried to play nice over the Garland fiasco and NOW IS THE TIME TO PLAY HARDBALL. Leader McConnell set this standard when he denied Judge Garland a hearing for nearly a year, and the Senate should follow the McConnell Standard now. The American people must have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice. This selection will affect Americans for the next 40+ years. Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new Congress. There is too much at stake to ignore this demand for action including Women's Rights, LGBTQ+ Rights, Gun Control, Environmental Protections, Roe v Wade, Money in Politics, Healthcare, Voting Rights, Gerrymandering, Union Rights and Marriage Rights, among many other extremely important issues for all Americans. Democratic voters are energized, angry, mobilized and ready to crawl over broken glass to restore the US Congress to full Democratic control. But anything less than a full-throated effort to stop this appointment shall subject the Democrats to the full and fierce wrath of the majority of voters who are counting on you to save the republic. Because I think many decisions by the 5/4 supreme court have been partisan. We need a democratic choice for the court; the one we lost due to Mitch McConnell. This is the most important decision for civil liberties. And, just for the record, I'm a white 65 yr. old woman with daughters in their late twenties, and I want an inclusive not exclusive society for them to live in.

The President of the United States is a subject of an ongoing criminal investigation led by special counsel Robert Mueller that could very well end up before the Supreme Court. This investigation has already resulted in more than two dozen indictments, including of Donald Trump's former campaign manager, with more likely to come. Given the possible conflict over such a profoundly important matter as the legitimacy of the election that put him in office, there should be no Trump appointment to the Supreme Court until the Mueller investigation is complete.
